POWER SOURCE
This uni is designed o opera e on AC 120V~ 60Hz. Opera ing his uni on any o her
power source may cause damage o he uni , and such damage is no covered by
your warran y.
I is also equipped wi h a ba ery back-up sys em for he clock ha is powered by 2 X
AA (UM-3) ba eries (no included).
BATTERY BACK-UP SYSTEM
The Ba ery Back-up Sys em ensures he clock and alarm se ings will be re ained
during a power in errup ion or power ou age (in order o preserve he ba ery life he
Display will no ligh ). All clock se ings will be kep in memory, however, he clock
ime may require adjus men for exac accuracy once he power re urns. If he
ba eries are no ins alled, he Display will blink”12:00” when he power is res ored.
This will indica e ha you have o rese he ime and alarm se ings.
BATTERY INSTALLATION
1. Open he ba ery compar men door on he bo om of he cabine .
2. Follow he polari y diagram shown inside he compar men and Ins all 2 X “AA”
size ba eries (no included).
3. Replace he Ba ery Compar men Door.
IMPORTANT: Be sure ha he ba eries are ins alled correc ly. Wrong polari y may
damage he uni .
NOTE: Only use a well-known brand of ba ery o ensure longes life and he bes
performance.
CAUTIONS:
1. Do no mix old and new ba eries.
2. Do no mix alkaline, s andard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium)
ba eries.
3. If he uni is no o be used for an ex ended period of ime, remove he ba eries.
Old or leaking ba eries can cause damage o he uni and may void he
warran y.
4. Do no dispose of ba eries in fire, ba eries may explode or leak.
5. Ba eries shall no be exposed o excessive hea such as sunshine, fire or he
like.
6. Replace all he ba eries a he same ime, no ma er exhaus ed or no , every 2
years a he same ime o avoid possible ba ery leakage.
7. Do no ry o recharge ba eries no in ended o be recharged; hey can overhea ,

POWER FAILURE INDICATOR
If here are no ba eries ins alled in he uni or he ba eries ins alled are weak or
dead, he ime and alarm se ings will be los if he power is in errup ed. When he
AC power is res ored he display will flash “12:00”. This indica es ha he ime
displayed is incorrec and needs o be rese .

SETTING THE CLOCK TIME
In order for he clock o func ion properly, he clock has o be se before you use i for
he firs ime. Af er powering up he uni or press and hold PRESET/TIME Bu on (#7)
a s andby mode, he clock display will flash. To se he ime, follow he s eps below:
1. Tap he TUN-/HR/ / TUN+/MIN/ Bu ons (#3/#4) un il he correc ime is
displayed..
2. Press he PRESET/TIME Bu on (#7) o confirm he ime.
Note:
Make sure he hour is se so ha AM or PM is correc ly displayed. There is a PM
INDICATOR (#14) loca ed in he upper lef corner of he LED display. If he PM
INDICATOR (#14) is showing on he display, he displayed ime is “PM”. If he PM
INDICATOR (#14) is no showing on he display, he ime displayed is “AM”.
RADIO OPERATION
Press he MODE / Bu on (#6) repea edly o Turn On he uni and selec AM/FM
Mode, frequency will show on he LED display.
Press and hold he TUN-/HR/ Bu on (#3) OR TUN+/MIN/ Bu on (#4) o search
for he nex / previous available s a ion. If he recep ion is poor, ry Manual Tuning o
fine- une he s a ion. Tap he TUN-/HR/ Bu on (#3) OR TUN+/MIN/ Bu on (#4)
briefly o manually une hrough he frequency band.
Adjus he VOLUME +/- Con rol (#9/10) o ob ain he desired sound level.
The LED display will change o show he clock ime af er a few seconds. Press he
TUN-/HR/
OR TUN+/MIN/
Bu ons (#3/4) o check he uned frequency.
Setting the Radio Station Pre et
The uni allows you o s ore up o 30 FM s a ions and 30 AM s a ions for easy recall
a any ime.
1. Press he POWER / Bu on (#6) repea edly o Turn On he uni and selec
AM/FM Mode.
2. Tune o he radio s a ion you wan o s ore in memory.
3. Press and hold he PRESET/TIME Bu on (#7). The prese channel number “P01”
will be flashing on display.
4. To change he prese channel number loca ion, press he TUN-/HR/
OR
TUN+/MIN/
Bu ons (#3/4) o s ep hrough he prese loca ions ( P01 – P30 ).
5. To confirm he prese loca ion, press PRESET/TIME Bu on (#7).
6. To s ore up o 30 s a ion prese s, repea s eps 2-5 above.
RECALL PRESET STATION
In AM/FM mode, press PRESET/TIME Bu on (#7) repea edly o selec he prese
channel.
TIPS FOR BEST RADIO RECEPTION
AM - The AM an enna is buil inside he radio. If AM recep ion is weak, change he
posi ion of he uni un il he in ernal an enna picks up he s ronges signal.
FM - If FM recep ion is weak, fully ex end he wire an enna and vary he posi ion and
loca ion of he an enna un il you find he s ronges signal.

