TheuseofadditionalairstonesorairlinesisnotnecessarywiththeJUWEL
Aquariums.Ifanairstoneisused,thisshouldalwaysbeplacedinthemiddleof
theaquarium.Capillaryleaksresultingfromtheuseoftheseitemswillnotbe
acceptedasafaultwiththeaquarium.
Donottransportormoveyouraquariumwhilestillcontainingwaterorsand.
Alwaystakecarenottodamagethesealswhilemaintainingyouraquarium.
Donotusetoxicsubstancestocleanyouraquarium.
Safetyinstructions:
Thisapplianceisnotintendedforusebypersons(includingchildren)with
reducedphysical,sensoryormentalcapabilities,orlackofexperienceand
knowledge,unlesstheyhavebeengivensupervisionorinstructionconcerning
useoftheappliancebyapersonresponsiblefortheirsafety.Childrenshouldbe

WehaveproducedyourJUWELAquariumwiththeutmostcareusingmostadvanced
productiontechniques.Extrastrongpackaginghasbeenusedtopreventdamageto
theaquarium.Pleasenotehowever,thatyouraquariumhasbeentransportedand
handledseveraltimespriortoreachingitsfinaldestination.Werecommend
therefore,thatyoutesttheaquariumforleaksinasuitablearea(e.g.garage),by
fillingitwithwaterandcheckingitverycarefully.
Havingmadeyourchecks,youshouldselectthemostsuitableanddesirableposition
foryouraquarium.Thepositionselectedshouldhaveanevenandlevelsurfaceand
shouldbeabletosupporttheweightofthefilledaquarium.Inordertoprevent
excessivealgaegrowth,werecommendthatyouselectapositionthatisnotexposed
todirectdaylight.
Placetheaquariumdirectlyonthedesignatedbase.Theaquariumiscentredatthe
rearedgeofthebase.Donotuseadditionalpads.

2.Preparethefilterforoperationasdescribedinthechapter"PuttingtheJUWELfilter
BioflowMiniintooperation".
3.Completethedecorationwithgroundmaterialetc.asdesired.
4.Planttheshortplantspeciesintheaquariumifapplicable.
5.Slowlyfilltheaquariumwithwaterandplanttallerplantspeciesinitifapplicable.
6.Connectthepumpandanyotherdevicesthataresupposedtobeoperatedinthe
watertothepowergrid.
7.Installthecoverlightasdescribedinthechapter"CoverlightsystemJUWEL
Violux".
8.WerecommendintroducinginvertebrateorspecialfishspeciesfortheNanofish
keepinginsteps.Youmayputinthefirstanimalsafterafewdays.Thesealsoensure
thatthebiologicalfilterdevelops.Therun-inperiodofthefiltermaylast6-8weeks.
TheJUWELfilterBioflowMini
TheJUWELfilterBioflowMiniisahighlyeffectivebiologicalfiltersystemwith
componentsthatareharmonizedamongeachotherinanidealmanner.
Installingthefilterintheaquariummakeshoseconnectionsunnecessaryandprevents
leaks.Thepumpoutputisnotnegativelyaffectedbyhosecouplings,intaketubesetc.
Thepumpcapacityisdimensionedinsuchamannerthatthebiologicalfilteringis
ensuredbyasufficientflowthroughthefiltermaterialinanidealmanner.
Theconstructionofthefiltersystemenablesyoutoquicklyaccesstheindividualpump
andfiltermediumcomponents,facilitatingcomfortableoperationwhilecleaningand
maintainingthefiltersystem.

GettingStarted-TheJUWELfilterBioflowMini
Werecommendthatyoupreparethefiltersystemreadyforusebeforeyoufillthe
aquariumwithsand/gravel,plantsandwater.
Pleaseobservethefollowinginstructionscarefullytoensurethatthefiltersystem
worksatitsoptimum.
TheJUWELfilterBioflowMiniconsistsof:
-apump
-afilterhousing
-1bluefiltersponge
-4suctioncups
-anoutlet
Priortothefirstuseofthefilter,openthelowerandupperfiltercoversandremove
thefilterspongeaswellasthepumpinordertorinseallcomponentsunderrunning
water.
Insertthefilterspongeandthepumpbackintothefilterhousingandclosethefilter
covers.
Attachthefilterbymeansofsuctioncupsintherearrightcorneroftheaquarium.The
upperedgeofthefilterhousingshouldbe1cmbelowthewatersurfaceinorderto
achieveagoodflowthroughtheaquarium.
Carefullyattachtheoutletfromtheoutsidethroughtheopeningtothepumpoutlet
andensureitstightfit.

TheJUWELAquariumFilterSystemisabiologicalfiltersystem.Forittowork
effectively,bacteriacultureswillneedtogrowinsidethebluesponges.Thisprocess
cantakeup6-8weeksforthefiltertofullymature.Consequentlywerecommendto
decorateandplanttheaquariumandaddjustafew(3-5)hardyfishinordertohelp
thematurationprocess.Pleasetestthewateronaweeklybasistomonitorthewater
conditionsandoncethewaterissafeyoucanbegintoaddmorefish.

