3-POSITION SWITCH
IBL HG20-82
2
The switch (2) has three positions. To put into operation, press the
switch to position ‘1’, ‘2’. To switch OFF, press the switch to the
stop at position ‘0’.
For setting the air flow and temperature, the switch can be set to
two blower steps. Suitable air flow and temperature combinations
can be selected according to the applications.
Position 1 (low temperature and air flow) is suitable for bending
plastic and heating shrinking plastic. Position 2 (high temperature
and air flow) is suitable for stripping paint and defrosting pipes.
NOTE: The ideal temperature should first be determined by
performing a test. You should start with a low temperature setting.
The working temperature can vary depending on the properties of the
work. The distance between the nozzle and work is dependent on the
material to be processed.
NOTE: When the heater is overloaded, the unit switches it OFF
automatically, however, the blower continues to run. When the unit has
cooled to operating temperature, the heater switches ON again.

11
The Heat Gun has many applications such as paint stripping, heat
shrinking tubing, bending plastic pipes, drying materials, welding
plastics, breaking down glues and adhesives and defrosting pipes
and so on. (Detailed list is mentioned in the ‘intended use’section, any
application other than these are not recommended)
The operation is quite simple, you ON the device and select a
suitable position for the suitable temperature and air flow.
According to the applications, the provided four nozzles (Hook,
Deflector, Glass protection and Concentrator) can be used.
(Detailed explanation for each nozzle is given in the ‘product overview’)
For removing paint, turn ON the tool and hold the nozzle about
25mm (2.5 cm) from the surface to be stripped. Give the unit
about 15-20 seconds running time to reach its full heat potential.
The paint being heated will usually begin to blister when it
reaches the proper temperature for stripping. When it reaches
this point begin scraping with smooth, even strokes. Move the
unit slightly ahead of the scraper to assure that the paint being
stripped is softened. Best results will be achieved if the gun is
moved slowly, constantly, side to side to evenly distribute heat.
GENERAL OPERATION
WARNING! Refer page no.6 for specific instructions before operation.
Heat guns should be held at an angle of approximately 45º from the
work and never keep in one place for more than a few seconds.

12
This heat gun is designed to remove both oil based and latex
based paints. It will not remove stains or primer coats that have
impregnated the wood grain. Scrape (scratch) paint as soon as it
softens, it will soon cool and harden again. Clean the edge of
your scraper often to retain a clean, sharp edge.
For removing paint from window frames, always use the glass
protection nozzle. Ensure you have the nozzle facing the correct
way to deflect the heat away from the glass before you switch on.
Rotate the gun or nozzle 90º as you move to horizontal or vertical
bead. Paint can be removed from profile surfaces by using a
shave hook and/or a soft wire brush. Do not concentrate the tools
heat on a window pane or other glass surface as excessive heat
may crack the glass.
For bending plastic tube, choose the Hook nozzle and fit over
heat outlet. Turn the gun upside down and secure on a work-
bench with the nozzle pointing upwards. Heat the tube evenly by
moving from side to side and bend to required shape.
For shrink seating electrical cables, choose the Hook nozzle and
fit over heat outlet. Select a heat-shrinkable sleeve with a
diameter matching that of the work, evenly heat the sleeve.
Be constantly aware that this tool can ignite flammable
materials and soften or melt others.
Before and after each use, check the product and accessories (such
as application tools) for wear and damage.
While cleaning, use only mild soap and damp cloth to clean the
tool. Never let any liquid get inside the tool; never immerse any
part of the tool into a liquid.
Never clean nozzle or air holes in the gun with sharp metal
objects. Do not use solvents or lubricants containing silicone.
