DESCRIPTION
1 DESCRIPTION
1.1 Overview
The ZR10-D controller is an electronic operating unit for controlling up to
• 4 iV14 ventilation systems or
• 2 iV25 ventilation systems or
• 2 iV-Twin ventilation systems
It features easy installation and straightforward operation. The ZR10-D controller allows the control of the iV14
ventilation system in two modes:
• Heat recovery (HR)
• Ventilation (V)

DESCRIPTION
Variants
The ZR10-D controller is available as two variants:
• ZR10-D-Standard
• ZR10-D-Flat
The ZR10-D-Standard and ZR10-D-Flat differ in the airflows in power stage 0. Use of the ZR10-D-Flat is rec-
ommended in rooms having the requirement that the ventilation system must remain ON to maintain ventilation
for moisture protection.

1.2 Modes
Heat recovery (HR)
The fan operates in line with the principle of regenerative heat exchange, and switches between Supply and
Extract mode at intervals of 70 seconds. When air is flowing out, the thermal accumulator charges itself from
the thermal energy of the ambient air. When the fan switches direction, it releases the thermal energy stored to
the fresh air supplied.This mode is the standard application during the heating season. It is also recommended
in the summer because the heat supply is reduced significantly when venting.
Ventilation (V)
The fan operates with no change of direction. The ventilation system must be set to Supply mode.
This mode is recommended for cooling rooms during summer nights.
1.3 Synchronization of multiple controllers
The ZR10-D controller allows multiple controllers to be synchronized to each other. It automatically rates the
line frequency via the upstream transformer and generates from it the interval switching of the fans.The follow-
ing requirements must be met for this:
• Each controller is connected to the power supply via its own transformer
• The transformers of all controllers to work synchronously are connected to the same power phase
(all to P1, P2 or P3) or all controller power supply lines are routed to a
common automatic circuit breaker in the meter cabinet
• An interference-free power signal must be available

4. INSTALLATION
Danger - Before starting any work on electrical systems, disconnect all relevant equipment
from the power supply. When wiring the power supply, observe the requirements of Safety
Class II.
4.1 Junction box
Wall opening / wiring
1. Make a hole for the junction box in a vertical wall in the drywall or masonry of the interior area with these
dimensions:
• Depth: 76mm
• Height: 139mm
• Diameter: 68mm
2. Lay the round or ribbon cable in the wiring duct for the wall mounting box so that the ends protrude ap-
prox. 150 mm from the hole. This ensures that the controller can be connected.

1. Make two holes on the junction box - these must be in different cavities (top and bottom).
2. Guide the power and fan cables separately through one hole each.
3. Insert the junction box into the wall.
4. Use the 4 fixing screws (1) to secure the junction box to the wall.
5. Attach the 3-wire round cable or 6-wire ribbon cable to the connector (6).
6. Note the color sequence (Section Electrical connection > Connection example).
7. If ribbon cable is used, connect two leads in one conductor sleeve.
8. Connect the transformer connecting lead (5) to the terminal block (4)

4.2 Surface mount and control cabinet
The ZR10-D controller is intended for installation into a surface mount junction box and for installation in a
control cabinet.

SURFACE MOUNT
1. In the surface mount junction box, break
out the two pre-stamped holes for the cable
feedthrough (1).
2. Bring the two cables (fan connector (3) and
power (4)) through separate holes.
3. Use at least two fixing screws at the top and
bottom to secure the surface mount box to
the mounting wall.
4. Attach the connector to the 3-wire round or 6-wire ribbon cable. If ribbon cable is used, connect two
leads in one conductor sleeve.
Note the color sequence (Section: Electrical connection > Connection example).
*) Pre-stamped holes for the cable feedthroughs are on the base plate and
also on the sides of the control cabinet junction box. This makes it possible to
tailor the wiring to your own practical requirements.
CONTROL CABINET
1. Break out the two pre-stamped holes (left and
right) in the control cabinet junction box, for the
cable feedthrough (1). *)
2. Bring the two cables (fan connector (3) and
power (4)) through separate holes.
3. Use the two fixing screws (2) on the left and
right to attach the control cabinet box on the
top hat rail so that the cavity with the notch is
on the right-hand side. Ensure that the two at-
tachment clamps on the underside of the base
plate fit into place accurately on the top hat rail.

1. Use the terminal block (4) to connect the connecting lead (5) of the transformer to the power supply
(230V, 50 Hz).
2. Insert the transformer into the junction box.
3. Insert the dividing plate such that the connecting lead to the controller (2) leads upwards through the
hole (3).

1. Use the two fixing screws (6) to attach the support ring (4) to the junction box. Ensure that the two de-
tents (5) are at the top and bottom and face out of the junction box. The detents are used for accurate
attachment of the blanking cover.
2. Connect the fan connecting lead plug (1) to the 3-pin interface of the controller board (3) and the con-
troller connecting lead plug (2) to the 2-pin interface.

6.1 Junction box
Caution
- Make sure that all renovation work inside the building has been completed. This
ensures that the ZR10-D controller does not come into contact with wall paint, wallpaper glue
and plaster, so that its functionality is maintained.

Turn the controller board such that all cables are pointing backwards and the "CE" mark in the top left
is visible.
2.
Use two fixing screws (1) on the left and right to mount the board on the junction box.
3.
Check that the control knob slot (2) is aligned horizontally. Correct the position using a screwdriver if
required. Horizontal alignment is necessary for accurate fitting of the control knob (Section Fitting the
control knob and blanking cover (Figure 17) and Section Fitting the control knob (Figure 21)).

1. Fit the control knob. Ensure that the marker (2) is in the power stage 0 (1) position using the finger guide (3).
Only in this position does the control knob lock into place correctly in the controller board.The prerequisite
is horizontal seating of the control knob slot on the board (see also Figure 15: Fitting the board).
2. Put the blanking cover (4) on and allow the snap-fits (5) to lock into place. Ensure that the ventilation slots
face upwards and downwards.

1. Put on the control knob. Ensure that the marker (2) is in the power stage 0 (3) position using the finger
guide (1). Only in this position does the control knob lock into place correctly in the controller board.The
prerequisite is horizontal seating of the control knob slot on the board
(see also Figure 15: Fitting the board).
7 OPERATION
The position of the knob enables you to control:
• Switching between modes
• The intensity of the airflow (power stages)