BLUETOOTH OPERATION
Pairing a Blue oo h enabled device wi h he JCR-228.
1. Press he MODE / Bu on (#6) repea edly o urn on uni and selec Blue oo h
mode, “b ” will show on he LED Display. The BLUETOOTH INDICATOR (#17) will
flash.
2. Turn on he Blue oo h func ion for he device you wan o link o, and enable he
search or scan func ion o find he JCR-228.
3. Selec "JCR-228" from he device lis when i appears on your device screen. If
required, en er he pass code “0000” o pair (link) JCR-228 wi h your device.
4. If you are pairing (linking) your compu er o he speaker using Blue oo h, you may
need o se he JCR-228 as your compu er’s defaul sound device.
5. Af er successfully pairing he JCR-228 wi h your Blue oo h device, The
BLUETOOTH INDICATOR (#17)) will s op flashing and remain li .
6. If you wan o pair (link) he JCR-228 wi h ano her Blue oo h device, press and
hold PAIRING/ Bu on (#5) a few seconds. The BLUETOOTH INDICATOR (#17)
will flash. The JCR-228 will go in o Pairing/Discoverable mode. Repea s eps 2
& 3.
Now you can play music from your Blue oo h device wirelessly o he JCR-228.
1. Selec ing your favori e song, press he Play Bu on on your Blue oo h device or
he PAIRING/ Bu on (#5) on he JCR-228 o play or pause he song from your
Blue oo h device.
2. Press TUN-/HR/
OR TUN+/MIN/
Bu ons (#3/4) o selec he Nex or Previous
rack.
( The SEARCH func ion does no apply o Blue oo h opera ion )
3. Press VOLUME +/- bu ons (#9/10) of your JCR-228 and your Blue oo h device un il
you reach a comfor able lis ening level.

1. Refer o he manual of your cell phone, able PC, compu er or o her Blue oo h
enabled devices for Blue oo h opera ion since i may vary from model o model.
2. If your Blue oo h enabled device does no suppor A2DP profile, i will no play
he music hrough he speaker, even if paired (linked).
3. Remember o urn off he JCR-228 when you have finished lis ening, press and
hold MODE / Bu on (#6) a few seconds o urn off he uni .
4. Don' forge o swi ch off he power of your ex ernal audio device as well.
5. The music playback will au oma ically be paused when you have an incoming call.
When he call is ended he JCR-228 will s ar playing again.

