INSTRUCTIONS
When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should
always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock,
and injury to persons, including the following:
1. Read all instructions before operating the air purifier.
2. Place air purifier where it is not easily knocked over by persons in the
household.
3. Always turn the air purifier to the OFF position and unplug from the wall
outlet when not in use.
4. To disconnect the air purifier, first turn control to the OFF position, grip the
plug and pull it from the wall outlet. Never pull by the cord.
5. Do not use any product with a damaged cord or plug or if product
malfunctions, is dropped or damaged in any manner. Keep the cord away
from heated surfaces.
6. Do not use air purifier outdoors.
7. Never use air purifier unless it is fully assembled.
8. Do not run power cord under carpets, and do not cover with throw rugs.
Arrange cord such that it will not be tripped over.
9. Do not use air purifier where combustible gases or vapors are present.
10. Do not expose the air purifier to rain, or use near water, in a bathroom,
laundry area or other damp location.
11. The air purifier must be used in its upright position.
12. Do not allow foreign objects to enter ventilation or exhaust opening as this
may cause electric shock or damage to the air purifier. Do not block air
outlets or intakes.
13. Locate air purifier near the outlet and avoid using an extension cord.
14. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other).
To reduce the risk of shock, this plug is intended to fit only one way in a
polarized outlet. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug.
If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. DO NOT attempt to
defeat this safety feature.
15. A loose fit between the AC outlet (receptacle) and plug may cause
overheating and a distortion of the plug. Contact a qualified electrician to
replace loose or worn outlet.
16. Do not sit, stand or place heavy objects on the air purifier.
17. Disconnect power supply before servicing.

For Best Performance
• Selectafirm,levelandflatlocation.Forproperairflow,locatetheunitatleast3feet
(1 meter) from any wall or furniture.
• Due to the large volume of air drawn towards the air purifier,
surrounding areas should be cleaned and/or vacuumed
frequently to prevent dust buildup. If the unit is placed on light
colored carpeting, a small mat or rug should be used to ease
cleaning and prevent any permanent staining of carpeting. This
is particularly important in homes with heavier contamination
from smoking or fireplaces.
• Installing Rubber Feet:
Your air purifier should have a plastic bag attached to it that
includes 4 rubber feet with an adhesive backing (Fig A).
To limit product vibration attach the rubber feet to the bottom
of the air purifier as indicated (Fig B).
• Locate pre-filter in the box and install before initial
operation. Refer to “Removing/Changing the Filters”
section for proper installation.

We recommend that you operate your Honeywell air purifier 24 hours a day because
indoor air can be quickly contaminated by activity in a room, infiltration of outside
air, and from other sources of contamination. While all the air in a room will not be
processed by the air purifier, the more air circulated through the filter, the more filtered
air is returned to the room. Portable air purifiers will be much more effective in rooms
where all doors and windows are closed.
Your Honeywell air purifier

To Reset Filter Indicator
• Once the filter has been checked and cleaned or replaced as
needed, the filter indicator will need to be reset.
• Withtheunitpoweredon,pressandholdtheappropriatefilter
indicator button down for approximately 10 seconds until the light
turns off (Fig. 1).
The Intelli-Check™Filter Indicators serve as a convenient guideline for when to clean the
LifeTime HEPA™ Permanent Filter and when to replace the carbon pre-filter. Depending
upon your individual usage (environment and hours used), you may need to clean/replace
the filters more or less frequently.
When the HEPA Filter Indicator Light turns on, it’s time to clean your HEPA filter. The
Intelli-Check™reminder for when to clean the HEPA filter is intended as a guideline only as
the performance of the filter media is dependent on the concentration of the contaminants
to which the system is exposed. If there are sources of large amounts of contaminant
generation (such as dust from woodworking or heavy smoking) the HEPA filter in your air
purifier may need to be cleaned more often. For instructions on how to clean your HEPA
filter, refer to section “Cleaning the LifeTime HEPA™Permanent Filter” in this manual.
When your Pre-filter Indicator Light turns on, it’s time to replace your pre-filter. It should
be replaced at least every 3 months. If there are heavy concentrations of odors, smoke,
or large particles in the home, you may need to change the carbon pre-filter more often.
For instructions on how to replace your pre-filter, refer to section “Removing/Changing the
Filters” in this manual.
Note: We do not recommend operating the air purifier without the carbon pre-filter.

