SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions should always be
followed, including the following:
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS APPLIANCE.
WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE,
ELECTRIC SHOCK OR INJURY:
• Fully assemble before operating.
• Operate power canister only at voltage specified on data label on side of power
canister.
• Do not use on wet surfaces.
• Do not allow to be used as a toy. Not intended for use by children age 12 and under.
Close supervision is necessary when used near children. To avoid injury or damage,
keep children away from product, and do not allow children to place fingers or other
objects into any openings.
• Use only as described in this manual. Use only manufacturer’s recommended attach-
ments and products.
• Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If appliance is not working as it should, has
been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, take it to a Hoover Sales
and Service center or Authorized Hoover warranty Service Dealer (Depot) prior to con-
tinuing use.
• Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord
around sharp edges or corners. Do not place product on cord. Do not run appliance
over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
• Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
• Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands.
• Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of
dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.
• Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving
parts. Motorized nozzle brushroll continues to operate when in upright position.
• Turn off all controls before unplugging.
• Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
• Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids, such as gasoline, or fine wood
sandings, or use in areas where they may be present.
• Connect to a properly grounded outlet only. See Grounding Instructions.- pg. 7.
• Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot
ashes.
• Do not use without filter in place. Empty dust container and clean filter frequently when
picking up very fine materials such as powder.
• Do not use without filter bag in place on models including a filter bag. Change bag
frequently when picking up very fine materials such as powder.
• WARNING: This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause
cancer, birth defects or reproductive harm. WASH HANDS AFTER HANDLING.

CAUTION: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF DAMAGE:
• Avoid picking up hard, sharp objects with this product, as they may cause damage.
• Do not expose machine to freezing temperatures.
• Do not use sharp objects to clean out hose as they can cause damage.
• Do not allow motorized nozzle with brushroll running to sit in one location for an
extended period of time, as damage to floor can result.
WHEN USING ACCESSORY KIT, NOTE THESE
SAFEGUARDS:
• The hose contains electrical wires. Avoid picking up sharp objects. If hose appears
damaged, cut, punctured, or wires are exposed, unplug unit and discontinue use. Do
not attempt to repair damaged hose, take to an authorized service center for repair.
• Always unplug cord from electrical outlet before connecting or disconnecting hose or
motorized nozzle.
• Unplug hose from wall inlet and cord from electrical outlet when not in use and before
servicing motorized nozzle.
• Do not use powered nozzle outdoors or on wet surfaces.

2. INSTALLATION
LOCATION FOR POWER CANISTER
2.1
The Power Canister can be mounted in the
basement, utility room, garage or any other
remote area, except where exposed to weather,
and convenient to an electrical outlet. The unit
requires ventilation. DO NOT install in a heat
producing or confined area such as the attic,
furnace room, etc. If desired, the Power Canister
can be exhausted to the outside.
The top of the Power Canister should be no less
than 12” (30.5 cm) from the ceiling, and any corner
wall, to allow proper cooling to the motor. For ease
of removing the dust container, the bottom of the
unit should be at least 18” (46 cm) above the floor.
Central Vacuum Power Canisters require a
separate/dedicated, 120 Volt, 60Hz., 20 Amp, 3
1. Determine if the wall you will be mounting the
Power Canister to is block, concrete, or plaster/
drywall.
Block or Concrete Wall
You will need (2) 1-1/2” (3.8cm) x 1/4” (.64cm) lead
plugs and (2) 1-1/2” (3.8cm) x 1/4” (.64cm) lag
bolts. Drill a 1/2” (1.3cm) dia. x 1-3/4” (4.4cm) deep
hole with a masonry drill bit. Insert a lead plug into
the hole.
Mount the bracket (Fig. 2.1) from a top hole with a
lag bolt. Mark the other upper hole of the bracket.
Make sure that the bracket is straight. Slide the
bracket away from the mark and drill a hole directly
over the mark.
Insert a lead plug into the hole. Align the bracket
over the hole and tightly fasten with a lag bolt.

