Read before operating your range
All appliances- regardless of themanufacturer - havethepotential
through improperor carelessuse to create safetyproblems. Therefore
the following safety precautions should beobserved:
1. Be sure your appliance is properly installed and grounded by a
qualified technician.
2. Never use your applianceforwarmingor heatingtheroom.
3. Children should not be left alone or unattended in areawhere
applianceis in use. They shouldnever beallowedto sitorstandon
any part of the appliance.
4. Wear proper apparel. Loose-fitting or hanging garmentsshould
never be worn whileusing the appliance,
5. Donot repairorreplaceanypartofthe appliance unlessspecifically
recommendedinthis manual.All otherservicingshouldbereferred
to an authorized Jenn-Air Service Contractor.
6. Flammablematerials should not be stored in an oven or near
surface units,
7. Donot usewater on greasefires. Smother fireor flameor usedry
chemical or foam-typeextinguisher.
8. Use onlydry potholders. Moistor damp pothelderson hotsurfaces
may result in bumsfrom steam. Do not letpotholder touch hot
heating elements.Do not use a towel or other bulky cloth.
9. Use proper pan size. Many appliances are equipped with one or
more surfaceunits of different size.Select cookware having flat
bottoms largeenough to cover the surface unit heating element.
Theuseofundersizedcookwarewillexposeaportionoftheheating
element to direct contact and may result in ignition of clothing.
Properrelationshipofcookwareto heatingelementwillalsoimprove
efficiency and performance.
10. Never leave surface units unattended at high heat settJngs.BoJl
over may cause smoking and greasy spillovers that may ignite.
11. On conventional element ranges makesure that drip pans are in
place. Absenceofthese pansduringcooking may subjectwiring or
components underneath to damage.

12. Do not use aluminum foil to line surface unit drip pans or oven
bottom. Installation of these liners may result inan electric shock
or fire hazard.
13. Glazedcookware- only certain types of glass, glass-ceramic,
ceramic,earthenware,or other glazedcookware are suitable for
cooktop surfacewithout breaking due to the sudden change in
temperature. Use only such cookware as you knowhasbeen
approved for this purpose.
14. Cookware handlesshould beturned inward and not extend over
adjacent surfaceheating elementsto avoid burns, ignition of
flammablematerials and spillage due to unintentional contact with
the cookware.
15. Do not soak or immerse removableheating elements in water.
16.CAUTION - Do not storeitems of interest tochildren in cabinets
above range - children climbing on the rangeto reach itemscould
be seriously injured.
17.Donot touchsurface unitsorareas near units,heatingelements or
interiorsurfacesofoven. Surfaceunitsor heatingelements maybe
hoteven though theyaredark incoler.Areasnearsurface unitsand
interior surfacesof an oven may become hot enough to cause
bums.During and after use, do not touch or let clothing or other
flammablematerialscontact theseareas untiltheyhavehad
sufficienttime to cool. Other surfaces may becomehot enough to
causebums - amongthese surfacesarethe cooktop, upper door
frameand glass,ovenventopeningandsurfacesnearthe opening,
oven door, and oven window.
18. Do not cook on glass-ceramic cooking surface if thecooktop is
broken. Cleaning solutions and spillovers may penetrate the
broken cooktop and create a shockhazard. Contact anauthorized
Jenn-AirServiceContractor.
19. Cleanglass-ceramic cooktops withcaution. Ifwetspongeor cloth
is used to wipe spills on a hotcookingarea, be carefulto avoid
steam bums. Some cleanserscan produce noxious fumesif
applied to a hot surface.
20.Do notoperatewith damagedcooking element after any product
malfunctionuntilproperrepairhas been made.
21. Keepall switches"OFF"when unitisnot in use.
22. Use carewhen openingovendoor. Let hot air or steam escape
beforeremovingorreplacingfood.

