for the purpose for which it has been expressly designed. Any other

I. GENERAL INFORMATION
1. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING
1. To preventpossible waterleak, electricshock orre,theinstallationmustbecarried
outbyqualiedpersonnel.
2. Theunitmusthaveaseparatepowersupply.BranchingoffthePowerCord,usingan
extensioncord,orsharing a single power supply with other appliances may result in
electricshock,heatgenerationorre.Useonlyonereceptacle,evenifanelectrical
outletisprovidedwithmorethanone.
3. Thisunitisnotintendedforoutdooruse.Exposuretorainmaycauseelectricleakor
shock.
4. Donotinstalltheunitwhereexposed tohumidityor watersplashes.Degradationof
insulationmaycauseelectricleakorshock.
5. Do not damage the Power Cord.  It should not be additionally processed, jerked,
bundled,weigheddownorcaughtin.Itcouldcauseelectricshockorre.
6. To prevent electric shock, donot touch theAttachment Plug, Power Switch (Earth
LeakageCircuitBreaker),orotherelectricalpartswithdamphands.
7. CheckthattheAttachmentPlugBladesarefreeofdustandthattheAttachmentPlug
issecurelypluggedintothereceptacle.Dustybladesorlooseconnectionmaycause
electricshockorre.
8. In case of a gas leak, turn off the gas and ventilate the room.  To avoid the risk of
ignitionandexplosion,donottouchorunplugtheunit.
9. Topreventinjury,donotputobjectsorhandsintheicemakingcompartment.
10.DonothangorstepontheDoororputheavythingsexceeding25kg.TheDoormay
falloffortheunitcouldtipover.
11. Topreventre,electricshock,injuryorwaterleak,thisunitshouldbedisassembled,
repairedormodiedonlybyqualiedservicepersonnel.
12.Donotsplashwaterdirectlyontotheunit.Itmaycauseashortcircuit,electricshock,
corrosionorfailure.
13.If the Power Switch (Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker) turns off, contact an authorized
Hoshizakiservicecompany.Topreventelectricshockorre,donotturnitbackon.

14.Incaseoftrouble(ex.burningsmell),disconnectthemainpowersupply,and
immediately contact an authorized Hoshizaki service company. To prevent possible
electricshockorre,donotkeeptheunitinoperation.
15.Whenshuttingdowntheunitfortemporarystorage,keeptheDoorfromshuttingtight.
Childrencouldbeshutin.
16.In case of relocation, contact an authorized Hoshizaki service company.  Improper
installationmaycausewaterleak,electricshockorre.
17.Whendisposingoftheunit,contactanauthorizedHoshizakiservicecompany.
Leavingtheunitmaybeillegalorcauseanunexpectedaccident.
CAUTION
1. Toavoidpossiblehealthproblems,useonlytapwater.
2. Do not use a water purier.  It will remove chlorine from tap water and may cause
bacterialgrowth,resultinginhealthproblems.
3. Topreventwaterleaksresultingindamagetothesurroundingproperty,keepthewater
supplypressurewithin0.05to0.78MPa.
4. Ifthereisapossibilitythattheambienttemperaturemayfallbelow0°Candfreezethe
unit,besuretodraintheunit.Thewatersupplylinecouldbedamagedandleakwater,
resultingindamagetothesurroundingproperty.
5. Topreventmeltingofplastics,smokingorignition,theunitshouldnotbelocatedonor
nexttohighheatproducingequipment(ex.gascookingstove).
6. Do not put heavy things, water containing vessels or cartons on the unit (including
themachinecompartment).Theycouldfalloffandcauseinjury,orspilledwatermay
degradetheelectricalinsulationandincreasetheriskofelectricleak.
7. Do not use combustible spray or place volatile and ammable substances near the
unit.Theycouldcatchrefromasparkofaswitchorthelike.
8. Topreventinjury,donotholdthetopoftheDoorHandlewhenclosingtheDoor.
9. ToavoiddamagetotheDoor,donotkicktheDoorclosed.
10.To keep away dust, insects and bacteria that may cause health problems, close the
Doortightlyuntilitclicks,anddonotleaveitopen.
11. To prevent bacterial growth that may cause health problems, do not store anything
otherthaniceandScoopinsidetheStorageBin.