Drywall or Plaster Wall
You will need(2) 1-1/2” (3.8cm) x 1/4” (.64cm) wood
screws. Locate a stud and drill a 1/8” (.32cm) dia. x
1-3/4” (4.4 cm) pilot hole. Mount the bracket from a
top hole with a wood screw. Make sure that the
bracket is straight. Drill a second pilot hole using a
lower hole on the bracket and fasten tightly with the
other wood screw.
2. Mount the Power Power Canister on the bracket
making sure the bar on the back of the machine is
settled to the bottom of the slots on the mounting
bracket.The wall mountingbracket must fitbetween
the two brackets on the back of the central vacuum.
3. Route the intake tubing to the Power Canister.
4. Insert the tubing into the Power Canister inlet.
5. Tighten the inlet connection with the 3” (7.6cm)
gear clamp (included). (Do not cement pipe to
plastic inlet port.)
6. Connect the 24 Volt wires coming from the wall
valves into the 24 Volt receptacle on the machine.
7. Plug the power cord in.
8. Assuming that the wall inlet valves are
connected, the system is now ready.
NOTE: The canister has a pre-installed Sound
dampening Foam in lid to reduce noise levels.

BRACKET
wire grounded power circuit, protected by a 120
Volt, 60 Hz., AC, 20 Amp time delay fuse or circuit
breaker and a 120 Volt, 60 Hz., 20 Amp grounded
receptacle.
If a 120 volt, 60 Hz., 20 Amp grounded receptacle
is not available, have a qualified electrician install
one for you. The receptacle should be no more
than 5 feet (152 cm) from the Power Canister.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD AN
EXTENSION CORD BE USED WITH THIS
POWER CANISTER.

3. HOW TO USE
GROUNDING
OUTLET BOX
GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance must be grounded. If it should malfunction or breakdown, grounding
provides a path of least resistance for electrical current to reduce the risk of electric
shock. This appliance is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding
conductor (C) and grounding plug (A). The plug must be plugged into an appropriate
outlet (B) that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes
and ordinances.
DANGER: Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can
result in the risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or service person
if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug
provided with the appliance - if it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by
a qualified electrician. This appliance is for use on a nominal 120 volt circuit and has a
grounding plug that looks like the plug (A) illustrated in sketch (Fig. 3.1). A temporary
adapter (D) may be used to connect this plug to a 2-pole receptacle (E) if a properly
grounded outlet is not available (Fig. 3.2). The temporary adapter should be used only
until a properly grounded outlet (B) can be installed by a qualified electrician (Fig. 3.1).
The green colored rigid ear, lug, or the like (F) extending from the adapter must be
connected to a permanent ground (G) such as a properly grounded outlet box cover
(Fig. 3.2). Whenever the adapter is used, it must be held in place by a metal screw.
NOTE: In Canada, the use of a temporary adapter is not permitted by the Canadian
Electrical Code.

WALL INLET VALVE
To start your Power Canister, simply plug your hose
end into a Type “A” wall valve or Canplas Part
#791500 wall valve. Both types of wall valves
(Standard (A) - Corded Hose; Electrified (B) -
Cordless Hose) are shown in Fig 3.3.

MULTIPLE INTAKE PORTS
3.4 The Power Canister is equipped with two (2)
Intake Ports on the back. Once installation of the
Central Vac System is complete, the intake port that
was not used must be capped with the Vac Cap
Assembly. This assembly is packed in the dust
container of your Power Canister.

