InstallationandBasic
Configuration
HardwareInstallation
1. ConnectthehandsetandtelephonecordtothebaseoftheVoIPPhone.
2. UsetheenclosedEthernetcabletoconnecttheLANporttoahub orswitch,ortoa
DSLRouterorCableModem.
3. Connectthepowersupplyusing theenclosedACpowersupply.
4. Forthefirsttimeinstallation,thephonewill scanthenetworkforavailableservices
whichare DHCP,PPPoE,and FixedIP. Selectthepreferredserviceand enterthe
requiredinformationifneeded. No userinputis requiredforDHCP service.UserID
andPasswordarerequiredforPPPoE.IPaddress,Netmask,and GatewayIPAddress
are requiredforFixedIPmode.
AccessingtheWebConfigurationMenu
ThestepsforaccessingtheVoIPPhoneWebConfigurationMenuare:
ØObtaintheVoIPPhoneIPaddress.
ØEntertheIPaddressintoabrowser.

Obtaining theVoIPPhoneIPAddress
To retrievetheIPaddressfromtheVoIPPhone:
ØWhenthephoneisintheon-hookstate,press Menu.

ØSingleServer Mode –This modeallowsSIPregistrations toonly oneSIPServer /
Proxy;however,itcansupportupto4registrationswithdifferentSIPnumbersand
names(Contact).Abackupserveroptionisavailableanditwillbeusedonce
registration totheprimaryserverfails.Line1toLine4keys arepredefinedforthe
“Contact1”, “Contact2”, “Contact3”, and “Contact4”insequence. Thisallowsthe
usertospecifywhichidentity(Contact:SIPnumberandname)will beusedforthe
call.ThedefaultistousethecontactinformationforLine1(Contact1).
ØMultipleServerMode –This modeallowsup to4SIPregistrations todifferentSIP
servers/proxiesasshownbelow. TheProfile1is alwaysusedasthedefault SIP
serverwhenacallismadewithoutspecifyingthedesignatedSIPserver. Line1to
Line4keys arepredefinedforlineselection. IfaProfileis notprogrammed, the
correspondinglineselectionkeyisdisabled.

MoreConfigurations
ChangingthePasswords
TheEP-8201supportstwo levelsofconfigurations(userand administrator)viaeither the
PhoneMenu orthe Webpage.Theuserlevelisrestrictedfromchangingthecallsettings.
Thisadministratorlevelallowsfull accesstothephoneconfigurations. Eachlevelhasits
own passwordandisrequiredbeforeenteringtheconfigurationinterface.
Theusernamefortheuserlevelis “user”and fortheadministratorlevelis “admin”.The
UserPasswordcanbechangedviathewebpagein bothuserandadministratormodes.
However, theAdministratorPasswordcanonly bechangedintheadministratormode.The
defaultpasswordfor user is “1234”and for admin is “admin .
To changethePassword(s):
1. EntertheVoIPphonewebpage
2. Select Tools andthen ChangePassword
3. Enterthe NewPassword and ConfirmPassword undertheUser Leveland/or
AdministrationLevel.
4. Click Change.

