Introduction
The ModelE1Controlprovidessophisticated,
demand-based waterconditioning byincorporating a
microprocessorand awatermetertoelectronically
monitorthe amountof waterused daily. The controlis
factory programmed toregeneratewhen the volume
throughputsetting isreached atapresentdelayed
timeof2am.
It isrecommended tode-ratethe throughputsetting
byone daysgeneralusage toensuresoftwateris
availableon the dayofregeneration.Howeverin
instanceswherethisisnotdesired the controlcan be
reprogrammed sothataregeneration can be initiated
immediatelyon reaching the throughput setting.
The controlprovidesefficient, troublefree, soft water.
The SeriesWS1-EIvalvecombinesdesign simplicity
withglass reinforced NORYL* plasticconstruction to
provide an uncommonlyreliableappliance.
Ifmaintenancebecomesnecessary,the ModelWS1-
EIwaterConditionerSystemhasthe capabilityfor
quick repairs.

Special Features
•Memory Retention. During apoweroutage,
criticaloperating information inthe control's
memory isstored inaspecialelectronicdevice
called aNOVARAM.Thisinformation includesthe
timeofday,waterusage amounts,all
programming data.When powerisrestored,the
information isreturned tothe microprocessorand
operation resumesasifan outage never
occurred.The timeofdaywill be latebythe
lengthofthe poweroutage.Becausemostpower
outagesareless than one minuteinduration,it
maybe monthsoryearsbeforethe timedisplay
requiresresetting.Ifan outage ofone ormore
hoursoccurs,the timeofdayshouldbe resetbut
no otherreprogramming isnecessary.
•Design Reliability. Solid-stateelectronicsassure
manyyearsoftrouble-free performance.The
metering systemhasonlyone moving part; a
rotating turbine that measureswaterusage.
•Time and CapacityDisplay. During normal
conditioning operation,the correcttimeofday
and capacitycan be accessed on the display. The
capacityvalue isthe numberofcubicmetresof
waterthatthe unitcan condition beforeanother
regeneration isneeded.
•Flow indicator. The displaycan access the
actualflowratethrough the system.
•Throughputand CapacitySetting. Oncethe
capacitysetting isentered,the information cannot
be lostdue toapoweroutage,soreprogramming
isnot necessary.
•GuestCycle. Anextraregeneration can be
achieved atanytimebypressing the REGEN
button on the frontpanel.It takesafewminutes
forthe regeneration tostart. The unitcompletes
the regeneration inabouttwohours.Thisfeature
isbeneficialwhen you expecttousemorethan
the normalamountofwater;forexample,guest
visitsoran extraheavylaundry day.The manual
can be setforimmediateregeneration ofdelayed
regeneration at 2am.

How YourConditionerWorks
Ingeneral,yourwaterconditionerworksinthe follow-
ing manner.Hardwaterflowsintothe conditionerand
through the resinbed wherecalciumand magnesium

passed through the conditioner,the resincannot
removeanymoreminerals.Thisresinstateiscalled
exhaustion and indicatesthatthe resinneedstobe
regenerated.The regeneration process restoresthe
conditioner'sabilitytosoften water.The control
monitorsthe amountofwaterthatflowsthrough the
conditionerand automaticallycalculateswhen to