CHECK THE SYSTEM
Check each connection for proper seal and that no
air leaks occur.
If one is present, you may hear a “hissing” sound.
Correct if present. Check each inlet valve for air
leaks.
Start the system by plugging the hose into each
valve to make sure it functions properly.
Your Central Vacuum Cleaning System is now
ready for your use.
BAG/BAGLESS OPTION
To use CV with a bag, insert flat end of the filter bag
adaptor to the inlet port. Insert the bag opening over
the ribbed end of the filter bag adaptor, ensuring the
bag is secure.
NOTE: Do not clean out old bag and reuse. Discard
used filter bag
SYSTEM CHECK LED
When the time incremented gets to 20 hours, the
LED will start a slow blinking sequence. The LED is
to blink whether the motor is running or not after the
timer is reached.
Slow Blink sequence is about 0.5s on and 0.5s off.
When the reset button - located on the left side of
the machine - is held more than 3 seconds, this will
reset the 20 hour timer. This reset will occur at any
moment in time before 20 hours, at 20 hours and
after 20 hours when the reset button is held for
more than 3 seconds. The reset will be acknowl-
edged by the LED fast blinking 3 times (blinking
rate is about 0.25s on and 0.25s off).

4. MAINTENANCE
CAUTION
! !
To reduce the risk of injury from moving parts,
unplug Power Canister before servicing.
The only maintenance your Power Canister requires is emptying the dust container as required, periodically
cleaning the filter and replacing the bag when bag option is in use.
Any other servicing should be done by an authorized service representative.
Remove the dirt container by unlatching the latches
located on each side of the dirt container.
Place a plastic grocery bag over the dacron/cloth
filter and around the cyclonic deflector that sur-
rounds the filter.
4.1 Using the plastic bag as hand protection from
dirt particles, shake the filter to cause any particles
adhering to the filter to fall into the bag.
Replace the dirt container and secure latches.
If the cloth filter should need to be removed, grasp
it near the top and pull towards the middle of the
unit in order to remove.
4.2 To replace the cloth filter, you must decrease
the circumference of the filter by pulling one side of
the filter towards the center of the filter to create a
“V” or “U” shape.
FILTER: How to Clean
IMPORTANT
Printing must be on the inside of the cloth filter
when installed.
Make sure the cloth filter is fitting properly into
the groove so it will not come out when the
machine is turned on. Failure to do so could void
your warranty.

Determine if the blockage is in the hose or piping by
inserting hose in an inlet valve.
Check to see if there is any suction at another inlet
valve by opening the cover. If there is, plug the hose
into the second wall valve and feel the end of the
hose to see if there is regular suction.
If the blockage is in the hose, insert a long blunt
item,suchasabroomhandle,tocleartheblockage.
CLEARING BLOCKAGES
BAG: How to Replace Bag when Bag Option is in use.
To replace the dust bag, follow these easy steps:
1 Make sure the power unit is disconnected from the electrical wall outlet.
2 Unhook the latches down to lower the debris bucket.
3 Remove the debris bucket from the latch hangers.
4 Remove the filter bag adaptor from the unit
5 Dispose of the dust bag in a refuse container, keeping the filter bag adaptor.
6 Attach the new bag to the ribbed side of the filter bag adaptor, making sure it is on securely
7 Reattach the filter adaptor to the unit
8 Reattach the debris bucket on to the latch hangers and lock into place.
9 Reconnect the power unit to the electrical wall outlet.
10 Press the RESET button located on the left side of the unit for three seconds to reset the timer.
If the blockage is in the pipe, insert hose into wall
valve and place hand over end of hose to cut off air
flow.
Place your hand on and off the end of hose rapidly
several times.
If this does not clear the blockage, contact your
local Hoover Sales and Service Center (See
Service Section).
Check tools, wands, etc. for blockages.
Place the filter back into the unit and let the filter
snap outward into the groove.
NOTE: Do not clean out old bag and reuse. Discard used filter bag

The motor is equipped with bearings that contain sufficient lubrication for the life of the motor. The addition
of lubricant could cause damage. Therefore, do not add lubricant to motor bearings.
The agitator brushroll is equipped with two ball bearings that should be lubricated periodically by an
Authorized Hoover Warranty Service Dealer.
A thermal protector has been designed into your cleaner to protect it from overheating.
When the thermal protector activates, the cleaner will stop running. If this happens, proceed as follows:
1. Turn the cleaner OFF and unplug it from the electrical outlet.
2. Check secondary and final filters for dirt accumulation.
3. Refer to “Clearing blockages” section.
4. When cleaner is unplugged and motor cools for 30 minutes, the thermal protector will deactivate and
cleaning may continue.
If the thermal protector continues to activate after following the above steps, your cleaner needs servicing.

