1. Preface
1.1 Introduction to the manual
Before each intervention to the machine or its packaging, all operators
using the machine must read and follow the instructions in the manual
very carefully! Hydroscand Machine AB declines any responsibility for
damage to persons, things or to the machine itself, arising from its
incorrect use, negligence and/or superficial interpretations of safety
concepts in this manual.
This information is the result of continuous, systematic data processing and
technical tests recorded and validated by the manufacturer. All in
accordance with the international procedures 89/392/EEC, 91/368/EEC and
93/68/EEC to ensure the safety of information.
The information is intended EXCLUSIVELY for specialized users, capable
of interacting with the product with the utmost safety people, the machine
and the environment demands, interpreting basic diagnostics of problems
and malfunctions and performing simple checks and maintenance. All in full
compliance with the instructions given from the pages that follow and with
current health and safety regulations on site.
The purpose of this manual is to provide the necessary information for
competent, safe use of the machine. The manual does not in depth examine
the topics of disassembly and/or extraordinary maintenance. Our authorized
Technical Service personnel must always carry out these operations.
To handle the machine properly, it is necessary to keep the manual in good
condition for the future. This instruction manual should serve for the
duration of the machine’s operating lifecycle and be available for at least ten
(10) years. Contact the nearest authorized technical service office if you are
in need of a new manual or other information regarding the machine. It is
recommended that this manual be kept in a well known and accessible place
along with other documents related to the machine.

2. General precautions
The use of improper spare parts, changes and/or manipulations not
responding to Hydroscand Machine AB’s specifications shall exempt
Hydroscand Machine AB from any responsibility regarding the proper
use and functioning of the machine, the safety of people and/or
property. It is strictly forbidden to tamper with safety equipment
and/or devices. The local service personnel coordinated by the
authorized Technical Service personnel of Hydroscand Machine AB
must carry out any maintenance operations, except for those specially
described in this manual. Do not skive anything but hydraulic hoses,
e.g. wood or other unknown material that can cause damage to people,
property and/or the machine itself.
2.1 General
Do not remove the information plates on the machine. Make sure the plates
are readable and that you are sure of their meaning. If the plates deteriorate,
replace them immediately with new ones ordered from the appropriate
Technical Service office.
Always make sure in advance that the minimum safety, placement and
operating standards are respected. Taking note of the environmental
conditions, temperature, humidity, lighting, vibrations, suspended dust and
the appropriateness of the area to be occupied.
The machine is constructed to operate indoors (workshop, industries etc.)
where there is no risk of explosion or fire. The skiving machine is designed,
manufactured and protected for skiving hydraulic hoses with dimensions
from 3/16” up to 2”. Any other use is excluded by Hydroscand Machine
AB, who shall be exempted from any liability for damage to people,
property or the machine itself, caused by the improper use of the machine.
Do not leave the machine idle running when not in production.
Before skiving, make sure that the hose is placed steady towards the skive
tool. Also make sure that the hose is held steady so that there is no risk for
injuries or damages.
Disposal of processing waste is always done according to the environmental
regulations on site.

3. The equipment
When unpacking the machine make sure that the machine is in perfect
condition and that the package is containing the parts described.
Hydroscand Machine AB does not respond to any errors or missing
parts that are NOT reported within eight (8) days from delivery.
Always dispose the packaging material waste according to the
environmental protecting regulations on site.
The machine is supplied ready to use, except for electrical connection plug,
packed on a pallet.

3.1 Warranty
The warranty certificate is valid for one (1) year following the date of
purchase, and is only granted when the instructions in this manual is fully
understod and complied with.

4. The machine
4.1 General
The information for identifying the machine is found on the plates, located
on the outside of the machine. This essentially includes:
Manufacturer
Serial number
Year of manufacture
Voltage (V)
Hertz (H)
Ampere (A)
Weight
The CE-approval plate is located on the back of the machine.
It is strictly forbidden to remove these plates. If one plate is in any way
removed or damaged, always contact an authorized Technical Service
office in order to replace the removed/damaged plate.
When contacting the authorized Technical Service office for any reason
regarding the machine, always indicate:
Model
Serial number
Edition and preparation date of the instruction manual
4.2 Description
The stationary machine consists of one (1) unit, equipped pneumatic system,
which is maneuvered by a foot pedal. The unit is also equipped with a safety
hatch. The machine is designed, manufactured and protected to skive
hydraulic hoses according to previous descriptions, read on from chapter 2
General precautions.
Any tampering or any maneuvering of the machine NOT described in
this manual may cause damage to people, property or the machine itself
and will exempt Hydroscand Machine AB from any damages.

5. Start-up
5.1 Preliminary steps
IMPORTANT!
It is essential to determine size measurements and placement in
advance in order to ensure safe placement, running and emergency
actions within the surrounding environment. These conditions should
be respected beginning with the preliminary stages, before skiving
begins.
Place the machine on a steady and flat foundation/table.
Check the air pressure (min. 6 bars) and the electrical system. The
machine has a safety system for “to low air pressure”.
Ensure that the skiving tool is securely tightened.
5.2 Operator position
The placement of the tool/machine in relation of the operator’s position
must make it possible to observe the result of the operation and maintain
safety conditions. During this stage, make sure that the Start/Stop button and
the Emergency switch are not blocked and that there is sufficient visibility
and lighting on the machine, the surrounding area and base.

5.3 Starting
The first time using the machine do all of the following adjustments
without any hose to see the working conditions of the equipment and do
remember to keep the fingers and any other bodily parts and/or foreign
material away from the hose grip system!
Assemble the correct tooling and close the hatch.
Release the emergency switch by turning the button clockwise.
Close the “Tool change” switch (Automatic change of tool holder).
Adjust the “Hose grip pressure control” to max. pressure (6-8 bars).
Adjust the “Pressure control system” to 6-8 bars for the skiving
power.
Adjust the skiving speed by valve A and B on the control panel.
Press the button “Reset” and the pneumatic system is ON.
Place the hose fitting on the tool. VERY IMPORTANT: Keep the
fingers around the hose outside of the machine.
Adjust the protection plates in picture 1 and 2 to minimize the free
space around the hose to prevent pinching injuries.
Press the Start/foot pedal and the hose grip system will close and the
tool will go forward and insert the fitting.
When a full stroke is done, relief the foot pedal and the tool will go
back to its starting position and the hose grip system will open.
Check the skiving result.

5.1 Replacement of the tools
Press the emergency switch button.
Open the front hatch.
Loosen the screws on the adaptor.
The tool is now loose. Dismantle the tool and assemble a new one.
Tighten the screws on the adaptor.
Close the hatch.
Press the reset button.
6. Maintenance
After each working shift always press the emergency switch and remove the
tool. Clean the machine removing process waste and check that the safety
switch is working properly. Regularly one must open the hatch and clean the
machine and check that the safety switch is working. When the security
switch is not working the first step is to open the electric box and push the
button on the security switch. Then close the box and try to start the
machine again. When the machine fails to start you must contact an
electrician.

Skiving and Inserting machine
A semi-automatic PLC-controlled skiving machine, quick, reliable
and easy to use. A centering system assures that the hose is
correctly aligned during the entire skiving and inserting process.
PowerSkive 5-50 can also be used for insert of fittings.
