INSTRUCTIONS

2
Thank you for choosing Impact.
The Impact VPD-DSMC2 Varidrive Set with Metal Chain
makes it easy to raise and lower your background paper
roll. The expandable cores fit into both sides of your paper
roll and mount onto your background hooks so you can
easily raise and lower your backgrounds. The metal chain
makes this set ideal for heavy rolls, and the dual expandable
cores accommodate a variety of core and roll sizes.

so it will fit.
Insert the other expandable core into your
paper roll and tighten its fit by rotating the
control knob clockwise.
Rotate the control knob clockwise to
expand the core until it tightens inside the
paper roll.
Mount the chain-drive side of the paper
roll assembly onto the corresponding

When mounting your background support hooks on a wall, make sure the wall can support the
installation. When mounting your background support hooks on Impact Varipoles, make sure to
properly secure the Varipoles floor-to-ceiling.
The Varidrive is designed only for paper rolls with cores. For uncored paper and fabric
backgrounds, use the Impact VPC5 Cross Pole.
Specifications:
• Chain length: 13´ (4 m)
• Maximum load capacity: 42 lb. (19 kg)
Pull the chain vertically to raise or lower
the background. Do not twist the chain or

Impact Triple Hooks
The Impact Triple Hooks allow you to wall
mount three Varidrives, making it easy to
switch between three different background
rolls. Just roll one background up and roll
the other down with a pull of the Varidrive’s
chains. Impact Triple Hooks can also be
mounted on Impact Varipoles with the use of
Super Clamps.
Impact Super Clamp
The Impact Super Clamp is a versatile clamp
that holds just about anything: cameras,
lights, flash units, umbrellas, hooks, cross
bars, even other Super Clamps. It clamps
on flat surfaces or tubes 1/2˝ to 2-1/8˝ in
diameter, and comes with a standard 1/4˝ 20
threaded stud. It’s a must-have in any studio.
Impact Varipole
The adjustable Impact Varipole quickly and
easily mounts between solid floors and
ceilings, giving you a sturdy support system
for backgrounds, reflectors, lights, or grip
accessories. It’s perfect for situations where
tripod legs would get in the way.
