PRECAUTIONS
► Au GOLD FINDER s a state-of-the-art electronc metal detector. Please read the User
Manual before you assemble or operate the metal detector.
IMPORTANT: Do not store the detector and search col under extremely low and hgh
temperatures for extended perods.
► Detector s IP54 complant. Do not mmerse the detector (except for the search col) n
water.
► Protect the detector aganst mpacts durng normal use. For shppng, carefully place
detector n orgnal carton and secure wth shock resstant packagng.

Au GOLD FINDER metal detector may only be dsassembled and repared by Nokta
Authorzed Servce Centers. Unauthorzed dsassembly / ntruson nto the metal detector
control housng for any reason vods the warranty.

Loosen the twst lock on upper s-shaft before
mountng the md-shaft to the upper shaft. Press
down the pn n md-shaft, engage the peces
together by nsertng md-shaft nto upper s-shaft
beng careful to algn pn n shaft wth algnment
hole n upper s-shaft. Slghtly rotate md-shaft
durng nserton untl pn clcks nto place n upper
s-shaft algnment hole and tghten the twst lock.
Twst lock need only be hand tght to engage.
To attach the system box to the upper shaft, nsert
the thumb-screw through the hole. Then, place the
thumb-screw n threaded mount pont (threaded
bronze plug) on undersde of system box and
frmly tghten.
Insert the washers on the lower shaft yoke.
Carefully nsert the lower shaft yoke between
search col mount tabs. Insert non-metallc lever
bolt through col mount tabs. Install and tghten
non-metallc wnged nut onto the threaded lever
bolt and securely tghten.
Loosen the twst lock on md-shaft before
mountng the md-shaft to the lower shaft. Press
down the pn n lower shaft, engage the peces
together by nsertng lower shaft nto md-shaft
beng careful to algn pn n shaft wth algnment
hole n md-shaft. Slghtly rotate lower shaft durng
nserton untl pn clcks nto place n md-shaft
algnment hole and tghten the twst lock. Twst
lock need only be hand tght to engage. To adjust
length of metal detector shaft, smply loosen the
md-shaft twst lock and depress lower shaft sprng
tab. Smultaneously rotate lower shaft slghtly and
shorten or extend to lower shaft to desred length,
re-algn sprng tab nto desred algnment hole and
retghten md-shaft twst lock.
Carefully spool the search col cable (do not twst
or stretch) onto the lower and md-shafts. Insert
the cable connector nto the system box nput
socket and secure by tghtenng the nut. Do not
pull on cable when removng col cable connector
from System Box.
Insert armrest strap through ts slot as shown n
the fgure. Adjust armrest poston by loosenng
fasteners and sldng armrest forward / rearward to
desred poston and retghten fasteners.

1. Before startng, you wll need:
A. Au GOLD FINDER System Box
B. Adjustable Web Belt
C. Web Belt wth Velcro end
D. Au GOLD FINDER Shaft Assembly wth Col
attached.
2. Begn by placng Au GOLD FINDER System
Box on flat surface wth Control Panel facng
away from you undersde up. Next, nsert Web
Belt wth Velcro end (C) through belt loops
molded nto Au GOLD FINDER System Box.
NOTE: Rght handed User should route belt
left to rght wth Velcro sde up; Left handed
User should route belt rght to left wth Velcro
sde up.
3. Insert Web Belt wth Velcro end (C) through
the nylon belt rng on end of Adjustable Web
Belt (B) so that web belt adjustment slde s
facng down. Next, center nylon belt rng on
Belt (B) between male and female Velcro pads
on Belt (C) and fold/secure Velcro end of Belt
(C) to Velcro pad Belt (C).
4. Web Belt adjustment slde allows belt
length adjustment to ft User preference.

6. Snap Web Belt Buckle ends together. Make
fnal web belt length adjustments as necessary
to sut User preference.
7. Insert Au GOLD FINDER Col Cable through
Web Belt Loop whch should be postoned
on Web Belt sde opposte Au GOLD FINDER
System Box adjacent to Belt Buckle.
8. Insert Au GOLD FINDER Col Cable through
Flexble Belt Loop whch s sewn nto Web
Belt and located adjacent to Web Belt Buckle
on same sde as Au GOLD FINDER System
Box.
9. Pull approxmately 14”of Au GOLD FINDER
Col Cable through the Flexble Belt Loop and
attach Col Cable Connector nto System Box
Cable Connector. Ensure Connectors are
properly algned and hand-tghten.
NOTE: Be sure to have enough Col Cable
extendng through Flexble Belt Loop.
You are now ready to detect usng the Au