LOCATE PRE-FILTER IN THE BOX AND INSTALL BEFORE
INITIAL OPERATION.
Refer to “Removing/Changing the Filters” section for
proper installation.
• Ensuretheairpurifierispluggedintoaworkingelectricaloutlet.
• AllowtheunittooperateforafewsecondsatHIGHspeed,
thensettheunittoHIGHorMEDIUMforfaster,morepowerful
room cleaning, or press the LOW button for quieter operation.
It is recommended you run your air purifier 24 hours a day to
ensure continuous cleaning. Portable air purifiers are more
effective in rooms where all doors and windows are closed.

• CONNECTTHEBATTERY.The programmable controls
andrealtimeclockarebatterybacked.Uponinitialset-up,
pull the protective film from the battery door so the battery
will make contact and function (Fig. 2). This battery allows you
to temporarily unplug your air cleaner without losing program
settings.
• INSTALLPRE-FILTERBEFOREUSE. Locate the pre-filter in
the packaging. Refer to the “How to Install and Replace the
Filters” section for proper installation.
• SETCURRENTTIME. Plug unit in outlet.
NOTE: The air cleaner cannot be programmed unless it is plugged into the outlet.
HoldSETbuttondownforapproximately3seconds.TheclockiconandwordTIME
will appear. You may adjust the hours using the up button and adjust the minutes
usingthedownbutton.Afterthecurrenttimeisset,repeatedlypressSETbuttonuntil
() disappears.

The default program setting upon initial start-up is Manual Operation.
• TogofromAutomaticOperationtoManualOperationpressthePROGRAMbutton
untilbothPG1andPG2disappear.
• TochangethespeedsinManualOperationmodepresstheSPEEDbuttontoselect
the desired setting.
• TheSPEEDbuttonwillmovethroughHIGH,MED,LOW,andOFFasnotedonthe
display, and will function independent of programmed settings.

• PresstheSETbuttonuntilPG1andP1-OFFappear.Thespeediconwilldisappear
(Fig. 4b).
• Adjustthetimeusingthehoursandminutesbutton.Thisisthetimethatthemachine
will turn OFF.
• RepeatedlypressSETbuttonuntil( 6) disappears.
• PressthePROGRAMbuttonuntilPG1appears.Unitwillautomaticallyoperateper
your settings.
To run TWO customized ON/OFF cycles in a 24 hour period (PG2):
NOTE: You are unable to set the OFF time to be the same as the ON time.
The P2-ON time must be set for after the P1-OFF time.

To Customize the PG1 Program Settings to run ONE ON/OFF Cycle
in a 24 hour period:
NOTE: You are unable to set the OFF time to be the same as the ON time.
• PresstheSETbuttonandholdfor3secondstoactivatetimefunction.Move
throughprogrammingfunctionsbyrepeatedlypressingSETbuttonuntilPG1and
P1-ON appear. The clock and program speed icons will appear (Fig. 4a).
• Adjustthetimeusingthehoursandminutesbutton(upforhours,downforminutes).
This is the time that the machine will turn ON.
• AdjustthedesiredspeedsettingusingtheSPEED button.

• PresstheSETButtonandholdfor3secondstoactivatethetimefunction.Move
throughprogrammingfunctionsuntilPG2andP1-ONappear.Theclockandprogram
speed icons will appear (Fig. 5a).
• Adjustthetimeusingthehoursandminutesbutton(upforhours,downforminutes).
This is the time that the machine will turn ON for the first ON/OFF cycle.
• AdjustthedesiredspeedsettingusingtheSPEED button.
• PresstheSETbuttonuntilPG2andP1-OFFappear.Thespeediconwilldisappear
(Fig. 5b).
• Adjustthetimeusingthehoursandminutesbutton.Thisisthetimethatthemachine
will turn OFF for the first ON/OFF cycle.
• PresstheSETbuttonuntilPG2andP2-ONappear.Thespeediconwillappear.
(Fig. 5c).
• Adjustthetimeusingthehoursandminutesbutton.Thisisthetimethatthemachine
will turn ON for the second ON/OFF cycle.
• AdjustthedesiredspeedsettingusingtheSPEED button.
• PresstheSETbuttonuntilPG2andP2-OFFappear.Thespeediconwilldisappear.
(Fig. 5d).
• Adjustthetimeusingthehoursandminutesbutton.Thisisthetimethatthemachine
will turn OFF for the second ON/OFF cycle.
• ContinuouslypressSETbuttonuntilyouexitsettimemode.
• PressthePROGRAMbuttonuntilPG2appears.Unitwillautomaticallyoperateper
your settings.
NOTE: When a program function is running (pre-set or customized program cycles), you
may override the speed setting; the unit will continue with its programmed function once it
reaches the next programmed time.

