1 Bestimmungsgemäße Ver-
wendung, Gewährleistung
Sehen Sie auf dem Typenschild an der Ge-
räterückseite nach, für welche Schnittbreite
und Netzspannung Ihr Aktenvernichter aus-
gelegt ist und beachten Sie die zutreffenden
Punkte der Betriebsanleitung.
Der Aktenvernichter ist zum Vernichten von
Papier bestimmt. Je nach Schnittart können
außerdem geringe Mengen folgender Mate-
rialien vernichtet werden:

Lesen Sie vor Inbetriebnahme der
Maschine die Betriebsanleitung,
bewahren Sie sie für späteren
Gebrauch auf und geben Sie die
Anleitung an spätere Nutzer weiter. Beach-
ten Sie alle auf dem Aktenvernichter ange-
brachten Sicherheitshinweise.
WARNUNG
Gefahren für Kinder und andere
Personen!
Die Maschine darf nicht durch
Personen (einschließlich Kindern
unter 14 Jahren) mit eingeschränk-
ten physischen, sensorischen oder
geistigen Fähigkeiten oder man-
gels Erfahrung und/oder mangels Wissen
benutzt werden, es sei denn, sie werden
durch eine für ihre Sicherheit zuständige
Person beaufsichtigt oder erhielten von ihr
Anweisungen, wie das Gerät zu benutzen
ist. Kinder sollen beaufsichtigt werden, um
sicherzustellen, dass sie nicht mit dem Ge-
rät spielen. Lassen Sie den Aktenvernichter
nicht unbeaufsichtigt eingeschaltet.
Das robuste Schneidwerk ist unempfindlich
gegen Heft- und Büroklammern. Lediglich
bei Maschinen der Schnittbreite 1x5 mm
darf das Papier keine Heft- oder Büroklam-
mern enthalten.
Die Garantiezeit für den Aktenvernichter be-
trägt 3 Jahre. Es gilt eine von der Gewähr-
leistung unabhängige Garantie für HSM
Vollstahl-Schneidwellen der Aktenvernichter
während der gesamten Gerätelebensdauer
(HSM Lifetime Warranty). Ausgenommen
hiervon sind die Aktenvernichter mit Schnitt-
breite 0,78x11 mm und 1x5 mm. Verschleiß,
Schäden durch unsachgemäßen Gebrauch
sowie Eingriffe von dritter Seite fallen weder
unter die Gewährleistung noch unter die
Garantie.
HSM gewährleistet die Lieferung von Er-
satzteilen bis 10 Jahre nach Auslaufen der
Produktion dieses Modells.
Hinweis: Aktenvernichter mit Partikel-
schneidwerk werden als Option auch mit
einem Gerät zum automatischen Schmieren
des Schneidwerks angeboten. Beachten Sie
die beiliegende Dokumentation des Ölers,
falls Ihre Maschine damit ausgerüstet ist.

WARNUNG
Gefährliche Netzspannung!
Fehlerhafter Umgang mit der Ma-
schine kann zu elektrischem
Stromschlag führen.
– Überprüfen Sie vor dem Einstecken des
Netzsteckers, dass Spannung und Fre-
quenz Ihres Stromnetzes mit den Anga-
ben auf dem Typenschild übereinstim-
men.
– Achten Sie darauf, dass der Netzstecker
leicht erreichbar ist.
– Vermeiden Sie, dass Wasser in den
Aktenvernichter gelangt. Tauchen Sie
weder Netzkabel noch Netzstecker in
Wasser.
– Fassen Sie den Netzstecker niemals mit
feuchten Händen an.
– Ziehen Sie den Netzstecker nie an der
Zuleitung aus der Steckdose, sondern
fassen Sie immer den Netzstecker an.
– Verwenden Sie das Gerät nur in trocke-
nen Innenräumen. Betreiben Sie es nie in
Feuchträumen oder im Regen.

Fassen Sie niemals in den Schlitz
der Papierzufuhr.

Bringen Sie lange Haare, lose
Kleidung, Krawatten, Schals,

Bänder, Verschnürungen, Weich-
plastikfolien.

