AFewWordsAboutYourNewOutdoorSpeakers
HTDOutdoorSpeakersaredesignedtoaccuratelyreproducehighfidelitymusicinanoutdoorenvironment.They
producecrisphighsnecessaryforanoutdoorsituationaswellasasurprisingamountofbassgiventheircompactsize.
HTDOutdoorSpeakersarewaterproofandbuilttolastthroughallseasons.Allexposedscrewsarestainlesssteel
andthealuminumgrilleispowder-coatedsorustisnotanissue.Thecabinetismadeofahigh-impactABSpolymer
andincludespaintwithUVprotection.Theprimarycomponentsincludeapolypropylenedriverwithabutylrubber
surroundandaPEItweeterthatholdupunderextremetemperaturefluctuations.
MountingtheSpeakers
InstallationofyourHTDoutdoorspeakersisfairlysimple,butifyoudonotfeelyouhavetheskillsnecessarytosafely
completetheinstallation,pleaseconsultaprofessionalinstaller.Makesurethematerialonwhichyouplantomount
thespeakerscansupporttheweightofthespeakers.Hardwareisprovidedforattachingthebracketsdirectlytoa
solidwoodbeam(suchasawallstud)andalsotosturdydrywallthatisatleast5/8”thick.Neverattachthespeakers
toawallthatmightcontainelectricalwiringorplumbing.

AlthoughHTDoutdoorspeakersarewaterproofandcanbeplaceddirectlyintheelements,mountingthespeakers
underaporch,eave,oroverhangwillimprovethespeaker’slongevity.Placingthespeakerinacornerwillalsohelp
improvebassperformance.Alwaysmountthespeakerssothattheyareaimedslightlydownwardinordertonotcollect
rainwater.
HTDoutdoorspeakerscanbemountedverticallyorhorizontallyandthenaimedasneededtodeliverthebestsound
performanceforyourarea.Inmostcases,youwillachievethebeststereosoundandimagingifyoumountboth
speakersalongthesamewallbetween7and15feetapart.
1.Usingthe“keyhole”slotsintheU-bracketsasaguide,markwherethetwoscrewswillbeinstalled.
2.Ifastudisnotavailablebehindthedrywall,drillaholeslightlysmallerthanthediameterofthedrywall
anchor and insert the drywall anchor until it is flush with the wall. Drive screws into a wall stud (if
available)orintothedrywallanchorsleavingthescrewheadsprotrudingabout1/8”fromthewall.Always
usetwoscrews(andtwodrywallanchorsifnostudisavailable)foreachspeaker.
3.Runthespeakercableintopositionandpullthecablethroughtheholeinthecenterofthebracketbefore
mountingthebracket.Leaveanextra18”ofcabletomakeinstallationandpositioningofthespeaker
easier.
4.Withthebracketattachedtothespeaker(usingtheroundbracketknobs),placethelargecenterportion
ofeach“keyhole”overtheprotrudingheadsofeachscrew.Slidethespeakerandbracketsdownsothat
thescrewheadslipsbehindthesmallerendofthekeyhole.
5.Tuggentlyoneachspeakerandbrackettomakesurethatthescrewsandbracketareproperlyheld
snugly in place. If necessary, disconnect a speaker from the bracket, tighten the screws, and then
reattachthespeaker.
6. Connect the speaker cables to the speaker before connecting the other end to your amplifier: Strip
approximately 1/2” of insulation away and tightly twist the wires. For both the positive and negative
cable,twistopenthebindingpostbyturningcounter-clockwisetorevealan“eye”.Insertthewireintothe
“eye”andtightenthebindingpostbackdown.Whenconnectingaspeakeritisimportanttomaintain
correctpolarity.Todothis,besurethatthewireattachedtothe+,red,orpositiveterminalonthespeaker
connectstothe+,red,orpositiveterminalontheamplifier.Similarly,the-,black,ornegativeterminalon
thespeakermustbeconnectedtotherespective-,black,ornegativeterminalontheamplifier.Mostcable
iseithercolorcodedorhassometypeofwritingorothermarkonittohelpyoumaintainconsistency.
7.Withtheamplifierturnedoff,connecttheotherendofthespeakercableinaccordancewiththeinstructions
providedwiththatcomponent.Onceconnected,turnontheamplifierandtestthespeakers.