12.Ificefallsontheoor,putitawayimmediatelytopreventslippingorsteppingon.
13.Donotputanythingintotheairinlet/outlet.TheFanrotatingrapidlyinsidemaycause
injury.
14.When removing the Front Cover, do not touch the Condenser Fins directly.  It may
causeinjury.
15.To prevent bacterial growth that may cause health problems, clean the Scoop and
DooreverydayandtheStorageBineveryweek.
16.ChecktheEarthLeakageCircuitBreakerforproperoperationonceamonth.Ifitisleft
inoperable,itcouldincreasetheriskofelectricshockincaseofelectricleak.
17.Checkthedrainpipeforcloggingonceortwiceayear.Cloggedpipemayleakwater,
resultingindamagetothesurroundingproperty.
18.In case of low water, turn off the Power Switch (Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker) and
close the Water Supply Line Shut-off Valve, or rusty water may ow in when water
supplyisresumed,resultinginimpureiceproduction.
19.Beforestartingcleaningorinspection,turnoffthePowerSwitch(EarthLeakageCircuit
Breaker) and disconnect the main power supply to avoid possible electric shock or
burn.
20.When shutting down the unit for more than a day, drain the unit to prevent water
contaminationwhichmaycausebacterialgrowth,resultinginhealthproblems.
21.Whenshuttingdowntheunitfor morethanaweek,turnoffthePowerSwitch(Earth
Leakage Circuit Breaker) and unplug the unit.  Dust may collect on theAttachment
Plugorreceptacleandcauseheatgenerationorignition.
22.Tounplugtheunit,besuretopulltheAttachmentPluganddonotjerkthePowerCord.
Itcouldbedamagedandcausereorelectricshock.
23.Donotplugin/unplugtheunittostart/stoptheoperation.Itcouldcauseelectricshock
orshortcircuit.
24.Whensellingortransferringthisproduct,tapethisInstructionManualtotheexteriorto
providethenewownerwithinformationonsafeandproperuseoftheproduct.

3. CHECKS BEFORE OPERATION
[a] CHECKS AFTER INSTALLATION
*Inthepresenceoftheinstaller,checkforproperinstallationaccordingto“IV.
INSTALLATION”.
[b] CHECKS BEFORE OPERATION
*Ambienttemperatureshouldbewithin1to35°Candwatertemperaturewithin5to30°C.
Donotinstalltheunitwherethereisapossibilityoffreezing.Iftheambienttemperature
exceeds35°C,useaventilator.
*KeeptheScoopintheScoopHolderinsidetheStorageBin.
IMPORTANT
1.AlthoughtheStorage Binhasbeencleanedbeforeshipment,cleanitagain
beforeuse.See“III.MAINTENANCE”.
2.Whentheunitisusedforthersttimeoraftermorethanaweek,theStorage
Bininteriororicemaysmell.Thisisnotharmfulandwillfadeawaywhilethe
unitis running. Forsanitaryreasons,discard the iceproducedintheinitial
freezecycle.
[c] WATER SUPPLY AND DRAIN CONNECTIONS
*Theconnectionsdifferforeachinstallationsite.CheckthelocationsoftheWaterSupply
LineShut-offValve,WaterSupplyValveandDrainValve.
[d] AUTOMATIC ICEMAKING PROCESS
*WhentheStorageBinislledwithiceandicepushestheBinControlSwitchLever,the
unit will stop the icemaking process automatically.  The Display will change to the “bin

full”indication.
*WhentheicelevelintheStorageBindecreasesandtheBinControlSwitchLevergoes
backtotheoriginalposition,theunitwillresumetheicemakingprocessautomatically.
*When the Storage Bin fills up, move stored ice to the left side for maximum storage
capacity.
*IceintheStorageBinwillmeltgraduallytobecomelessclearandsmooth,butwillclear
againindrinks.
II. OPERATION
1. START UP
[a] START UP
IMPORTANT
Incaseoflowwater,opentheDrainValvetodrainrustywaterbeforestartingup
theunit.
1)OpentheWaterSupplyLineShut-offValve.
2)OpentheWaterSupplyValve.
3)Plugtheunitintoaseparateoutlet.
4)RemovetheFrontCover.
5)TurnonthePowerSwitch(EarthLeakageCircuitBreaker).TheDisplaywillilluminate
theletters“on”,andtheunitwillstarttheautomaticicemakingprocessin3minutes.
6)ReplacetheFrontCoverinitscorrectposition.
[b] REMOVAL OF FRONT COVER
1)Lift up the Front Cover 1 cm and pull
towardyou.
2)To replace, fit the notch in the Front
Coveragainst the tab on the frame, and
pulldown.

FRONTCOVER”.
3)OpentheDoor,andpushtheBinControlSwitchLeverlocatedinthebackrightsideof
theStorageBintotherightfor60seconds.
4)When theDisplayshowsthe“binfull” indication,turnoff thePowerSwitch(Earth
LeakageCircuitBreaker).
5)Unplugtheunit.
6)Replace the Front Cover in its correct position.  See “1. [b] REMOVAL OF FRONT
COVER”.
7)RemoveallicefromtheStorageBin,cleantheinteriorandexterior,anddrywell.