Remote control handset: Two 1.5V AAA size batteries. Replace as needed.

another battery may present a risk of fire or explosion. Replace when Battery Low icon
appears on viewing screen ( ). Keep unit plugged in
while replacing battery
to prevent loss of customized programs. To replace
battery,locatebatterydooroncontrolpanel.Useaflat
head screwdriver to gently pry up both ends of the
battery door (Fig. 7). Carefully remove battery holder
from unit. Make sure that the (+) sign on the battery is
facing up in the battery holder before returning the new
battery to the unit. Dispose of used battery promptly.
Keep away from children. Do not disassemble and do
not dispose of in fire.

Battery Replacement: Model 17005 Series
This air purifier features a remote control handset for additional convenience. The
remote control allows you to turn the air cleaner OFF and to change the running speed
(LOW,MED,HIGH).NOTE: When a program function is running (pre-set or customized
program cycles), you may override the speed setting; the unit will continue with its
programmed function once it reaches the next programmed time.
The model 17005 series air purifier is equipped with Intelli-Check™Filter Monitors to serve
as a convenient reminder for when to clean the LifeTime HEPA™Filter and when to replace
the carbon pre-filter based on the air cleaner’s hours of use and operating speed. This is
beneficial because a filter’s life depends on the amount
of air and contaminants drawn through it. Each filter bar
will fill up from clean to dirty as its expected filter life
is used up. Once the bar is completely full, it is time to
check and clean/replace the appropriate filter.
• TomovebetweenthePRE-FILTERbarandthe
HEPA FILTER bar, quickly press the FILTER button
(Fig. 6a).
• ToRESETafilterbarthatappearsonthedisplay,
press and hold the FILTER button for 5 seconds, or
until the filter bar clears to CLEAN status (Fig. 6b).
The Intelli-Check™Filter Monitors calculate the
expected pre-filter life based on an assumed average
operating time of 12 hours a day on medium speed.
Therefore, it will indicate replacement of the Pre-filter in
about 3 months. Depending upon your individual usage
(environment, hours and speed of operation), you may
need to check and replace the pre-filters more or less
frequently.

CAUTION: DISCONNECT FROM POWER SUPPLY BEFORE
SERVICING
Do not attempt to wash either the carbon pre-filter or the
HEPA filter. They are not washable and washing will damage
the filters.
The only two parts requiring any service are the carbon pre-filter and
the HEPA filter. No tools are needed. To remove or change either filter,
disassemble the unit as described below:
1. Turn off the air purifier and disconnect from power supply.
2. Loosen the locking mechanism by turning it counterclockwise
and remove the endcap from the unit (Fig. 8).
3. Remove the HEPA filter and activated carbon pre-filter from
the base assembly (Fig. 9).
4. Remove the fasteners from the activated carbon pre-filter
and remove it from the HEPA filter cartridge (Fig. 10).
5. Replace the pre-filter as needed. Clean the HEPA filter
as necessary.
6. Wrap the activated carbon pre-filter around the HEPA filter cartridge
and secure it with the fasteners provided.
Reassemble your Honeywell air purifier as described below:
1. Place the whole filter assembly into the internal chamber.
2. Replace the endcap onto the unit.
3. Reattach the locking mechanism and turn it clockwise until
securely tightened.
4. Plug into a wall outlet.
5.
TurnunitONandRESETfiltermonitor(s)forfilter(s)replaced
by pressing the appropriate filter reset button(s) for a 10 second
delay (Fig. 11).