5 Bedienung
WARNUNG
Stellen Sie vor dem Einschalten der
Maschine sicher, dass alle Sicher-
heitshinweise beachtet wurden.
CDs vernichten
(nur in den Schnittgrößen 5,8 mm, 3,9 mm,
4,5x30 mm) • Führen Sie die CD
nur durch den Schlitz
im Sicherheitselement
zu. Das schützt Sie vor
Splittern.
Hinweis:
Für eine sortenreine
Trennung des geshred-
derten Materials kön-
nen Sie den mitgeliefer-
ten CD-Sack einsetzen.
Aktenvernichter einschalten
• Stecken Sie den Netzstecker der Maschi-
ne in eine ordnungsgemäß installierte
Steckdose.
• Schalten Sie den Netzschalter an der
Rückseite des Aktenvernichters auf „I“.
• Drücken Sie die Bedientaste.
Anzeige „Betriebsbereit“ leuchtet.
Papier vernichten
• Bei Papierzufuhr startet die Lichtschranke
das Schneidwerk automatisch.
2 Sekunden nachdem die Lichtschranke
in der Papierzufuhr wieder frei ist wird
das Schneidwerk automatisch abgeschal-
tet und der Aktenvernichter geht in Be-
triebsbereitschaft.Hinweis:
Zum Vernichten grö-
ßerer Papiermengen
können Sie das Sicher-
heitselement nach
oben klappen. Dadurch
ist die Zuführöffnung
leichter zugänglich.
Kreditkarten vernichten
(nur in den Schnittgrößen 5,8 mm, 3,9 mm,
4,5x30 mm, 1,9x15 mm)
Bei Schnittgröße 5,8 mm, 3,9 mm,
4,5x30 mm führen Sie die Karten durch den
CD-Schlitz zu. Bei Maschinen mit Schnitt-
größe 1,9x15 mm geben Sie sie in die Pa-
pierzufuhr.
Aktenvernichter ausschalten
• Drücken Sie die Bedientaste.
Anzeige „Betriebsbereit“ verlischt.
• Schalten Sie den Netzschalter an der
Rückseite des Aktenvernichters auf „0“.
Bitte achten Sie auf die Umwelt und ent-
sorgen Sie die unterschiedlichen Materiali-
en getrennt.

Weitere Funktionsmodi
• Permanent-Modus
Anwendung: Vernichtung von größeren
Papiermengen
Funktion: Schneidwerk läuft ununterbrochen.
Wenn 2 min kein Material zugeführt wird,
schaltet das Schneidwerk ab und der
Aktenvernichter geht in Betriebsbereit-
schaft.
Start: Drücken Sie die Bedientaste 3 Se-
kunden lang.
Vorzeitiger Abbruch: Drücken Sie die
Bedientaste.
• Stand-by-Modus
Funktion: 2 Minuten nach der letzten Pa-
pierzufuhr werden automatisch alle unnö-
tigen Verbraucher abgeschaltet.
Die Anzeige „Betriebsbereit“ blitzt in re-
gelmäßigen Abständen kurz auf.
Bei Papierzufuhr läuft der Aktenvernichter
selbständig an.

stau Sie haben zu viel Papier auf einmal zugeführt. Das Schneidwerk läuft einige Sekunden rückwärts und schiebt das
Papier heraus.
• Drücken Sie gegebenenfalls noch die Reversiertaste „R“, um den Pa-
pierstapel zu entnehmen.
• Halbieren Sie den Papierstapel.
• Führen Sie das Papier nacheinander zu.
Überlast • Der Motor wurde überlastet. Lassen Sie den Aktenvernichter vor erneu-
ter Inbetriebnahme 20 Minuten abkühlen.

• Während der Papiervernichtung ist ein Fehler aufgetreten.
Ziehen Sie das Papier aus dem Eingabeschlitz, sodass die Licht-
schranke frei ist.

Hinweis:
Wenn Sie vor dem Entnehmen des Behälters die Reversiertaste kurz-
zeitig betätigen, wird ein Teil des Schnittgutes in das Schneidwerk
zurückgezogen.

7 Reinigung und Wartung
WARNUNG
Gefährliche Netzspannung!
Schalten Sie den Aktenvernichter
aus und ziehen Sie den Netzstecker.
Die Reinigung darf nur mit einem weichen
Tuch und einer milden Seifenwasserlösung
erfolgen. Dabei darf kein Wasser in das
Gerät eindringen.
Ölen Sie das Schneid-
werk bei nachlassender
Schnittleistung, Ge-
räuschentwicklung oder
nach jedem Leeren des
Schnittgutbehälters (nur
bei Partikelschnitt)
Verwenden Sie dazu nur
HSM-Schneidblockspezialöl:
• Spritzen Sie das Spezialöl durch die
Papierzufuhr auf ganzer Breite auf die
Schneidwellen.
•• Lassen Sie das Schneidwerk ohne Pa-
pierzufuhr ca. 10 s im Permanent-Modus
laufen.
Papierstaub und Partikel werden gelöst.
8 Entsorgung / Recycling
Elektrische und elektronische
Altgeräte enthalten vielfach noch
wertvolle Materialien, teils aber
auch schädliche Stoffe, die für die
Funktion und Sicherheit notwendig
waren. Bei falscher Entsorgung
oder Handhabung können diese für die
menschliche Gesundheit und die Umwelt
gefährlich sein. Geben Sie Altgeräte nie in
den Restmüll. Beachten Sie die aktuell
geltenden Vorschriften und nutzen Sie Sam-
melstellen zur Rückgabe und Verwertung
elektrischer und elektronischer Altgeräte.
Führen Sie auch alle Verpackungsmateriali-
en einer umweltgerechten Entsorgung zu.