[b] PREPARING THE ICEMAKER FOR LONG STORAGE
IMPORTANT
1.When shutting down the unit for more than a day, drain the unit to prevent
possiblebacterialgrowth.
2.Ifthereisapossibilityoffreezing,draintheunit.
1)ClosetheWaterSupplyLineShut-off
Valve.
2)Open the Drain Valve to drain the water
circuit.
3)Connect a hose end (R1/2 for propane
gas, available in gas appliance stores) to
thedrainoutletoftheDrainValve.
4)Connectacommercially availablevinyl
gashosebetweenthehoseendandafoot
pump(availableintoystores).
5)Remove the Front Cover, and press the
Reset Button.  See “1. [b] REMOVAL OF
FRONTCOVER”.
6)After 15 seconds, use the foot pump to
send in air from the water supply inlet to
draintheinternalwatercircuit.
7)PresstheResetButton.WhentheWaterPanopensin40seconds,turnoffthePower
Switch(EarthLeakageCircuitBreaker).
8)Unplugtheunit.
9)Replace the Front Cover in its correct position.  See “1. [b] REMOVAL OF FRONT
COVER”.
10)RemoveallicefromtheStorageBin,cleantheinteriorandexterior,anddrywell.
11)Disconnectthehoseend,andclosetheWaterSupplyValveandDrainValve.

III. MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTION

IMPORTANT
1.Alwaysusecleanhandsandclothstoconductcleaningoperations.
2.Moveiceintoacleancontainer.
3.Topreventdeformationoftheplasticparts,donotwashtheScoop,Storage
BinandAirFilterinhotwaterabove40°C.
4.Invertsoapisrecommendedforcleaning.Refertotheinstructionmanualof
invertsoapforitsproperuse.
5.Mix1Lofwarmwater(30-40°C)withtwocaps(10mL)of10%invertsoap
(benzalkoniumchloride)solution(availableatpharmacies).Useacleancloth
containing the solution to wipe the unit thoroughly. After 3 minutes, use a
clothdampedwithcoldorwarmwatertowipeoffanyremainingsolutionthat
maydamagethemetalorplasticsurfaces.
6.To prevent damage to the painted or plastic surfaces, do not use thinner,
benzine,alcohol,petroleum,soappowder,polishingpowder,alkaline
detergent, acid, scrub brush, and especially cleanser for use on fans and
cookingranges.Also,donotuseanycorrosivematerials.
7.Whenusingachemicalcloth,followtheinstructionsforuse.
8.Removeheavysoilasrequired.
[a] FOR SAFE HANDLING OF ICE
*Touseiceforhumanconsumption,dailymaintenanceandinspectionareimportant.
*Whentheicemakerisusedforalongtime,scale,moldorrustmaymixinicedepending
ontemperature,waterqualityoraging.Especially,keepcleantheStorageBininteriorby
dailymaintenance.IfanyforeignmaterialisfoundatthebottomoftheStorageBinorin
iceduringoperationormaintenance,stopusingtheicemaker,and immediatelycontact
anauthorizedHoshizakiservicecompany.
[b] SCOOP (DAILY)
Soakinwarmwater(30-40°C)containingsodiumhypochloriteformorethan3minutes.
Thenrinsewithtapwaterandwipedry.

AlwayskeeptheDoor andDoorHandlecleanbecausetheyarepronetobacterial
contamination.Useasoftclothcontainingwarmwatertowipethemclean.
TheDoorismadeofstainlesssteel,butshouldbekeptcleantopreventpossiblecorrosion.

1.The Doorhasapaintedsurface.Donotuseacommerciallyavailable
stainlesssteelcleanertoavoidpossibledamage.

1)Remove the Front Cover.  Pull theAir Filter toward
you, and lift it off.  See “1. [b] REMOVAL OF FRONT
COVER”.
2)Diluteaneutraldetergentincoldorwarmwater.Wash
theAirFiltercarefullynottobreakthemesh.Rinseand
drywell.
3)Fit the tab at theAir Filter bottom into the hole in the
FrontCover,andfixtheAirFilterinplacewiththe
magnetatthetop.

Even if there is no problem with its use, a product out of warranty may have a risk of
electric shock, re, or water leak due to insulation degradation or aging of the electrical

[b] EARTH LEAKAGE CIRCUIT BREAKER (MONTHLY)
Open the Front Cover, and press the Test Button with
the tip of a ball-point pen or the like. The lever must
movetothe“OFF”position.
IMPORTANT
Iftheleverdoesnotmovetothe“OFF”position,immediately contactan
authorizedHoshizakiservicecompany.
