IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
Please read these instructions carefully before using the appliance,
and always follow the safety and operating instructions.
Important: This appliance can be used by children over 8 years old
and people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities or
with a lack of experience or knowledge if they have been given
supervision or instructions concerning the safe use of the appliance
and the risks involved. Children shall not play with the appliance.
Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless
they are older than 8 years and supervised. Never leave the
appliance and its cord unsupervised and within reach of children less
than 8 years old or irresponsible persons when it is plugged into the
wall or when it is cooling down.
 Check that your mains voltage corresponds to that stated on the
appliance.
 Never leave the appliance unsupervised when in use.
 From time to time check the appliance for damages. Never use
the appliance if cord or appliance shows any signs of damage. In
that case, repairs should be made by a competent qualified
electrician(*). Should the cord be damaged, it must be replaced
by a competent qualified electrician(*).
 Only use the appliance for domestic purposes and in the way
indicated in these instructions.
 Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid for any
reason whatsoever. Never put it in the dishwasher.
 Never use the appliance near hot surfaces.
 Before cleaning or storing the appliance, always unplug the
appliance from the power supply and let it cool down.
 Never use the appliance outside and always place it in a dry
environment.
 Never use accessories that are not recommended by the
producer. They could constitute a danger to the user and risk to
damage the appliance.
 Never move the appliance by pulling the cord. Make sure the cord
cannot get caught in any way. Stand the appliance on a table or
flat surface. Do not wind the cord around the appliance and do
not bend it.



 If your type of appliance has a separate base, remove the
appliance from the base before filling it. If your appliance has a
fixed cord, unplug it before filling it.
 Always fill the appliance between the minimum and maximum
marks. The water must never be below the minimum mark or the
heating element might be damaged. Do not overfill the jug kettle
as boiling water might overflow.
 When using the appliance, make sure the lid is closed securely.
Never raise the lid when the jug kettle is in use and when there are
risks of hot water projection due to the bubbling.
 Be careful not to get burned by the hot steam that evaporates
when the water is boiling and especially when you open the lid.
 Use only the base that is supplied with the jug kettle.
 Should the symbol be indicated on a certain surface, you
need to be careful when handling the product. This symbol means
“CAUTION, this surface may get very hot during use”.
(*) Competent qualified electrician: after-sales department of the
producer or importer or any person who is qualified, approved and
competent to perform these kinds of repairs in order to avoid all
danger. In case of need you should return the appliance to this
electrician.
UK TYLE PLUG WIRING IN TRUCTION (IN THE UK ONLY)
This product must only be used from a 13 amp power socket. If a BS1363 approved 13 amp
plug is used, it should be fitted with a 13 amp fuse conforming to BS1362 and be ASTA
approved. The wires on the power cord are colour coded:
blue = neutral, brown = live, green or green & yellow = earth.
The blue wire must be connected to the terminal marked N or coloured in black.
The brown wire must be connected to the terminal marked L or coloured in red.
The green (& yellow) wire must be connected to the terminal marked E or coloured in green (&
yellow).

BEFORE THE FIR T OPERATION
For the perfect taste, operate the jug kettle with fresh water in order to clean any residue left
from the manufacturing process. When the appliance has cooled down, repeat the process 3
times with fresh water, before rinsing.
OPERATION
• Always unplug the appliance and remove the jug from the power base before filling.
• Open the lid and fill the tank with fresh water, paying attention not to fill under the
minimum mark or above the maximum mark on the water level indicator.
• Be economical – do not boil more water than you need.
• To improve the quality of your drinks, always use fresh water.
• Empty the kettle after each use.
• Close the lid. Make sure the lid closes securely and cannot be opened without pressing
the Button Operated Lid Release.
• Plug in the appliance and switch to either the 85 degree position ( P) or the 100 degree
position (DOWN).
• Your Dual Temperature KitchenOriginals kettle will heat to the selected temperature and
switch off automatically.
• An audible clicking noise may occur during operation of the 100 degree boiling cycle.
This is entirely normal as the temperature surpasses the 85 degree setting.
• To interrupt the boiling cycle, ensure that the switch is in the OFF position before removing
from the power base.
• Your kettle is fitted with a removable / washable filter to hold back limescale particles.
• If you find droplets of water under your kettle, do not worry – it is just condensation.
AFETY CUT-OFF / BOIL DRY PROTECTION
• This jug kettle is protected with an automatic safety device, which switches off the
appliance if it is accidentally switched on without water. Please bear in mind that only the
thermostat is switched off in case of overheating, whereas the switch may stay in ON
position.
• In this case, switch off the appliance by putting the switch in OFF position and wait about
10 minutes for the element to cool. Then pour in sufficient cold water to cover the heating
element. This will reset the safety device.
• The kettle may then be used as normal.
DUAL TEMPERATURE ON/ OFF WITCH
Your KitchenOriginals kettle has two temperature settings, which are operated as follows:
• 100 DEGREE ETTING – Push the On / Off switch DOWN to the 100 DEGREE position and the
indicator will illuminate. The kettle will boil as normal, however an audible click noise may
occur during operation of the 100 degree boiling cycle. This is entirely normal as the
temperature surpasses the 85 degree setting. A 100 degree boiling temperature is a
suitable option for beverages that require intense heat to optimise the flavours. Examples
of teas that can require 100 degree boiling temperatures are breakfast tea, black tea,
Rooibos tea, Herbal tea and Fruit tea.



85 DEGREE ETTING – Lift the On / Off switch P to the 85 DEGREE position, and the indicator
will illuminate. The kettle will heat to 85 degrees before switching off automatically. This is a
suitable setting for beverages that require a lower temperature to optimise the flavours.
Examples of teas that can require 85 degree temperatures are Green tea, White tea, Oolong
tea, coffee, chamomile tea, and Earl Grey.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
• Before attempting any cleaning operation, make sure the appliance is unplugged from
the supply socket and fully cooled down.
• To clean the exterior surfaces, simply wipe over with a soft damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
• Never use abrasive products.
• On no account must the jug kettle or its power base be immersed in water.
FILTER
• Your appliance is provided with a filter. When you want to boil water, settle the filter first.
• To remove the particle/limescale filter, first ensure the appliance is cool. Then open the lid
and carefully remove the filter by sliding the component upwards from its secure housing.
Clean the filter under running water.
• The filter should be rinsed clean regularly.
Practical hints:
Should you notice that the appliance process is longer than normal, it is probably time to
descale the appliance. Do not wait until the situation gets worse. The descaling frequency
depends on the amount of lime in the water and therefore can be different from family to



family. Therefore it is important to pay attention to this. A good maintenance of your appliance
will prolong its lifespan. Guarantee claims will not be accepted for the replacement of a
heating element full of scale.
DE CALING
The major cause of damage to kettles is limescale and your kettle will require regular
maintenance to ensure that it continues to work properly. Limescale deposits continue to build
up over time, blocking important parts of the kettle, and stopping it from working properly.
Types of problems caused by limescale build up:
Colour: Limescale will decolour your kettle.
Performance: Your kettle will take longer to boil (wasting electricity) and eventually will switch
off before it has boiled.
Taste: Limescale can give the water a chalky taste and limescale flakes will give a gritty
texture.
Other care tips:
To clean the outside of your kettle, use a soft, wet cloth. Always ensure appliance is cool
before cleaning.
Avoid using abrasive cleaning agents.

electronic equipment should be disposed of in accordance with specific rules with the
implication of both suppliers and users. For this reason, as indicated by the symbol on the

municipal waste. The user has the right to bring it to a municipal collection point performing
waste recovery by means of reuse, recycling or use for other applications in accordance with
the directive.