Setting theLCD Defaultdisplay
YoucansetupthephoneLCDtodisplaytwolinesoftext whenthephoneis idle.
To settheVendorName(title) andTitleonLCD(Subtitle) inthephone:
1. EntertheVoIPphonewebpage
2. Select Configurations andthen PhoneSettings
3. Fillin theVendorName (Title)field forthefirsttext line.
4. Fillin theTitleonLCD(Subtitle) field forthesecondlineon LCD.
SelectingNetworkTones
TheNetworkToneisthedialtoneonehearswhentheypickup thehandsettomakeacall,
andtheringbacktonewhentheydialtoanumber. YoucanselectNetworkTonesandRing
TonefortheVoIPPhone, dependingonthecountrywherethephoneis located.
To selectNetworkTones:
1. SelectthePreference tabundertheConfigurationmenutoaccessthePreferencepage.
2. Selectacountryonthelistbesidethelabel NetworkTones.Ifyourcountryis not on
thelist,youcanchoose Customized andthenenterthenetworktonedefinitionsas
desired.
SelectingRing Tone
Distinctiveringingissupportedin bothSingleServerModeandMultipleServerMode.
Each Contact or Profile containsaRingTypefieldwhichcanbeassignedtooneofthe
fourpredefinedringtones.
To selectRing Tone:
1. SelecttheCalling Settingsunder theConfigurationmenu
2. Choosea Contact forSingleServerModeora Profile forMultipleServerMode
3. Selectaringtype(Type 1, Type2, Type3, Type4)listedbesidethe RingType label.
NetworkConfiguration
TheNetworkConfigurationsscreenallowsyoutosetup theIPaddressesoftheLANand
PCport, BridgeorRoutermode(byselectingordeselectingBridgeMode), default
GatewayAddress, andPrimaryandSecondaryDNSserverIPaddresses.
Note: thePrimaryDNSfieldwilldefaulttotheIPaddress ofyourDHCP server.

LAN PortConfiguration
TheVoIPPhoneLANportcanbeconfiguredtoobtain its IPaddressbyDHCP ortheIP
addresscanbesetstatically(usedmainly whenusingthephonewithaDSLline).
IfyouobtainastaticIPaddressfromyourISP,you canassignitto theVoIPPhoneLAN
portbychoosing “StaticIP”selectionandthenenteringthefieldsasprovided.
1. EnterIPaddressofthephonebeside IPAddress.
2. Entersubnetmaskbeside Subnet Mask tospecifytheLANNetmask.
3. EnterIPaddressofthedefaultrouterbeside DefaultRoute.
4. EnterPrimaryandSecondaryDNSaddresses.
PCPortConfiguration
BridgeMode istherecommendedsettingfortheVoIPPhone. This configurationis
importantforanenvironmentwithanexistingLANandonlyoneEthernetoutlet. Itallows
acomputer connectedtothePC porttoaccesstheexistingLAN.Thereisnoneedto
reconfigure thePCortheexistingLAN.
Inaddition, thePCportalsooffersaStaticIPmodewhichenablesanewnetworksegment
tobesetup.ADHCP server canalsobeenabledtofacilitateIPaddressassignmentand
management.
Setting theTimeServerandTimeZone
TheTime ServeristheNetworkTime ProtocolserverwheretheVoIPPhoneretrievesdate
andtimeinformation. Thetimeis in GMT ±offset.Forexample, PacificStandardTimeis
GMT-8,andPacificDaylight TimeisGMT-7.
To settheTime Serverandthetime zone:
1. Atthe TimeServer field,enter theIPaddressorthedomain name(FQDN)ofavalid
Time Serverentry.Itis settotimekeeper.isi.eduasfactorydefault.
2. Atthe TimeZone field, enter GMT+xwhere xisthetimedifference betweenyour
timezoneandGMT.
Performing anOnlineUpgrade
WARNING! Performinganonlineupgradeis forexperiencedusersoradministratorsonly!
To preparetheVoIPPhoneforanonlineupgrade:
1. Click Tools andthen OnlineUpgrade.
2. EntertheIPaddressordomainnameoftheupgradeserverandpackagename(ex.

3. Click Start.
4. Themessagebelow appearswhenthefirmwareupgradeis completed.Click OK to
continue.

ResetConfigurationSettings
IfyouwouldliketoresettheIPphonetofactoryconfiguration, clickonthe Tools andthen
ResetConfig. Press “Yes”in thedialogbox toconfirmthereset. Pleaseremembertouse
thedefaultpasswords toaccessthephoneagain.
SystemReboot
IfyouwouldliketoreboottheVoIPphone,clickon the Tools and then Reboot.Press
“Yes”inthedialogboxtoconfirm thereboot.Thephonewillthenrebootautomatically.