5. TROUBLESHOOTING
If a minor problem occurs, it usually can be solved quite easily when the cause is found by using the
checklist below.
Any other servicing should be done by an authorized service representative.

7. WARRANTY
WHAT THIS WARRANTY COVERS
When used and maintained in normal household
use and in accordance with the Owner’s Manual,
your HOOVER®product is warranted against
original defects in material and workmanship for
seven full years from date of purchase (the
“Warranty Period”). During the Warranty Period,
Hoover®will provide labor and parts, at no cost to
you, to correct any such defect in products
purchased in the United States, U.S. Military
Exchanges and Canada.
HOW TO MAKE A WARRANTY CLAIM
If this product is not as warranted, take or send
the product to a Hoover® Authorized Warranty
Service Dealer along with proof of purchase. For

concerning this Warranty or the availability of

WHAT THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER
This Warranty does not cover: use of the product
in a commercial operation (such as maid, janitorial
and equipment rental services), improper
maintenance of the product, damage due to
misuse, acts of God, nature, vandalism or other
acts beyond the control of Hoover®, owner’s acts
or omissions, use outside the country in which the
product was initially purchased and resales of the
product by the original owner. This warranty does
not cover pick up, delivery, transportation or
house calls. However, if you mail your product to
a Hoover®Sales and Service Center for warranty
service, cost of shipping will be paid one way.
This warranty does not apply to products
purchased outside the United States, including
its territories and possessions, outside a U.S.
Military Exchange and outside of Canada. This
warranty does not cover products purchased
from a party that is not an authorized retailer,
dealer, or distributor of Hoover®products.
OTHER IMPORTANT TERMS
This Warranty is not transferable and may not
be assigned. This Warranty shall be governed
and construed under the laws of the state of
Ohio. The Warranty Period will not be extended
by any replacement or repair performed under
this Warranty.