1 Proper use, warranty
The shredder is designed for destroying
paper. Depending on the cutting type, it can
also handle small quantities of the following
materials:

Check the name plate on the back of the
machine to find out the cutting width and
mains voltage for your document shredder
and observe the applicable instructions in
the operating manual.

Before using the machine for the
first time, read the operating man-
ual, and keep it for later use and to
pass on to any subsequent users.
Observe all safety instructions onto the
machine.

Dangerous for children and

The machine may not be used by
persons (including children under
14 years of age) with limited physi-
cal, sensory or mental capabilities
or with a lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they are supervised by
a responsible person or are instructed by
them on the use of the machine. Children
must be supervised to ensure they do not
play with the machine. Do not leave the
document shredder switched on when it is
unattended.
Its sturdy drive mechanism is not damaged
by paper clips and staples. Only on ma-
chines with a cutting width of 1 x 5 mm can
the paper not contain staples or paper clips.
The warranty period for the document
shredder is 3 years. There is a special war-
ranty for the HSM solid steel cutting roll-
ers in the document shredder, which is
provided independently of the guarantee,
and remains valid for the entire service life
of the machine (HSM Lifetime Warranty).
This does not apply to document shredders
with cutting widths of 0.78 x 11 mm and
1 x 5 mm. This warranty and guarantee ex-
clude wear and damage caused by improp-
er handling or actions taken by third parties.
HSM guarantees the delivery of spare parts
for up to 10 years after the production of
this model has been discontinued..
Note: Document shredders with a particle
cutting unit also come with an optional de-
vice for lubricating the cutting unit. Note the
documentation enclosed for the oiler if your
machine is equipped with one.

WARNING
Dangerous mains voltage!
Improper handling of the machine
can lead to an electric shock.
– Before you insert the power plug, make
sure that the voltage and frequency of
your power supply comply with the infor-
mation on the name plate.
– Make sure that the power plug is easily
accessible.
– Make sure that no water gets into the
shredder. Do not immerse the power ca-
ble or the power plug in water.
– Never touch the power plug with wet
hands.
– Never pull the plug out of the socket us-
ing the power cable. Always pull out the
plug directly.
– Only use the machine in a dry room in-
doors. Never operate the machine in
damp rooms or in the rain.

Keep long hair, loose articles of
clothing, ties, scarves, jewellery,
etc. away from feed opening. Ma-
terial with the tendency to form

The ventilation slots must not be blocked
or covered and there must be at least
5 cm space between the shredder and
any wall or furniture.

5 Operation
WARNING
Before switching the machine on,
make sure that you observe all
safety instructions.
Shredding CDs
(only in cut size: 5.8 mm, 3.9 mm, 4.5x30 mm)
• Only feed the material
into the insertion slot
of the safety element
(splinter protection).
Note:
To completely separate
the materials shredded,
you can insert the CD
bag supplied.
Switching on the shredder
• Connect the power plug of the machine
into a properly installed socket.
•
Set mains switch at rear of paper shredder
to „I“.
• Press the operation button.
The “Ready for operation” indicator lights
up.
Shredding paper
• When you feed paper, the light barrier
automatically starts the cutting unit.
Two seconds after the light barrier in the
paper feed opening is free again, the cut-
ting unit is switched off automatically and
the shredder switches to standby.
Note:
You can fold the safety
element upwards to
shred larger quantities
of paper. This makes
it easier to access the
feed opening.
Please consider the environment and dis-
pose of different materials separately.
Shredding credit cards
(only in cut size: 5.8 mm, 3.9 mm, 4.5x30 mm,
1.9x15 mm)
Feed the cards through the CD slot
when the cut size is 5.8 mm, 3.9 mm and
4.5x30 mm. For machines with a cutting
width of 1.9x15 mm, use the paper feed.
Switching off the shredder
• Press the operation button.
The “Ready for operation” indicator goes
out.
• Set mains switch at rear of paper shred-
der to „0“.

