Checking the CPU LEDs and Powering Down
Before powering down, you must check the CPU PCB LEDs.
Step 1
Carefully check the CPU LEDs
(Figure 3: Checking the CPU LEDs)
.
- Make sure that
LD2
is the only LED flashing on the CPU.
(
LD2
flashes green 1/2 second on and 1/2 second off.)
- If any other LEDs on the CPU are flashing, wait until they stop.
-
If you turn off the system while LEDs other than LD2 are flashing, system data could become
corrupted as the system powers down.

Installing the IntraMail PCB.
Step 1
Take adequate anti-static precautions.
- You should always wear a grounded wrist strap when installing or removing the IntraMail PCB.
- Be sure the wrist strap is attached to a known earth ground (such as the earth ground lug on the
Aspire S cabinet).
- Discharge any built-up static electricity by touching the cabinet earth ground lug.
Step 2
Install the plastic stand-offs
(Figure 4: Installing the IntraMail PCB)
.
- Included with the IntraMail PCB are four plastic stand-offs (spacers).
- You must install one stand-off in each corner of the IntraMail PCB.
- Be sure to install the stand-offs from the back (underneath) side of the PCB. Once installed, the
IntraMail CompactFlash card must face up.
Step 3
Insert the IntraMail CompactFlash card into the IntraMail PCB.
Step 4
Insert the IntraMail PCB into the CN4 connector on the CPU.
-
Position the IntraMail PCB over the
CN4
connector — then push the PCB into the connector on
the CPU.
- Push the corners of the IntraMail PCB down so the spacers lock into the CPU.

Upgrading the IntraMail PCB
The IntraMail software is integrated into the telephone system software. The IntraMail voice prompts (and
messages) are stored on the CompactFlash card that plugs into the IntraMail PCB. You will never have to do
a separate upgrade to get new IntraMail features, but you may need to upgrade the voice prompts stored on
the CompactFlash card to activate those new features.
Step 1 Be sure the system is powered down.
- You should never remove the IntraMail CompactFlash card with the system powered up.
Step 2 Slide out the CompactFlash card (Figure 6: Removing the IntraMail CompactFlash Card).
- Be sure to take adequate static precautions.
- Slide out the CompactFlash card as shown below.
Figure 6: Removing the IntraMail CompactFlash Card
Step 3 Use the IntraMail Utility to upgrade the CompactFlash card.
- Refer to Using the IntraMail Utility (P/N 80054INS**) for instructions on how to upgrade the
CompactFlash card.
Step 4 Reinstall the CompactFlash card and power up the system.

Initial Configuration and Programming
10 ◆Chapter 1: Quick Setup IntraMail for Aspire System Guide
Programming
Initial Configuration and Programming
Start-up (Default) IntraMail Configuration
When you install the IntraMail PCB and turn on the system, IntraMail will automatically start working with
the following default programming:
■IntraMail extensions (343-350) are in Department Group 8, which is the Voice Mail Department Group.
■The IntraMail Pilot (Master) Number is 700.
■Subscriber Mailboxes are enabled for extensions 301-308. The mailbox numbers are the same as the
extension numbers.
■Extension users for 301-308 can press MSG to call their mailbox.
■The Automated Attendant does not answer outside calls.
Enabling the Mailboxes for all Installed Extensions
Since by default only extensions 301-308 have Subscriber Mailboxes, you should enable additional Sub-
scriber Mailboxes for all installed extensions.
To enable additional Subscriber Mailboxes:
■In 47-02-01: Mailbox Active on page 200, enter 1to enable a Subscriber Mailbox for each extension.
- To make programming easier, consider associating a mailbox number with a station port. For exam-
ple, mailbox 1 should correspond to port 1, which in turn corresponds to extension 301.
■In 47-02-02: Mailbox Number on page 200,
select the extension number to be associated with the mailbox
you are programming.
-
Normally, mailbox 1 should use Mailbox Number 301, mailbox 2 should use Mailbox Number 302, etc.
■In 15-02-26: MSG Key Operation Mode, enter 1at each extension for which you are adding a mailbox.
This enables the MSG key for Voice Mail access.
- You can optionally use 15-07-01: Programming Function Keys to assign a Voice Mail programma-
ble key (code 77).
- If you don’t assign the MSG key or a programmable key for Voice Mail access, an extension user
can access their mailbox by:
- Pressing an idle CALL key.
- Dialing 700.
- Dialing their mailbox number.
