Quidway® AR 46 Router E3/T3 Interface Module
Overview
The E3/T3 interface module of the AR46 router includes four types: FIC-1CE3, FIC-1CT3,
FIC-1AE3 and FIC-1AT3.
The major functions of E3 interface module, FIC-1CE3, of the AR46 router are:
In the E3 working mode, it can transmit and process one-channel E3 high-speed data flow and
provide the access service for E3 data flow.

In the CE3 working mode, it can provide N × 64 Kbps (N is no more than 128) lower-rate
access service for users.
The major functions of T3 interface module, FIC-1CT3, of the AR46 router are:
In the T3 working mode, it can transmit and process one-channel T3 high-speed data flow and
provide the access service for T3 data flow.
In the CT3 working mode, it can provide N × 64 Kbps or 56 Kbps (N is no more than 128)
lower-rate access service for users.
FIC-1AE3 is the abbreviation of 1-port 34.368 Mbps ATM-E3 interface card. FIC-1AT3 indicates
1-port 44.736 Mbps ATM-T3 interface card. Where, ATM stands for Asynchronous Transfer Mode.
They have the following function features in the system:
Support two ATM cell mapping modes: ATM Direct Mapping (ADM) and Physical Layer
Convergence Protocol (PLCP).
Allow scrambling transmission in data sending.
Support two clock modes: line clock (when serving as DTE interface) and internal clock (when
serving as DCE interface).
Support four self-loop test modes: local cell loop, local loop, remote load loop and remote line
loop.