Other function modes
• Permanent mode
Application: Destroying large quantities of
paper
Function: Cutting unit runs continuously.
If no material is fed in within a period of
2 minutes, the cutting unit shuts down
and the shredder switches to standby.
Start: Press the operation button for three
seconds.
Premature cancellation: Press the
operation button.
• Stand-by mode
Function: Two minutes after the last pa-
per feed operation, all consumers that are
not required are switched off automati-
cally.
The „Ready for operation“ indicator flash-
es briefly at regular intervals.
The shredder starts automatically when
paper is fed in.
6 Troubleshooting

7 Cleaning and maintenance
WARNING
Dangerous mains voltage!
Switch off the shredder and pull
out the mains plug.
When cleaning only use a soft cloth and a
mild soap-water solution. However, no water
must enter the equipment.
Oil the cutting unit when
cutting performance de-
creases or the device
becomes noisy, or every
time you empty the waste
container (Cross cut
only).
Only use HSM special
lubricating oil for the
cutting unit to do this:
• Spray the special cutting unit oil through
the paper feed along the entire width of
the cutting shafts.
• Let the cutting unit run in the permanent
mode for about 10 seconds without any
paper.
Paper dust and particles are shaken off.
8 Disposal / Recycling
Electrical and electronic old de-
vices contain a variety of valuable
materials, but also hazardous
substances which were required
for function and safety. Incorrect
disposal or handling can be dan-
gerous to your health and the environment.
Never dispose of old devices in the house-
hold waste. Observe the current applicable
regulations and use the collection points for
returning and recycling electric and elec-
tronic devices. Dispose of all the packaging
materials also in an environmentally-respon-
sible way.

Le mécanisme de coupe, robuste, résiste
aux agrafes et aux trombones. Sur les
machines de largeur de coupe 1 x 5 mm,
les agrafes et les trombones sont à retirer
impérativement des documents
La durée de garantie du destructeur de
documents est de 3 ans. HSM accorde
une garantie spéciale (HSM Lifetime War-
ranty), indépendante de la garantie, sur les
cylindres de coupe en acier fabriqués d’une
seule pièce des destructeurs de documents,
pendant toute la durée de vie de l’appareil.
Les destructeurs de documents de largeur
de coupe 0,78 x 11 mm et 1 x 5 mm ne
sont pas concernés par cette prescription.
L’usure ou les dommages causés par toute
utilisation impropre, ou par des interventions
d’un tiers ne sont ni couverts par la respon-
sabilité du fabricant, ni par la prestation de
garantie.
HSM garantit la livraison de pièces déta-
chées jusqu‘à 10 ans après la fin de la pro-
duction de ce modèle.
Remarque : Les destructeurs de docu-
ments à dispositif de coupe en particules
sont proposés en option avec un appareil
permettant la lubrification automatique du
dispositif de coupe. Respectez la documen-
tation fournie avec l’huileur si votre machine

AVERTISSEMENT

– Vérifiez avant de brancher la prise sec-

votre réseau électrique correspondent

tructeur de documents. Ne plongez ni les
câbles secteur ni la fiche secteur dans

– Ne tirez jamais sur le câble pour débran-
cher la fiche de la prise secteur, tenez

5 Manipulation
AVERTISSEMENT

Mise en marche
• Branchez la fiche secteur de la machine
dans une prise secteur d’installation
conforme.
• Mettre le commutateur principal sur le
revers du destructeur de documents
sur la pos. « I ».
• Appuyez sur le bouton de commande.
Le voyant « en ordre de marche » s‘al-
lume.
Destruction de documents
• La cellule photoélectrique lance automa-
tiquement le dispositif de coupe lors de
l’introduction de documents.
2 s après que la cellule photoélectrique
de l‘ouverture d‘introduction de papier est
de nouveau libre, le dispositif de coupe
se met automatiquement à l‘arrêt et le
destructeur de documents se met en
veille. Remarque:
Lorsque vous détruisez
d’importantes quantités
de papier, vous pouvez
rabattre l’élément de
sécurité vers le haut.
L’ouverture d’alimenta-
tion est ainsi plus faci-
lement accessible.
Destruction des cartes de crédit
(largeur de coupe de 5,8 mm, 3,9 mm,
4,5x30 mm, 1,9x15 mm)
Pour les tailles de coupe 5,8 mm, 3,9 mm,
4,5x30 mm, introduisez les cartes dans
la fente pour CD. Pour les machines de
largeur de coupe 1,9 x15 mm, placez les
cartes dans l’alimentation papier.
Mise hors circuit
• Appuyez sur le bouton de commande.
Le voyant « en ordre de marche »
s‘éteint.
• Mettre le commutateur principal sur le