MaintainingtheJUWELPumpBioflow
TheJUWELaquariumpumprequireslittlemaintenance.Regardless,youshouldconfirm
thefunctionalityatregularintervals.
Pleaseperformthefollowingstepsinordertotestandmaintainthepump:
1.Disconnectthepumpandtheheaterfromthepowersupply.
2.Removethenozzles.
3.Removethepumpfromthepumpholderofthefilter.
4.Removethepumphousingfromthemotorandremovetheimpeller.
5.Thoroughlycleanallpartsandparticularlychecktheimpellerforsignsofwearat
themagnet.
6.Afterthat,pleasereinstallthepumpinreverseorderinthefilter.

Removethecoverlightfromthepackaging.
SlidethenewPLlampwiththesocketontheholderuntilitissecurelyseated.
Attachtheenclosedhingesinaccordancewiththemarkingstotheframeofthe
aquariumandarrangethecoverlight.Inthatcontext,ensurethatpowercablesare
alreadyroutedthroughthedesignatedrearopeningofthecoverlight.
Pushthepinsfromtheoutsideintothehingesuntiltheyaresecurelylockedandflush
withthehinge.
Nowthecoverlightmaybeconnectedtothepowergrid.
Inthatcontext,ensurethattheupperedgeoftheaquariumandtheguiderailsofthe
coverhatcharefreeofforeignobjects,e.g.sandorgravel.

MaintenanceandcareJUWELViolux
TheJUWELAquariumcoverlightrequiresverylittlemaintenanceandattention.
However,eachfluorescentlamplosesluminosityinthecourseoftime.Ofcoursethis
affectsthegrowthoftheplantsinyouraquarium.Becauseofthat,werecommendyou
toreplacethecompactfluorescentlampatregularintervals.
AstheJUWELTwin-LitePLlampformsaclosedunitwithapowerplug,the
replacementmayberealizedwithoutproblems.
ReplacementofthecompactfluorescentlampJUWELTwin-LitePL4(15watts):
-Pullthepowerplug.
-Pushthepinsconnectingthehingestothecoverfromtheinsidetotheoutsidefrom
thehinges.
-RemovethecoverlightfromtheaquariuminordertogainaccesstothePLlamp.
-PullthePLlamptotherightatthesocketinordertoremoveitfromtheholder.
-NowslidethenewPLlampontheholderuntilitissecurelyseated.
-Rearrangethecoverlightontheaquariumandpassthepowercordthroughthe
designatedrearopening.
-Pushthepinsfromtheoutsideintothehingesuntiltheyaresecurelylockedand
flushwiththehinge.
-Nowthecoverlightmaybeconnectedtothepowergrid.

purchaserforaperiodof24monthsfromthedateofpurchaseaccordingtothe

(1)ThisguaranteeextendstotheJUWEL-Aquariumproductanditscomponents
excludingitemssubjecttowearandtearsuchaslighttubesandfiltermedia.Itis
limitedtotheproductassuchanddoesnotcoverdamagetootherpropertyand/or
individuals.Inaddition,theprovisionsoftheproductliabilitylawapply.These
provisionsarenotlimitedbytheaforementionedarrangement.
(2)ItistheprerogativeofJUWEL-Aquariumtodecidewhethertheguaranteeis
performedbymeansofrepairorreplacement.Ifneitherrepairnorreplacementcan
ensuretheperformanceoftheJUWEL-Aquariumproductthepurchaserisentitledto
demandareductioninpriceortoreturntheproductagainstrepaymentofthe
purchaseprice.
§2Guaranteeperiodandsettlementprocedure
(1)Theguaranteeperiodbeginsonthedayofthepurchaseoftheproductfromthe
retailer.Claimsunderthisguaranteewillnotbehonoured,if
(a)thedamageiscausedasaresultofimproperuseormaintenanceornon-
observanceoftheinstructionsgiveninthismanual
(b)theproductoritscomponentshavebeenmaintainedbypersonsorcompaniesnot
authorisedbythemanufacturertodoso
(c)theproductoritscomponentshavebeendamagedbymechanicalmeansof
whatsoeverkind,inparticularbrokenglass
(2)Allclaimsunderthisguaranteehavetobenotifiedtotheretailer,fromwhomthe
aquariumhasbeenpurchasedwithoutdelay,however,notlongerthan2weeksfrom
thedayoffirstoccurrenceofdefects.Rightsundertheconsumerprotectionlawswill
remainunaffected.
(3)Guaranteeclaimswillonlybeacceptedifthevalidityoftheclaimissupportedby
evidenceofpurchaseoftheJUWEL-Aquariumproduct.