We recommend that you clean the air purifier at least once a month and before
extendedstorage.Useonlyadryclothtowipetheexternalsurfacesoftheairpurifier.
DO NOT USE WATER, WAX POLISH, OR ANY CHEMICAL SOLUTION.
If you store your Air Purifier for more than 30 days, we recommend:
•RemovingboththeprimaryHEPAfilterandthecarbonpre-filterfromtheunit.
•Discardingthepre-filter.
•WrappingtheHEPAfilterinanair-tightplasticbagorplasticwrap.Besurethatthe
filter is totally sealed.
•Torestoretheairpurifiertoservice,unwraptheHEPAfilter,installanewcarbonpre-
filter,andreinstallbothfiltersintheairpurifier.See“Removing/ChangingtheFilters”
section for proper installation.
Cleaning and Storage
The Honeywell models 17000 and 17005 are equipped with the LifeTime HEPA™Filter
which will last for the life of your air purifier when operated under normal conditions.
Your LifeTime HEPA™Filter is vacuum-able and should be cleaned regularly for optimum
performance.
To Clean Your HEPA Filter:
• DONOTUSEWATEROROTHERLIQUIDSTOCLEANTHEHEPAFILTER.
• Turntheairpurifieroffandunplugfromthewalloutlet.
• Afterremovingthefilterassemblyfromtheairpurifier(refer
to section “Removing/Changing the Filters” in this manual),
separate and remove the carbon pre-filter from the HEPA filter
and place aside (or discard if pre-filter needs replacement).
• Tovacuum-cleanthefilter,holdthefilterandrunavacuum
cleaner with a nozzle or brush attachment along the filter to
pick-up the dirt and particles (Fig. 12). Repeat along the entire
surface of the HEPA filter.
• Do not penetrate the HEPA paper pleats with the vacuum attachment since
tearing or puncturing can occur.
• Notethatthefiltermaystillbediscoloredevenaftercleaningit.Thisisacceptable
and will not affect performance. Also, do not be concerned if you still see particles
attached to the HEPA filter. The filter performance is still optimal.
• Aftervacuumingthefilter,wrapthepre-filteraroundtheHEPAfilterandplacethe
whole assembly back into the internal chamber of the air purifier (see “Removing/
Changing the Filters”).
• YounowneedtoresettheIntelli-Check™Filter Indicator. With the air purifier powered
on, press and hold the appropriate filter indicator button for approximately 10
seconds until the light turns off (see Fig. 1).

My Air Purifier is starting to make noise and the air output is less. What’s wrong?
The filters may be dirty. High amounts of contaminates can block the pores in the
filter and stop the air from moving through it. Clean the HEPA Filter.
How long should I run my Air Purifier?
For best results, you should operate your Air Purifier 24 hours a day. This unit will be
more effective when doors and windows are closed.
Can I wash the filters with water and or detergent?
No. Washing the filters will destroy them.

L’utilisation d’appareils électriques nécessite des précautions

16. Éviter de s’asseoir sur le purificateur d’air, de se tenir debout dessus ou de
déposer des objets lourds dessus.
17. Couper l’alimentation électrique avant d’effectuer l’entretien de l’appareil.
MISE EN GARDE: Afin de réduire le risque d’incendie ou de choc électrique, éviter
d’utiliser une commande de vitesse transistorisée avec le purificateur d’air.
Pour obtenir un rendement optimal
• Placerl’appareilsurunesurfaceferme,planeetdeniveau,àunedistanced’aumoins3
pieds (1 m) de tout mur ou meuble.
• Lepurificateurd’airaspireunegrandequantitéd’airlorsqu’il
fonctionne.S’assurerdetoujoursgarderproprelesenvirons
immédiats de l’appareil pour éviter l’accumulation de poussière ou
de tout autre contaminant et pour prolonger la durée de service du
filtre. Placer un petit tapis sous le purificateur d’air si celui-ci est posé
suruntapispâle.Cetteprécautionéviteradetacherletapis,surtout
lorsque le purificateur d’air est utilisé dans un endroit où il y a de la
fumée de tabac ou un foyer.
• Mise en place des patins de caoutchouc :
Unepocheenplastique,contenant4patinsdecaoutchoucà
endos adhésif, devrait être attachée au purificateur d’air. (Fig. A)
Afin de minimiser les vibrations, veuillez fixer ces patins sur la
surface inférieure de l’appareil, tel qu’indiqué. (Fig. B)
• Déterminer l’emplacement du préfiltre dans la boîte et l’installer
avant de procéder à la première mise en marche. Consulter la
section intitulée « Retrait/changement des filtres » pour l’installer de
manière appropriée.
Installation
Nous vous recommandons de faire fonctionner le purificateur d’air Honeywell 24 heures par
jour, car l’air intérieur peut rapidement devenir vicié du fait des activités prenant place dans la
pièce, de l’infiltration de l’air extérieur et de la présence d’autres sources de contamination.
Bien qu’il soit impossible de purifier l’intégralité de l’air d’une pièce, plus le volume d’air traité
par le purificateur est grand, plus le volume d’air purifié retourné dans la pièce sera grand. Les
purificateurs d’air portables seront bien plus efficaces dans les pièces où toutes les portes et
fenêtres sont fermées.

