Gigabit Ethernet Desktop Switch, Model 523523 (24-port) or 523530
(16-port).
This device’s Gigabit Ethernet ports provide the high performance your
network needs for handling the quick transfer speeds that support
bandwidth-intensive applications. Auto features make it easy to use,
too, with no conguration is required. Auto-MDI/MDI-X eliminates the
need for crossover cables, and each port senses the link speed of any
connected network device automatically, adjusting to 10, 100 or 1000
Mbps for compatibility and maximum performance.
Simple setup means you’ll also soon be enjoying the benets of these

LEDs
Ports
All ports on the switch support Auto-MDI/MDI-X functionality.
• Crossover or straight-through cables can be used to connect to PCs,
routers and other devices, with Cat5/5e UTP/STP cables providing
optimal performance.
• Auto-negotiation allows
each port to operate in
both half and full duplex
mode at 10 Mbps and
100 Mbps; and at full
duplex mode at
1000 Mbps.

LED Status Operation
Power On Unit is receiving power.
Off Unit is not receiving power.
LINK/ACT On Corresponding port is connected.
Off Corresponding port is not connected.
Flashing Corresponding port is transmitting/receiving data.
100/1000 On Port is transmitting/receiving data at either 100 Mbps
(green) or 1000 Mbps (orange).
Off Port is transmitting/receiving data at 10 Mbps.

Power
Plug the female end of the power
cord rmly into the receptacle on
the rear panel and the other end
into an electrical outlet. Conrm
that the power LED on the front
panel is lit.
INSTALLATION
Prior to use, it is recommended that the device be placed/positioned:
• with a minimum of 25 mm of clearance on the top and sides for
adequate ventilation;
• away from sources of electrical noise, such as radios, transmitters and
broadband ampliers; and
• where it cannot be affected by excessive moisture.
Desktop:
• Place the device on a level surface that can support the weight of the
switch (and any other items that need to be considered).
Rackmount:
1. Disconnect any cables from the switch before proceeding.
2. Place the switch on a hard, at surface with the front facing you.
3. Position one of the two included mounting brackets over the mounting
holes on one side of the unit.
4. Insert the screws and fully tighten them with a suitable screwdriver.
5. Repeat the two previous steps for the other side of the device.
6. Insert the switch into the rack (secure with suitable screws, if desired);
reconnect cables as needed.