2. INSTALACIÓN
UBICACIÓN DE LA UNIDAD DE POTENCIA
2.1
La unidad de potencia puede montarse cerca de
una toma de corriente eléctrica en el sótano, la sala
de máquinas, el garaje o cualquier otra área
remota, excepto en lugares expuestos a la
intemperie. La unidad requiere ventilación. NO la
instale en un área que produzca calor ni en un área
confinada, como el ático, la sala de calderas, etc.
Si lo desea, la unidad de potencia puede salir hacia
el exterior.
La parte superior de la unidad de potencia debe
encontrarse a una distancia de no menos de 12
pulg. (30.5 cm) del techo y de cualquier pared de
esquina, para permitir el enfriamiento adecuado del
motor. Para facilitar la remoción del contenedor de
polvo,laparteinferiordelaunidaddebeencontrarse
a una distancia de, al menos, 18 pulg. (46 cm)
sobre el suelo.
1. Determine si la pared en la que montará la
unidad de potencia es una pared de bloques, de
concreto o de yeso/paneles de yeso.
Pared de bloques o de concreto
Necesitará (2) clavijas de plomo de 1-1/2 pulg. (3.8
cm) x ¼ pulg. (0.64 cm) y (2) pernos de rosca para
madera de 1-1/2 pulg. (3.8 cm) x 1/4 pulg. (0.64
cm). Con una broca para trabajos de albañilería,
haga un agujero de ½ pulg. (1.3 cm) de diámetro x
1-3/4 pulg. (4.4 cm) de profundidad. Introduzca una
clavija de plomo en el agujero.
Monte la abrazadera (Fig. 2.1) por el agujero que
se encuentra en su parte superior, con un perno de
rosca para madera. Marque el otro agujero superior
de la abrazadera. Asegúrese de que la abrazadera
quede derecha. Deslice la abrazadera fuera de la
marca y haga un agujero directamente sobre la
marca.
Introduzca una clavija de plomo en el agujero.
Alinee la abrazadera encima del agujero y
asegúrela firmemente con un perno de rosca para
madera. Pase al punto 2.
Pared de panel de yeso o yeso
Necesitará (2) tornillos para madera de 1-1/2 pulg.
(3.8 cm) x ¼ pulg. (0.64 cm). Ubique un puntal y
haga un agujero guía de 1/8 pulg. (0.32 cm) de
diámetrox1-3/4pulg.(4.4cm).Montelaabrazadera
por uno de los agujeros que se encuentran en su
parte superior, con un tornillo para madera.
Asegúrese de que la abrazadera quede derecha.
Haga un segundo agujero guía usando uno de los
agujeros que se encuentran en la parte inferior de
la abrazadera y asegúrela firmemente con el otro
tornillo para madera.
2. Monte la unidad de potencia en la abrazadera y
asegúrese de que la barra que se encuentra en la
parte posterior de la máquina esté asentada en la
parte inferior de las ranuras de la abrazadera de
montaje. La abrazadera que va montada en la
pared debe caber entre las dos abrazaderas que
se encuentran en la parte posterior del sistema de
aspiración centralizada.
3. Coloque la tubería de entrada orientada hacia la
unidad de potencia.
4. Introduzca la tubería en la entrada del
Receptáculo de Potencia.
5. Aprietelaconexióndeentradaconlaabrazadera
sin fin de 3” (7.6 cm) (incluida). (No cemente la
tubería al puerto de entrada de plástico).
6. Conecte los cables de 24 voltios que salen de
las válvulas de pared dentro del receptáculo de 24
voltios que se encuentra en la máquina.
7. Enchufe el cordón de alimentación.
8. Si las válvulas de entrada de pared están
conectadas, el sistema está listo para usar.
NOTA: En la tapa del cuerpo del aparato está
instalada una gomaespuma para amortiguar el
ruido del aparato.

Las unidades de potencia de aspiración
centralizada requieren un circuito de potencia
separado/exclusivo, de 3 cables, conectado a
tierra, de 120 voltios, 60 Hz y 20 amperios, que
esté protegido por un fusible de retardo o disyuntor
de 120 voltios, 60 Hz, CA y 20 amperios, y un
receptáculo conectado a tierra de 120 voltios, 60
Hz, y 20 amperios.
Si no se dispone de un receptáculo conectado a
tierra de 120 voltios, 60 Hz y 20 amperios, haga
que un electricista calificado instale uno. El
receptáculo no debe encontrarse a más de 5 pies
(152 cm) de distancia de la unidad de potencia.
EN NINGÚN CASO SE DEBE UTILIZAR UN
CORDÓN DE EXTENSIÓN CON ESTA UNIDAD

