What is ozone?
• In nature, ozone (also known as activated oxygen or O3,) is created by a chemical reaction
between normal oxygen (O2) and solar ultraviolet (UV) radiation (sunlight). It is often present during
thunderstorms and where electrical arcing occurs and is used in indoor environments to neutralize
odors.
• Ozone itself has a distinctive smell that most people find pleasant or “clean-smelling,” similar to the
way air smells after a rain storm.
• The Ivation ozone generator utilizes electrical current to convert oxygen (O2) to ozone (O3). Ozone
molecules bind to airborne particulates, causing them to descend. Typically, unused ozone reverts back
to normal oxygen in about an hour.
What are negative ions?
• Negative ions are oxygen atoms charged with an extra electron. They are generated by waterfalls,
lightning, ocean waves, the earth’s inherent radiation, and other natural phenomena.
• Negative ions clear the air of dust, mold spores, pollen, odors, and other pollutants by attaching to
these positively charged particles in large numbers, causing them to become too heavy to stay airborne.
The presence of negative ions also lifts your mood.

WARNING
• When inhaled, ozone can damage the lungs. Relatively low amounts can cause chest pain, coughing,
shortness of breath and throat irritation.
• Ozone may also worsen chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma and compromise the ability of the
body to fight respiratory infections.
• Operate this unit in unoccupied spaces only. Do not leave pets in the vicinity.
• Do not return to the space immediately after treating the air. The ozone will normally dissipate in less
than an hour after the unit is turned off.
Safety Precautions
• This product is not a medical device. Do not alter any medical therapy programs or medication
procedures without the advice of your physician.
• Excessive ozone concentration may cause respiratory or mucus membrane irritation.
• Do not remove the unit’s back cover, as it may put you at risk to receive an electric shock.
• For safety, follow the instructions in this guide regarding O3 (ozone) generation.
• The ionizer will create a slight charge. If you stand near the unit and then touch a metal object, a static
electric discharge may occur.
• To avoid electric shock, plug the unit into a grounded electrical outlet.
• Make sure the unit is placed on a flat, even surface in a well-ventilated area. Do not block the fan vent
or back of the unit.
• Do not expose the unit to direct sunlight, high humidity, or temperature extremes.
• Do not place the unit close to heat sources or open flames.
• Do not use the unit outdoors.
• Unplug the unit before cleaning.
• Do not clean the unit with solvents, boiling water, or cleaning agents.
• Do not place items on top of the unit.
• Do not attempt to repair or disassemble the unit.
• Use this appliance only for its intended purpose.
• Do not let children operate the appliance unless supervised.
• Contact a qualified professional for any servicing needs.

About this Product
• Ivation® HEPA Air Purifier & Ozone Generator produces both O3 (ozone) and negative ions to bind to
particulates and freshen the air.
• The unit includes several replaceable filter components: a HEPA filter, an activated carbon filter and a
photocatalytic filter.
• The generation of negative ions and O3 is separately controlled, allowing the unit to be used as either an
air purifier/ozone generator or as a standard air purifier with no ozone being generated.
• Negative ions can be created around the clock to keep down dust and particulates.
About the 3-in-1 Filter
The Ivation® HEPA Air Purifier & Ozone Generator includes a 3-in-1 filter designed to achieve maximum
air purification in your area of choice. This includes:
• 1 HEPA filter – commonly found in hospitals and high-tech manufacturing plants, HEPA filters
can capture radioactive dust and other harmful particles.
• 1 activated carbon filter – removes contaminants and impurities from the air via a process
known as adsorption.
• 1 photocatalytic filter – works in conjunction with the unit’s UV light to destroy undesirable
microorganisms and eliminate unpleasant odors.
Assembly
• With the rear of the unit open and facing you, slide the
ozone plates into the vertical plate receiver slots on the left
and right of the UV light.
• Arrange the filter components against one another
in the order as illustrated.
• Place the complete filter in the unit and use the included
screws to affix the HEPA filter to the rear of the unit.

Setup
• For optimal effectiveness, place the unit in a central location, ideally on a piece of furniture or other
surface 4 feet or more above the floor. The reason for elevated placement enables better circulation
because O3 is heavier than air.
• This device works best if it is placed within 10 feet of a cold air return.
• Allow three inches between the back of your unit and the wall to allow proper airflow.
Operation
• Plug in the unit.
• The ionizer control knob (right knob) controls the ionization, UV light and fan, and also turns the unit on
and off. Use this knob to activate the needle-point ionizer and set the fan speed. The unit will not
function unless the ionizer control is on.
• The ozonator control knob (left knob) controls ozone generation. Set this knob to its lowest setting and
increase by 1 increment every 2 hours until the smell of O3 is evident, and then turn it back one
increment. Ozone production can be turned on and off as desired.
• To treat the entire home, set the fan switch on your central air conditioning system to the “ON” position
instead of “AUTO”. Open all interior doors and position the unit so that the air from the purifier flows
directly into an air return vent.
• To thoroughly purge a space of odors, set the O3 setting to its highest level and vacate the space. Do not
leave pets in the vicinity. Run the device for about 2 hours and then shut it off. You may use a plug-in
timer if desired. Do not return to the space immediately after treating the air. The ozone will normally
dissipate in less than an hour after the purifier is turned off.
Care and Maintenance
Cleaning the ozone plates
• Turn off the unit and make sure that it is unplugged from any electrical outlets.
• Pull plate firmly in the center to remove it from the back of the unit
• Apply a 50/50 solution of warm water and ammonia or a strong grease-cutting detergent to the plate.
Scrub with a stiff brush if necessary, being careful not to drop the plate or scrub off the silicon.
• Clean both the metal screen and the ceramic tile.
• Rinse plate in hot water and dry completely before installing. If available, you may use a hair dryer to
dry the plate.
• Reinstall plate, making sure it is secured and flush with the back of the unit. Plug unit into a grounded
electrical outlet, turn unit on and start enjoying clean fresh air.
Cleaning the needlepoint ionizer
• Turn off the unit and make sure that it is unplugged from any electrical outlets.
• Remove the fan grill cover. The needle point ionizer is in front of the fan.
• Take a cotton swab dipped in alcohol and clean any dust that may have accumulated on
the needlepoints.
Cleaning the fan and grill
• To clean the fan, simply wipe the blades with a damp cloth or vacuum.
• The grill cover may be cleaned with warm soapy water. Be careful that the fan grill cover is completely
dry before installing.

Replacing the HEPA filter
• The HEPA filter should be replaced annually. To replace, unscrew the existing filter and use the screws
to attach a new one (sold separately).
Troubleshooting
If the fan is not operating or no buzzing sound is detected on the unit’s highest settings after cleaning,
please contact a qualified professional to address the issue.
