KEYPAD
• POWER, ON or OFF
Push and hold [PWR] for 4 seconds
• SET SQUELCH
Push [SQL], then rotate the big dial on top
• WEATHER (WX-ALERT), ON or OFF
Push O, then push [SQL]

GENERAL
If the button marking on the keypad is in black, push to
activate. For secondary functions, first push O and then the
desired green-marked button.
VOR NAVIGATION (for A24 only)
When entering the NAV band, 108.000–117.975 MHz, the
A24 automatically selects the DVOR mode
• FLYING TO A VOR STATION
Select a VOR station on your aeronautical chart and use the
keypad or rotate the big dial to set the frequency of the station
Push O, then push [TO] or [FROM] depending if you are flying
to or from a station
– The [ ]flag indicators will appear on screen
• TO SELECT CDI MODE
Push O, then push [CDI]
– Set the desired course to the VOR station by rotating the
big dial or using the keypad
– The number of degrees “TO” or “FROM” a beacon is
displayed at the bottom of the screen
– “
4” and “3” are course deviation arrows that appear at the
bottom of the display
– Each arrow indicates a two-degree course deviation
– “OF˙” appears on the screen when the desired VOR signal
cannot be received
• TO CORRECT YOUR COURSE
“4” and “3” indicate your aircraft is off course to the right
or left, respectively
Correct your course until “4” and “3” disappear
• EXIT CDI MODE
Push O, then push [DVOR]
FREQUENCIES/CHANNELS NOTES
EMERGENCY
Push and hold the red button until [121.5] appears on
the screen to select the emergency frequency;
“121.5” MHz will appear on the screen.

Select the desired channel and push O, then [MW]
– Rotate the big dial or use the keypad to choose a bank
Push [ENT] to save and end

Push [MR] and rotate the big dial on top to page through
memory channels
TAG (SELECT SCAN) CHANNELS
TAG channels is Icom’s way of selecting and deselecting
channels to be scanned.
• TO TAG A CHANNEL
Push [MR] to select the memory mode
Push O, then push [TAG] to turn TAG channel ON or OFF
– A TAG symbol will appear when TAG is ON
– The TAG function is only available during scan operation
• HOW TO DELETE CHANNELS IN MEMORY
Push [MR] to select memory mode
Select the desired channel to delete
Push O, then push and hold [DEL]
– The screen will read: “- - - -”
Push ufor most recent frequency used
Push tfor frequency used longest ago (up to 10)
PROGRAM FREQUENCY INTO MEMORY
• SELECT THE DESIRED FREQUENCY
Push [CLR], then select the desired frequency by using the
keypad or by rotating the big dial on top
Push O, then push [MW]
– A memory bank will blink on screen
– Use the keypad or rotate the big dial to select the
desired place in the memory bank to store frequency
Push [ENT] to save and end
• ENTER BANK SELECTION MODE & SELECT A BANK
Push O, then push [MW]
Push O, then push [BANK]
– Rotate the big dial or use the keypad to select the desired bank
Push [ENT] to end
Push [CLR] to exit the bank selection mode
• PROGRAM WEATHER INTO MEMORY* (*USA VERSION ONLY)
Push O, then [WX] to select the weather channel
– The screen will read: “WX--01” (10 channels available)
• LOCK, ON or OFF
Push O, then push [ ]
• SCAN, ON or OFF
Push O, then push [SCAN]
– Rotate the big dial on top to change scan direction
– To stop scan, push [CLR]
• SCAN WITHIN MEMORY
Push [MR] to enter memory mode
Push O, then push [SCAN]
– To stop scanning, push [CLR]
• SCAN WX CHANNELS* (*USA VERSION ONLY)
Push O, then push [WX]
Push O, and then [SCAN]
• CLEAR ALL
Push [CLR] twice
• FUNCTION CLEAR ALL
Push O, then push [DEL]