Battery Details
The Au GOLD FINDER s suppled wth four AA Alkalne batteres.
Twst to remove the battery compartment cover (threaded rng/dsc and AA battery
holder. Insert the batteres nto battery holder. Ensure batteres are nstalled properly (+
postve / - negatve). Renstall battery holder nto System Box and secure wth threaded
rng/dsc untl hand tght. Cauton: Do not over tghten threaded rng.
The Au GOLD FINDER wll operate optmally for approxmately 25-30 hours wth the use
of qualty, fully charged AA batteres. Use of lesser qualty AA batteres may reduce tme
detector optmally performs. Cauton: Do not use camera batteres or 3x/9x lthum
batteres as they may damage the detector and vod the warranty.
Qualty AA Alkalne batteres are recommended for the best performance. Qualty N-MH
rechargeable batteres can be used also. Rechargeable batteres wth hgher mAh
(capacty) ratngs offer extended operatng tmes than batteres wth lower mAh ratng.
NOTE: Rechargeable AA batteres are 1.2v and Alkalne AA batteres are 1.5v. Optmal
performance of detector s drectly related to qualty and charge of batteres. Detector
optmally performs wth qualty 1.5v Alkalne AA batteres. Do not mx batteres. All
batteres nstalled should be the same type/ratng to ensure optmal performance of
metal detector.
Battery Status and Low Level Battery Warnng
Battery status/warnng: Upon ntal start up, the Au GOLD FINDER wll emt a number of
beeps to ndcate the battery status. Battery status/warnng conssts of fve (5) levels wth
fve (5) representng fully charged and one (1) representng nearly depleted charge status.
Detector wll emt fve (5) beeps to ndcate fully charged batteres, four (4), three (3), two
(2) beeps to ndcate dmshng charge and one (1) beep f the batteres are low. When the
batteres are approachng full depleton, the detector wll start emttng contnuous beeps
at short ntervals ndcatng an mmedate need to change the batteres.

Assemble the detector per nstructons on page 1.
Insert the batteres correctly (+/- polarty).
Rotate the Off/Volume swtch clockwse to turn on the metal detector. Ths swtch also
adjusts the volume. Immedately after turnng detector on, the metal detector wll
emt beep(s) ndcatng the battery lfe status.
Select the Mode.
Adjust the DISC. FILTER, SENSITIVITY and SAT/MASK swtches to ther default
postons (hghlghted numbers) on the control panel.
Auto ground balance: Depress and hold the rotary GROUND BALANCE mult-functon
swtch and repeatedly pump the search col up and down 3cm - 10cm (1 - 4") above
the ground untl detector emts a “beep” sound.
If ALL METAL mode s selected, adjust the THRESHOLD to a level where you can stll
hear the small nugget sgnals. If the metal detector receves a lot of ground nose n
the ALL METAL mode causng a dsrupton n the threshold's stablty, gradually
ncrease SAT value untl metal detector stablzes.
Mask/elmnaton of undesrable targets: When usng dscrmnaton modes (DISC.1 or
DISC.2) you can elmnate (Mask) the metal detector response to undesrable targets
by adjustng the DISC. FILTER value. As an example, f you are searchng a trashy area
flled wth undesrable ferrous objects (nals) and would lke to elmnate (Mask) the
detector response for the undesrable target, smply sweep the detector over the
target notng the response. Whle sweepng the detector over the target, gradually
adjust the DISC.FILTER whle contnung to sweep the detector untl the Au GOLD
FINDER s no longer emttng a response tone when sweepng over the target.
Senstvty: Increasng detector senstvty provdes greater detecton depth but also
ncreases the potental nstablty of the detector due to hgh mneralzaton, electrcal,
rado frequency (RF) or electromagnetc nterference. Reduce senstvty when local
envronment or mneralzaton causes excessve nose, nstablty, overload and/or
nterferes wth the optmal performance of the detector.
Tone Famlarzaton: Testng the detector wth varous metal targets usng DISC.1 and
DISC.2 s useful for learnng the relatonshp between tone and specfc targets.
The Au GOLD FINDER operates on the moton prncple: If the search col s not
movng, the Au GOLD FINDER wll not detect targets even f the col s drectly over a
metal target. Sweep the search col alternately rght and left mantanng level col at
approxmately 5cm (2") dstance above the ground. Sweep speed should be 1.5 - 2
seconds (sde to sde). Sweepng the detector faster or slower than recommended
sweep speed wll notably dmnsh the performance of the detector.
