1.3 Warranty terms and conditions
KaVo provides the end customer with a warranty that the product cited in the
handover certificate will function properly and guarantees zero defects in the ma‐
terial or processing for a period of 12 months from data of purchase, subject to
the following conditions:
Upon justified complaints of flaws or a short delivery, KaVo will make good its
warranty by replacing the product free of cost or repairing it according to the cus‐
tomer's wishes. Other claims of any nature whatsoever, in particular with respect
to compensation, are excluded. In the event of default and gross negligence or in‐
tent, this shall only apply in the absence of mandatory legal regulations to the
contrary.
KaVo cannot be held liable for defects and their consequences due to natural
wear, improper cleaning or maintenance, non-compliance with operating, mainte‐
nance or connection instructions, calcination or corrosion, contaminated air or wa‐
ter supplies or chemical or electrical factors deemed abnormal or impermissible in
accordance with factory specifications.
The warranty does not usually cover bulbs, glassware, rubber parts and the col‐
ourfastness of plastics.
Defects or their consequences that can be attributed to interventions on or
changes made to the product by the customer or a third party are excluded from
the warranty.
Claims from this warranty can only be asserted when the transfer form (copy) be‐
longing to the product has been sent to KaVo, and the original can be presented
by the operator or user.
1.4 Transportation and storage
1.4.1 Currently valid packaging regulations
Note
Only valid for the Federal Republic of Germany.
Properly dispose of and recycle the sales packaging, in accordance with the rele‐
vant packaging regulations, through waste management businesses or recycling
companies that run a comprehensive return system. KaVo has licensed its sales
packaging in accordance with this directive. Please conform with the regional,
public waste-disposal system regulations.

1.4.2 Damage in transit
In Germany
If the packaging is visibly damaged on delivery, please proceed as follows:
1. The recipient of the package must record the loss or damage on the delivery
receipt. The recipient and the representative of the shipping company must
sign this delivery receipt.
2. Leave the product and packaging in the condition in which you received it.
3. Do not use the product.
4. Report the damage to the shipping company.
5. Report the damage to KaVo.
6. You must contact KaVo before returning a damaged product.
7. Send the signed delivery receipt to KaVo.
If the product is damaged but there was no discernable damage to the packaging
upon delivery, proceed as follows:
1. Report the damage to the shipping company immediately and no later than 7
days after delivery.
2. Report the damage to KaVo.
3. Leave the product and packaging in the condition in which you received it.
4. Do not use a damaged product.
Note
Failure on the part of the recipient to comply with any of the above obligations
will mean that the damage will be considered to have arisen following delivery (in
accordance with ADSp. Art. 28).
Outside Germany
Note
KaVo is not liable for damage arising from transportation.
Immediately inspect the delivery after receipt!
If the packaging is visibly damaged on delivery, please proceed as follows:
1. The recipient of the package must record the loss or damage on the delivery
receipt. The recipient and the representative of the shipping company must
sign this delivery receipt.
Without this evidence, the recipient will not be able to assert a claim for dam‐
ages against the shipping company.
2. Leave the product and packaging in the condition in which you received it.
3. Do not use the product.
If the product is damaged but there was no discernable damage to the packaging
upon delivery, proceed as follows:
1. Report any damage to the shipping company either immediately or no later
than 7 days after delivery.
2. Leave the product and packaging in the condition in which you received it.
3. Do not use a damaged product.

Note
Failure on the part of the recipient to comply with one of the above obligations
will mean that the damage will be considered to have arisen following delivery (in
accordance with CMR law, Chapter 5, Art. 30).

2.1 Description of safety instructions

2.1.3 Description of hazardous steps
Safety instructions with three hazard levels are used in this document to prevent
personal and property damage.
CAUTION
CAUTION
indicates a hazardous situation that can cause damage to property or mild to
moderate injuries.

indicates a hazardous situation that can cause death or serious injury.

indicates a hazardous situation that can directly cause death or serious injury.
2.2 Purpose – Proper use
This KaVo product is an operating light for illuminating the oral cavity during den‐
tal treatment.
Install the KAVOLUX 1410 C directly on the ESTETICA E50, E70 or E80 treat‐
ment centre.
Do not operate the KAVOLUX 1410 C in areas subject to an explosion hazard.
Do not operate the KAVOLUX 1410 C unless the protective shield is pre-mounted
since this protects from contact and chips.