DÉTERMINER L’EMPLACEMENT DU PRÉFILTRE DANS LA BOÎTE ET
L’INSTALLER AVANT DE PROCÉDER À LA PREMIÈRE MISE EN MARCHE.
Consulter la section intitulée « Retrait/changement des filtres » pour l’installer de
manière appropriée.
• S’assurerquelepurificateurd’airestbranchédansuneprisedecourantqui
fonctionne.
• Laisserl’appareilfonctionnerpendantquelquessecondesàlavitesseélevée
(HIGH).Puis,sionveutquel’appareilpurifiel’airdelapièceplusrapidement
etavecplusdepuissance,lerégleràlavitesseélevée(HIGH)oumoyenne
(MEDIUM).Parcontre,sionveutunfonctionnementplussilencieux,appuyer
sur le bouton LOW (vitesse basse).
Il est recommandé de laisser fonctionner le purificateur d’air 24 heures
par jour pour assurer un assainissement continu. Les purificateurs d’air
portables sont plus efficaces dans les pièces dont les portes et les fenêtres
sont fermées.

Pour réinitialiser l’indicateur de l’état du filtre
• Unefoisquelefiltreaétévérifiéetnettoyé-ouremplacé,selonle
cas – il faut réinitialiser l’indicateur de l’état du filtre.
• Mettrel’appareilsoustensionpuismaintenirabaissélebouton
indicateur de l’état du filtre approprié pendant environ 10 secondes,
jusqu’à ce que le voyant s’éteigne (Fig. 1).
Les indicateurs de l’état des filtres Intelli-CheckMC permettent facilement de savoir quand il
est nécessaire de nettoyer le filtre permanent LifeTime HEPAMC, et quand il est nécessaire de
remplacer le préfiltre à charbon. La fréquence de nettoyage/remplacement des filtres varie en
fonction de vos conditions d’utilisation (environnement et durée d’utilisation).
Lorsque le voyant indicateur de l’état du filtre HEPA s’allume, il est temps de nettoyer le
filtre HEPA. Le dispositif de rappel Intelli-CheckMC qui indique quand nettoyer le filtre HEPA sert
uniquement de guide, puisque le rendement du filtre dépend de la concentration des polluants
auxquelslesystèmeestexposé.Sidegrandesquantitésdepolluants(commelapoussière
émise lors du travail du bois ou le tabagisme intensif) sont générées, il est possible qu’il soit
nécessaire de nettoyer le filtre HEPA situé dans le purificateur d’air plus fréquemment. Pour
obtenir des instructions concernant le nettoyage du filtre HEPA, se référer à la section intitulée
« Nettoyage du filtre permanent LifeTime HEPAMC » de ce manuel.
Lorsque le voyant indicateur de l’état du préfiltre s’allume, il est temps de remplacer ce
dernier.Ildevraitêtreremplacéaumoinstousles3mois.Silaconcentrationd’odeurs,de
fumée, de particules de grandes tailles est élevée dans la maison, il peut s’avérer nécessaire
de changer le préfiltre à charbon plus fréquemment. Pour obtenir des instructions quant
au remplacement du préfiltre, consulter la section « Retrait/changement des filtres » de ce
manuel.
Remarque : il est déconseillé de faire fonctionner le purificateur d’air sans préfiltre à charbon.

• METTRELAPILEENPLACE.Les commandes programmables et
l’horloge à temps réel possèdent une pile de secours. Au moment
de l’installation initiale, enlever la pellicule protectrice se trouvant sur
le couvercle du compartiment de la pile, de sorte que le contact se
fasse et que la pile fonctionne (Fig. 2). La pile permet de débrancher
temporairement le purificateur d’air sans perdre les réglages.

l’horloge et le mot « TIME » apparaissent. On règle l’heure en appuyant sur le bouton du haut
(HOURS)etlesminutesenappuyantsurleboutondubas(MINUTES).Unefoisl’heureactuelle

L’appareil qui est mis en marche pour la première fois a comme programmation implicite
de fonctionner en mode manuel.
