5. BATTERY TOOL USE AND CARE
•Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of
battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.
•Use battery tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create
a risk of injury and fire.
• When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects like paper clips, coins, keys, nails,
screws, or other small metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the
battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
• Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally
occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the
battery may cause irritation or burns.
• The four green lights indicate that the battery pack is full of its charge capacity.
• Press the indicator button once, the LED shows the battery capacity.
• The smallest green light blinking indicates that the battery pack is nearly depleted and needs to be charged
immediately.
• More than one green light blinking indicates the battery is too hot or too cold.

BATTERY PROTECTION FEATURES
40V MAX LITHIUM-ION batteries are designed with features that protect the LITHIUM-ION cells and
maximize battery life. If the tool stops during use, the following may be the causes:
• The maximum current draw of the battery has been exceeded, causing it to automatically stop powering the
tool. Release the trigger to reset the tool and pull the trigger to resume operation.
• Excessive temperatures will cause the battery to stop powering the tool. Feel the battery pack; if it is too
warm, allow it to cool down.
If the tool still does not work, recharge the battery.
CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK
Battery packs are shipped in a low charge condition to prevent possible problems. Therefore, you should
charge them until the green LED on the front of the charger comes on.
If the charger does not charge the battery pack under normal circumstances, return both the battery pack and
charger to your nearest authorized service centre for electrical check.
TO CHARGE:
• Use battery pack only with the recommended charger.
• Connect the charger to the power supply. Make sure the power supply is normal household voltage, 100-
240 volts, AC only, 50/60Hz
• Make sure the latch of the charger snap into place and the battery pack is secured in the charger before
beginning operation.
• Slide the battery pack along the groove of the charger.
• Press down on the battery pack to be sure contacts on the battery pack engage properly with contacts in
the charger.
• Do not place the charger and battery pack in an area of extreme heat or cold. They will work best at normal
room temperature.
• NOTE: The charger and battery pack should be placed in a location where the temperature is more than
10°C but less than 35°C.
• The battery pack will become slightly warm to the touch while charging. This is normal and does not indicate
a problem.
• After charging is complete, the charger green LED will remain on until either the battery pack has been
removed from the charger or the charger has been removed from the power supply
• To remove the battery pack from the charger, depress the latch of the charger.
CHARGING A HOT BATTERY PACK
If the battery pack is above normal temperature range, the charger red LED and green LED will begin flashing.
When the battery pack cools down to approximately 45°C, the charger will automatically begin fast charge
mode.
COLD WEATHER OPERATION
The LITHIUM-ION battery pack can be used in temperatures down to -10°C. Put the battery pack on a tool
and use the tool in a light duty application. After about a minute, the pack will have warmed up and begin
operating normally.
If the battery is too hot, please cool the battery pack until the temperature drops below 65°C.
BATTERIES
These batteries have been designed to provide maximum trouble-free life. However, like all batteries, they
will eventually wear out. Do not disassemble battery pack and attempt to replace the batteries. Handling of
5

these batteries, especially when wearing rings and jewelry, could result in a serious burn.
To obtain the longest possible battery life, we suggest the following:
Remove the battery pack from the charger once it is fully charged and ready for use.
For battery pack storage longer than 30 days :
• Store the battery pack where the temperature is below 27°C and away from moisture.
• Store battery packs in a 40%-60% charged condition.
• Every six months of storage, charge the battery pack as normal.