3. CÓMO USAR LA ASPIRADORA

INSTRUCCIONES DE CONExIÓN A TIERRA
Este aparato debe estar conectado a tierra. En caso de desperfecto o falla, la conexión
a tierra ofrece un circuito de menor resistencia para la corriente eléctrica a fin de
reducir el riesgo de choque eléctrico. Este aparato tiene un cordón con un conductor
de conexión a tierra del equipo (C) y un enchufe de conexión a tierra (A). El enchufe
debe estar enchufado en una toma de corriente (B) adecuada correctamente instalada
y conectada a tierra de acuerdo con todos los códigos y ordenanzas locales.
PELIGRO: La conexión inadecuada del conductor de conexión a tierra del equipo
puede ocasionar un riesgo de choque eléctrico. Consulte a un electricista calificado o al
personal de mantenimiento si no está seguro de que la toma de corriente está conectada
a tierra en forma adecuada. No modifique el enchufe suministrado con el aparato; si no
calza en la toma de corriente, haga que un electricista calificado instale una toma de
corriente adecuada. Este aparato es apto para uso en un circuito nominal de 120 voltios
y tiene un enchufe de conexión a tierra similar al enchufe (A) que se ilustra (3.1). Si no
se dispone de una toma de corriente con una conexión a tierra adecuada, se puede usar
un adaptador temporal (D) para conectar este enchufe a un receptáculo de 2 polos (E). El
adaptador temporal debe utilizarse únicamente hasta que un electricista calificado pueda
instalar una toma de corriente con una conexión a tierra adecuada (B). La oreja, patilla
o dispositivo similar rígido de color verde (F) que sale del adaptador debe conectarse a
una conexión a tierra permanente (G), como la tapa de la caja de una toma de corriente
con una conexión a tierra adecuada. Cuando se use el adaptador, debe mantenerse en
su lugar con un tornillo de metal. NOTA: En Canadá, el Código Eléctrico Canadiense
(Canadian Electrical Code) no permite el uso de adaptadores temporales.

Para poner en funcionamiento su unidad de poten-
cia, simplemente enchufe el extremo de la manguera
en cualquiera de las válvulas de entrada de pared.
(Solamente conecte la manguera a una válvula en la
pared de tipo “A” o pieza Canplas Nro. 791500. ) Los
dos tipos de válvulas de pared (Estándar (A):
manguera con cordón; Electrificada (B): manguera
sin cordón) se muestran en la Fig. 3.3. AB

3.4 la unidad de potencia tiene dos (2) puertos de entrada en la parte posterior.
Una vez que se completa la instalación del Sistema deAspiración Centralizada,
el puerto de entrada que no se utilizó se debe cubrir con el conjunto de cubierta
del sistema de aspiración. Este conjunto viene en el empaque del contenedor
de polvo de su unidad de potencia.
3.4
VERIFIQUE EL SISTEMA
Verifique que todas las conexiones estén correctamente selladas y que no
haya fugas de aire.
Si se produce una fuga, es posible que escuche un sonido sibilante. Corrija
cualquier fuga que se produzca. Verifique cada válvula de entrada para
detectar fugas de aire.
Ponga en funcionamiento el sistema enchufando la manguera en cada válvula
para asegurarse de que funcione correctamente.
Ahora, su Sistema de Limpieza deAspiración Centralizada está listo para usar.
OPCIÓN CON/SIN BOLSA
Para utilizar la CV con una bolsa, inserte el extre-
mo plano del adaptador de la bolsa de filtro en el
puerto de entrada. Inserte la abertura de la bolsa
sobre el borde acanalado del adaptador de la bolsa
de filtro, asegurándose de que la bolsa quede
firme.
NOTA: No limpie ni reutilice la bolsa usada.
Deseche la bolsa filtrante usada.
LED DE VERIFICACIÓN DEL
SISTEMA
Cuando el conector LV está cerrado, el procesador
comienza a incrementar el tiempo y la luz del LED
está fija. Cuando el LV está abierto (motor apaga-
do), el LED se apaga. Éste es el estado para
menos de 20 horas en el temporizador.
El valor del temporizador se mantiene durante una
pérdida de potencia.
Cuando el incremento de tiempo llega a 20 horas,
el LED comienza a mostrar una secuencia de
destellos. El LED destellará ya sea que el motor
esté funcionando o no después de alcanzar el
temporizador.
La secuencia lenta de destellos es de aproximada-
mente 0.5 s encendido y 0.5 s apagado.
Si se presiona más de 3 segundos el botón de
reajuste ubicado en el lado izquierdo del aparato,
se reinicializa el temporizador de 20 horas. Este
restablecimiento ocurrirá en cualquier momento
antes de las 20 horas, a las 20 horas y después de

las 20 horas cuando se oprima el botón de restab-
lecimiento durante más de 3 segundos. El restab-
lecimiento se indicará mediante el LED que destel-
lará rápidamente 3 veces (la velocidad del destello

apagado).
