QU1CK START GUIDE
Box contents
Before you install the controller, check that the product box contains the
following parts:
1. 1 KT-1
2. 1 quick start guide
3. Installation guide
4. Accessories kit
Modes of operation
You can use the KT-1 in two different modes, Stand-alone mode, or with
full capability software, EntraPass, in order to connect to a system with
additional doors and controllers.
Powering the KT-1
There are three different ways you can power the KT-1. You can use
power over ethernet (PoE), power over ethernet plus (PoE+), or con-
nect an external power supply to the 12VDC input.
1. Power the KT-1 as shown in the KT-1 installation guide.
2. Connect the KT-1 using an Ethernet cable to the local area net-
work (LAN).
Connecting the KT-1 using a browser
The KT-1 web interface provides and quick and easy setup and con-
figuration option for users.
1. Determine your connection to the KT-1 and choose the appro-
priate network cable that you need.
2. To access the KT-1 web page open a browser on your computer
or mobile device.
3. Enter KT followed by the last 6 digits of the MAC address into
your browser in the following format: KT-XX-YY-ZZ.
Activating the KT-1
You can activate the KT-1 in Stand-alone mode in two ways depending
on your requirements, auto and manual.

Activating Stand-alone mode
Stand-alone mode does not require the installation of software and is
beneficial for users needing a quick set up solution. Stand-alone mode
is when all operations and programming is carried out using the
browser. You can configure your controller in Stand-alone mode using
any of the common web browsers. To activate your KT-1 in Stand-alone
mode, click the Stand-alone button.
lIn the Activate now tab enter the Customer information and
Installer information and click the Activate now button. Refer
to figure 2.

Other ways to activate Stand-alone mode
Alternatively you can select the Other ways to activate button.
1. Contact Kantech Technical Support in your region to get an Activation
code.
2. Enter the Activation code.

Using EntraPass mode
To use in EntraPass mode click the EntraPass button.
1. Navigate to the EntraPass gateway pane.
2. Enter the IP address or Domain name.
3. Select a Protocol (TCP or UDP).
4. Enter a Port (UDP only).
5. Click the Save button.
Setting up using the wizard
The wizard will help you set up the KT1 in just a few steps.
Entering credentials
lEnter your credentials selecting Installer or Operator and
click Next step.
Notes:
1. In the password field, the minimum password requirements
are 8 characters including lowercase, uppercase, a number
and a special character.
2. There is no way to restore a forgotten password. You must
factory reset the unit.
Setting the date and time
lConfigure the Date,Date format,Hour and Time zone, and
click Next step.
Formatting cards
1. Select your card's Reader Type and card format where
HHHH:DDDDD is the default.
2. Choose the Number of PIN digits.
3. To Allow PIN duplication check the box and click Next step.
Configuring doors
1. Define the Door name and enter the corresponding reader
Serial number (ioSmart only).
2. Enter the corresponding reader Serial number for the Exit
door (ioSmart only).
3. Choose from Fail safe or Fail secure, and click Next Step.
4. In the Summary & Backup tab, review the information
entered and select Save.
Note: The Door Contact input and REX input boxes are checked by
default.