"Proper use" includes following all the instructions for use and ensuring that all in‐
spections and service tasks are performed.
The overarching guidelines and/or national laws, national regulations and the
rules of technology applicable to the startup and use of the KaVo product for the
intended purpose are to be applied and complied with.
The user must ensure that the unit works properly and is in satisfactory condition
before each use.
During use, national legal regulations must be observed, in particular:
▪ the applicable health and safety regulations
▪ the applicable accident prevention regulations
Users have a duty to:
▪ Only use equipment that is operating correctly
▪ to protect himself, the patient and third parties from danger.
▪ to avoid contamination from the product
The electrical system must meet the requirements and regulations of VDE 0107
and VDE 0100.
The safety checks (SC) must be done at 24-month intervals.

2.2.1 Information on electromagnetic compatibility
Note
Based on EN 60601-1-2 concerning the electromagnetic compatibility of electro‐
medical devices, the following should be noted:
• Medical electrical devices are subject to special measures regarding electro‐
magnetic compatibility and must be operated in accordance with KaVo assembly
instructions.
• Portable and mobile high-frequency communications devices can influence
electrical medical devices.

KaVo cannot guarantee the compliance of accessories, enclosed cables, and

2.2.2 Disposal
Note
Any waste which is generated must be recycled or disposed of in a manner
which is safe both for people and for the environment. This must be done in strict
compliance with all applicable national regulations.
Questions on proper disposal of the KaVo product can be answered by the KaVo
branch.
2.2.3 Disposal of electronic and electrical devices
Note
According to EC directive 2002/96 concerning used electrical and electronic de‐
vices, this product is subject to the cited directive and must be disposed of ac‐
cordingly within Europe.

4 Assembly
4.1 Packaging
4.1.1 Transportation and storage
The packaging consists of styrofoam and is itself packaged in Superwell card‐
board. The instructions printed on the outside are for transportation and storage,
and have the following meaning:
1. Transport upright; the arrows point upward
2. Protect from impact
3. Protect from moisture
4. Temperature -20 °C to + 55 °C
5. 5% to 95% non-condensating
6. Air pressure 700 hPa to 1060 hPa

4.1.3 Removal from the packaging
Note
To keep the treatment light from being damaged, use the following sequence to
remove the light from the packaging.
▶ Remove the styrofoam filling ① from the operating light.
▶ Grasp the operating light on the swinging arm ② and the spring arm ③ and
pull out vertically with the styrofoam filling ④ .
▶ Place the operating light on the packaging.

▶ Remove the styrofoam filling ④ from the operating light.
4.2 Mounting the device
4.2.1 General instructions on mounting the unit
Note
Comply with the provisions of IEC 601.
Turn off the main switch before mounting.
The assembly of the device comprises the following steps in the specified se‐
quence:

▶ Removing the rear service flap
▶ Removing the cover of the connection point.
▶ Screw off the cover ①.
▶ Loosen screw ② below the main switch.
▶ Loosen the fastening screws of the cladding (see arrow) and remove the clad‐
ding.

▶ Loosen screws ③ on the disinfection container and remove the container ④.
▶ Ensure that the protective earth screw ⑥ and fastening screws ⑤ and ⑦ do
not reach into the light holder.
Note
When the mounting rod extends into the light holder, it can damage the paint.
Screw in the depth stop screw ⑧ completely.
▶ Slide the cover ① (Mat. no. 0.764.7643) onto the mounting pole ②.
▶ Insert the mounting pole into the lamp holder.
Positioning the mounting pole:
▪ It is approx. 1800 mm from the top edge to the floor.
▪ The borehole for the swivel arm brake points in the direction 6 o´ clock
▶ Tighten the earth protector screw ⑥ and fastening screws ⑤ and ⑦.
▶ Return the disinfection container ④ to its former position and fix with screws
③.