23.Donot heat unopenedfood containers. Build-upof pressure may
cause container to burst and result in injury.
24. Keepoven vent ducts unobstructed.
25. Always place oven racks in desired location while oven is cool.If
rack must be movedwhile oven is hot, do not let potholder contact
hot heating element in oven,
26. Donot clean door gasket. The door gasket isessential for a good
seal. Careshouldbetaken notto rub,damage,or movethe gasket.
27. Do not use oven cleaners. No commercialoven cleaner or oven
linerprotective coating ofany kindshould be usedinor around any
part of the oven,
28. Clean only parts listed in this manual.
29. ¢ALrrlON:BEFORE SELF-CLEANING THE OVEN, REMOVE
FOOD, BROILER PAN AND OTHER UTENSILS.
30.Do not allow aluminum foil to contact heating elements.
31. PREPARED FOOD WARNING: Follow food manufacturer's
instructions. If a plastic frozen food container and/or itsfilm cover
distorts,warpsor isotherwisedamagedduringcooking,immediately
discardthefood and itscontainer. Thefood could becontaminated.
32.This appliance has been tested for safe performance using
conventionalcookware.Donotuse anydevices oraccessoriesthat
arenot specificallyrecommended inthis manual. Donot useeyelid
covers for the surface units, stovetop grills, or add-on convection
systems. Theuseof devices or accessories that are not expressly
recommended in this manual can create serious safety hazards,
result in performance problems, and reduce the life of the
components of the appliance.
33.WARNING: To reduce the risk of tipping of the appliance, the
appliance must be secured by a properly installed anti-tip device.
To check if device is installed properly: Use a flashlight and look
underneath the range to see that one of the rear leveling legs is
engagedinthe bracketslot. When removingapplianceforcleaning,
besureanti-tip device isengagedwhen rangeisreplaced.Theanti-
tip device secures the rear leveling leg to the floor, when properly
engaged.

7-10 (MedlumHigh)Forfastfryingorbrewoingfoods;tomaintainrapidboiloflargeameunts
offood,to maintain oil temperature fordeepfat frying.
5-6 (Medium) Fortoodscooked ina deubleboiler, sauteing, slowboll oflargeamountsof
food and mostfrying.
3-4(MediumLow) To continue cooking foodsstarted onhigher settings.

The heating controlsoffer flexibilityin heatseffing selection. On settingsother thanHigh,you
may adjust the controls above or below thenumberedsetting for best results.Suggested
settingsare provided as generalguidelines.
Toremoveknobs,turntoOFF posiaon.Pulleachknobstraightfromtheshaft.Washknobsinwarm
soapywaterordishwasher',donotuseabrasivecleanersormaterials. To replaceknobs,match
the"D"shapedholeintheknobtothe"D" shaft,returninginOFF position.Important: Never use
ametalbladetopryknoboff. Ifknobcannotbeeasily removed,tuckthefoldsofaclothdishtowel
undertheknob skirtandpullthe towelupwardwithsteady,even pressure.

To achieveoptimumcookingperformance,use heavy gauge, flat, smooth bottom
cookpotsthatconformtothediameterofthecoilor radiant element(no morethanone
inchoverhang).Propercookpetswillminimizecookingtimes,uselesselectricity,cook
foodmoreevenlyand requirelesswateror oil.
Cookpetswiththin,unevenbottomsdonotadequatelyconductheatfromthe element
tothefoodinthecookpetswhichresultsinhotspots,burnedor underdonefood. Using
badcookpetsalsorequiresmorewater,time, and energyto cookfood.
•Select heavy gaugeeookpots. Usually heavygauge cookpots will notchange
shapewhen heated.
• Use cookpots withflat, smoothbottoms, Thetwowaystodetermineif cookpots
havea flat, smoothbottomare the rulertest and the cookingtest.
Ruler Test
1.Place the edge of ruler across the bottomofthe pot.
2.Hold uptothe light.
3.No lightshouldbevisibleunderthe ruler.
Cooking Test
1.Put 1 inch of water into the cookpet.
2.Placecookpotontheelement.Turncontrol
tothe High setting.
3,Observethebubbleformationto determine
theheatdistribution,if thebubblesare uniformacrossthecookpot,thecookpot
willperformsatisfactorily.Ifthebubblesarenotuniform,thebubbleswiltindicate
the hotspots,
• Matchthe size of thecook,pot to the sizeofthe element. Ideally,thecookpot
willbethe samesizeorslightly larger.
•Do not usecookwarethat extends more than 1inchbeyond the edge of the
element.
•Donotuseasmall cookpotonalargeelement.Notonlycan thiscausetheelement
to requiremoreenergyandtime,but itcanalsoresultinspilloversburningontothe
elementwhich causeextra effortincleaning.
•Do not usenenflatspecialty itemsthat are oversized,uneven ordo not meet
propercookwarespecificationssuch asroundbottom wokswith rings,griddles,
rippledbottomcanners,lobsterpots,largepressurecanners,etc.UsetheJenn-