ALARM OPERATION
SETTING THE ALARM TIME
You can se wo differen alarm imes and selec wake o RADIO / ALARM sound.
1. In s andby mode, press and hold he ALARM 1 Bu on (#2) un il he LED display
flash.
2. Tap he TUN-/HR/ OR TUN+/MIN/ Bu ons (#3/4) o selec wake o Radio
FM – Radio AM – BB (Alarm) – OFF.
(Wake o Radio FM or AM, he LED display will show he frequency. Tap he
PRESET/TIME bu on (#7) repea edly o selec he desired prese s a ion.)
3. Press ALARM 1 Bu on (#2) o confirm. The LED display will show he alarm ime.
4. Press TUN-/HR/ OR TUN+/MIN/ Bu ons (#3/4) o se he hour and minu e
of he alarm ime.
5. Press he ALARM 1 Bu on (#2) o confirm he alarm ime. The LED display will
show he volume level.
6. Press TUN-/HR/ OR TUN+/MIN/ Bu ons (#3/4) o se he volume level.
7. Press he ALARM 1 Bu on (#2) o confirm he volume level. The LED display
resume display he curren ime.
8. Alarm 2 se ing procedures are same as Alarm 1.

SETTING WAKE TO ALARM OR RADIO
1. In s andby mode, press he ALARM 1 Bu on (#2) repea edly o se alarm 1
a. Wake o Alarm, Alarm 1 INDICATOR (wake o alarm) (#15) will ligh up.
b. Wake o Radio, Alarm 1 INDICATOR (wake o radio) (#16) will ligh up.
c. Alarm 1 Off, bo h WAKE o ALARM & RADIO Indica ors ligh off
2. When alarm sounds, press any bu ons once o s op he alarm and i will repea
nex day same ime.
3. When alarm sounding af er one hour, he sound will au o off and repea nex day.
4. Alarm 2 wake o Alarm or radio se ing procedures is same as Alarm 1.
SNOOZE ALARM
Af er he radio or alarm sounds, you may press he SNOOZE/SLEEP bu on (#11)
for a few more minu es sleep. The alarm will s op for approxima ely 9 minu es and
hen urn on again.
CHECKING THE ALARM TIME
In s andby mode, ap he ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 Bu on (#2/1) repea edly o check
he Alarm Sound mode, Alarm Time, Volume Level.

AUX OPERATION
You can play o her music sources (iPod, MP3 or o her digi al audio players) hrough
he speakers of he JCR-228 by connec ing he AUX IN Jack (#12 ) o your ex ernal
player’s audio ou jack or headphone jack.
1. Plug one end of an audio cable (no included) in o he AUX IN Jack (#12) and he
o her end of he cable o he headphone jack of your digi al audio player.
2. Press he MODE / Bu on (#6) repea edly o selec he AUX mode, The LED
Display show AU.
3. S ar playing he device you plugged in o he AUX IN Jack (#12).
4. Slowly adjus bo h he volume con rols of he JCR-228 and he ex ernal device
un il you reach a comfor able lis ening level.
5. Turn off your iPod, MP3 player e c. when finish lis ening.
6. Press and hold he MODE / Bu on (#6) 5 seconds o urn he JCR-228 off and
unplug he AUX IN Jack.

If you connec he JCR-228 o he Line-Ou Jack of your ex ernal device, you
only need o adjus he VOLUME CONTROL of your JCR-228. If you connec o
he Headphone Jack of your ex ernal device, you may need o adjus bo h he
volume con rols of your ex ernal device and he JCR-228 o ob ain he desirable
lis ening level.

Remember o urn off he JCR-228 when you have finished lis ening. Don' forge
o swi ch off he power of your ex ernal audio device as well.
DIMMER CONTROL
Press he DIMMER Bu on (#8) briefly o selec LED Display brigh ness.
SLEEP FUNCTION
This func ion allows you o program he sys em o urn i self OFF af er a se period of
ime. You can se your sleep ime while in Power On ( Radio, AUX or Blue oo h )
mode:
1. To ac iva e he sleep func ion, press he SLEEP bu on (#11) repea edly on he
uni , he display will show “90, 80, 70, 60, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, OFF in sequence.
2. When he display shows your desired sleep ime, release he bu on, he sleep
imer is now ac iva ed, he SLEEP Indica or will Turn On. The display show “10”
is o indica e “10 minu es” sleep ime and so on. When he sleep ime coun s o
zero, he uni will go off.
