Thechaptersthattakeplaceinthisguidehavebeencreatedinorderto
presentdetailedtechnicalinformationtopeoplewhoneedhardware-
basedtechnicalinformationabouttheAutoAttendant(ACD–Automatic
Call Distributor) andtheVoiceMailmodulesof theMS-seriesexchanges,
andinordertogiveinformationaboutprogrammingandutilizingthe
modules.Bythisway,onecouldunderstandtheabilitiesof themodules,
howtheywill beoperatedin accordancewithcustomerdemands and
thingsthatshouldbedoneinordertooperatethemodulesin full
performance.
Thefirstchapter-“TechnicalIntroduction”–Itcontainstechnical
informationaboutthehardwareandsoftwarestructuresof themodules.
Informationin thischapter,forwhichknowledgein mechanics,electricity
andelectronicsmaybeprerequisite,aimstointroducestructureof the
EVMmodules.
Thesecondchapter–“Installation”–Itexplainstheinstallationmethods
of each EVMmoduleseparately.Thischaptermustbereaddefinitely
beforetheinstallationbythepersonnel whowill performtheinstallation.
Thethirdchapter–“Programming”–Itgivesshortinformationaboutthe
softwarefeaturesthatwill enrichfunctionsof theEVMmodulesandthat
couldbeappliedtomeetdailycommunicationneedsof customersmore
comprehensively.
Thefourthchapter–“UserFeatures”–Itcontainsthedetailsof the

TECHNICAL INTRODUCTION
GENERAL INTRODUCTIONOFTHE EVMMODULES
TheEVMmodulesaretheoptionalAutoAttendant(ACD-Automatic Call
Distributor)andvoicerecordingsystemsthatareutilizedinMS-series
exchangesof MS38Sandhighercapacity.
Each EVMmodulepossessespermanentmessagecapacity.However,that
capacitycanbeincreasedbyemployingauxiliaryexpansionmoduleswhen
necessary.ThesemodulesarecalledEVM-FL(FlashMemory)andEVM-DL
(DRAMMemory).
Recordingof themessagestobeusedfortheACDaredoneintothenon-
volatilememories(FlashMemory)ontheEVMmodules,sothatthose
messagesarenoterasedin caseof anyblackout.Ontheotherhand,the
voicemailmessagesthataretoberecordedintothevoicemailmessage
boxesallocatedtotheextensionsarestoredinthevolatilememories(DRAM
Memory),hence,theyareerasedduringablackout.
TheACDandvoicemailmessageboxesarepresentin all EVMmodules.In
additiontothose,thefeatureof thesystemmessagesisalsopresentin
EVM128SandEVM224Smodulesonly,inordertopresentadditionalservices
tousers.Thankstothesystemmessages,usersareinformedbyvoicemail
messagesaboutstatusesof theirphonesandtheauthorizationstheyhave
beengrantedforseveralservices.Thesystemmessagesaresavedintothe
non-volatilememoriesaswell,andtheyarenoterasedincaseof any
blackout,either.

Thereareseveralmessageboxesfordifferenttasksdependingonthe
structureof theEVMmodule:
1. Thereareeither24 or64messageboxesdependingonthestructureof
theEVMmodule,inordertodirectpartiescallingfromoutside. Those
havebeenreferredtoasACDMessageswithin thisguide. Themessage
boxesreservedfortheACDMessageshavebeennumberedfrom00 to
63 fortheEVM128SandEVM224Smodules,andfrom00 to23 forthe
othermodules.TheACDMessagesaretheonesthatassistparties
callingfromoutsidetoreachtheextensionsortheservicesdirectly,
whichtheywish.
2. Inorderfortheuserstoleavevoicemailmessagesforeach other,there
isenoughmemoryontheEVM128SandEVM224Smodulestostore34
minutesof messagesintotal.AsfortheotherEVMmodules,DRAM
memorycanbeconstitutedbyinstallingtheEVM-DLcardonthe
module. ThosehavebeenreferredtoasVoiceMailMessageswithinthis
guide. TheVoiceMailMessagesfeatureincludesanykindof message
leaving,messagereceiving,messagelisteningandmessagerecording
operation.
3. Thereare64 voicemailmessageboxesontheEVM128SandEVM224S
modules,inordertoinformusersaboutthestatusesof their phones.
ThosehavebeenreferredtoastheSystemMessageswithintheguide.
ThemessageboxesreservedfortheSystemMessageshavebeen
numberedfrom000 to063.Thesystemmessagesaretheonesthat
informtheextensionsinthesystemaboutthechangeswhichoccurin
thestatusesof theirphonesduetofeaturestheymakeuseof or
activate,ortheyaretheonesthatdirectthepartieswhichaccess the
systemfromoutside,withoutassistanceof theoperator.
TheEVMModulesofferdifferentcapacityandserviceoptionsindifferent
models.Thosehavebeenexplainedin detail below,foreach module:

INSTALLATION
EVM38S:
Installationof EVM38Sstartswiththemountingof theplastic boxof the
moduleonthewall.Forthis:
1) Frontcoverof theEVM38Splasticboxisopenedbypressingthesmall
holesonthesidefaceswithascrewdriverorwithasimilartoolthatis
thin,butwithadull point,andbypullingthecovertowardfrontatthe
sametime.
2) Thelocationwherethemodulewill bemountedisdeterminedbymaking
useof themountingtemplatethatcomeswiththemoduleandthescrew
spotsaremarked.(Alocationclosetotheexchangeshouldbechosen
fortheinstallationbytakingthelengthof theEVM38Sconnectioncable
intoconsideration,whilethisoperationisbeingfulfilled).
3) Theanchorplugs aredrivenintothewall atthemarkedspotswithout
deviatingfromtheactual points.
4) Thescrewsaresodriventoleave7mm-portionof their heads outof the
wall.(Heightsof thescrewheads canbecheckedbytheedgeof the
mountingtemplate).
5) Themoduleishungbylettingthescrewheads pass throughthepear
holesatthebackcoverof it.
6) Thefrontcoverof themoduleisreplacedafterthecableconnectionis
completed.
Importantnote : IftheEVM38Smodulewill operatetogetherwithMS38S
R40Gaoranexchangeof anearlierversion,thentheEVM38Sconverter
cablemustbeused.
Thefree andof thecableof theexchange,whosewall mountinghasbeen
completed,isconnectedtotheEVMconnectorof theexchange,andthe
systemsetupbecomescomplete.
