PRECAUTIONS
► Au GOLD FINDER s a state-of-the-art electronc metal detector. Please read the User
Manual before you assemble or operate the metal detector.
IMPORTANT: Do not store the detector and search col under extremely low and hgh
temperatures for extended perods.
► Detector s IP54 complant. Do not mmerse the detector (except for the search col) n
water.
► Protect the detector aganst mpacts durng normal use. For shppng, carefully place
detector n orgnal carton and secure wth shock resstant packagng.

Au GOLD FINDER metal detector may only be dsassembled and repared by Nokta
Authorzed Servce Centers. Unauthorzed dsassembly / ntruson nto the metal detector
control housng for any reason vods the warranty.

Loosen the twst lock on upper s-shaft before
mountng the md-shaft to the upper shaft. Press
down the pn n md-shaft, engage the peces
together by nsertng md-shaft nto upper s-shaft
beng careful to algn pn n shaft wth algnment
hole n upper s-shaft. Slghtly rotate md-shaft
durng nserton untl pn clcks nto place n upper
s-shaft algnment hole and tghten the twst lock.
Twst lock need only be hand tght to engage.
To attach the system box to the upper shaft, nsert
the thumb-screw through the hole. Then, place the
thumb-screw n threaded mount pont (threaded
bronze plug) on undersde of system box and
frmly tghten.
Insert the washers on the lower shaft yoke.
Carefully nsert the lower shaft yoke between
search col mount tabs. Insert non-metallc lever
bolt through col mount tabs. Install and tghten
non-metallc wnged nut onto the threaded lever
bolt and securely tghten.
Loosen the twst lock on md-shaft before
mountng the md-shaft to the lower shaft. Press
down the pn n lower shaft, engage the peces
together by nsertng lower shaft nto md-shaft
beng careful to algn pn n shaft wth algnment
hole n md-shaft. Slghtly rotate lower shaft durng
nserton untl pn clcks nto place n md-shaft
algnment hole and tghten the twst lock. Twst
lock need only be hand tght to engage. To adjust
length of metal detector shaft, smply loosen the
md-shaft twst lock and depress lower shaft sprng
tab. Smultaneously rotate lower shaft slghtly and
shorten or extend to lower shaft to desred length,
re-algn sprng tab nto desred algnment hole and
retghten md-shaft twst lock.
Carefully spool the search col cable (do not twst
or stretch) onto the lower and md-shafts. Insert
the cable connector nto the system box nput
socket and secure by tghtenng the nut. Do not
pull on cable when removng col cable connector
from System Box.
Insert armrest strap through ts slot as shown n
the fgure. Adjust armrest poston by loosenng
fasteners and sldng armrest forward / rearward to
desred poston and retghten fasteners.

1. Before startng, you wll need:
A. Au GOLD FINDER System Box
B. Adjustable Web Belt
C. Web Belt wth Velcro end
D. Au GOLD FINDER Shaft Assembly wth Col
attached.
2. Begn by placng Au GOLD FINDER System
Box on flat surface wth Control Panel facng
away from you undersde up. Next, nsert Web
Belt wth Velcro end (C) through belt loops
molded nto Au GOLD FINDER System Box.
NOTE: Rght handed User should route belt
left to rght wth Velcro sde up; Left handed
User should route belt rght to left wth Velcro
sde up.
3. Insert Web Belt wth Velcro end (C) through
the nylon belt rng on end of Adjustable Web
Belt (B) so that web belt adjustment slde s
facng down. Next, center nylon belt rng on
Belt (B) between male and female Velcro pads
on Belt (C) and fold/secure Velcro end of Belt
(C) to Velcro pad Belt (C).
4. Web Belt adjustment slde allows belt
length adjustment to ft User preference.

6. Snap Web Belt Buckle ends together. Make
fnal web belt length adjustments as necessary
to sut User preference.
7. Insert Au GOLD FINDER Col Cable through
Web Belt Loop whch should be postoned
on Web Belt sde opposte Au GOLD FINDER
System Box adjacent to Belt Buckle.
8. Insert Au GOLD FINDER Col Cable through
Flexble Belt Loop whch s sewn nto Web
Belt and located adjacent to Web Belt Buckle

9. Pull approxmately 14”of Au GOLD FINDER
Col Cable through the Flexble Belt Loop and
attach Col Cable Connector nto System Box
Cable Connector. Ensure Connectors are
properly algned and hand-tghten.
NOTE: Be sure to have enough Col Cable
extendng through Flexble Belt Loop.

Battery Details
The Au GOLD FINDER s suppled wth four AA Alkalne batteres.
Twst to remove the battery compartment cover (threaded rng/dsc and AA battery
holder. Insert the batteres nto battery holder. Ensure batteres are nstalled properly (+
postve / - negatve). Renstall battery holder nto System Box and secure wth threaded
rng/dsc untl hand tght. Cauton: Do not over tghten threaded rng.
The Au GOLD FINDER wll operate optmally for approxmately 25-30 hours wth the use
of qualty, fully charged AA batteres. Use of lesser qualty AA batteres may reduce tme
detector optmally performs. Cauton: Do not use camera batteres or 3x/9x lthum
batteres as they may damage the detector and vod the warranty.
Qualty AA Alkalne batteres are recommended for the best performance. Qualty N-MH
rechargeable batteres can be used also. Rechargeable batteres wth hgher mAh
(capacty) ratngs offer extended operatng tmes than batteres wth lower mAh ratng.
NOTE: Rechargeable AA batteres are 1.2v and Alkalne AA batteres are 1.5v. Optmal
performance of detector s drectly related to qualty and charge of batteres. Detector
optmally performs wth qualty 1.5v Alkalne AA batteres. Do not mx batteres. All
batteres nstalled should be the same type/ratng to ensure optmal performance of
metal detector.
Battery Status and Low Level Battery Warnng
Battery status/warnng: Upon ntal start up, the Au GOLD FINDER wll emt a number of
beeps to ndcate the battery status. Battery status/warnng conssts of fve (5) levels wth
fve (5) representng fully charged and one (1) representng nearly depleted charge status.
Detector wll emt fve (5) beeps to ndcate fully charged batteres, four (4), three (3), two
(2) beeps to ndcate dmshng charge and one (1) beep f the batteres are low. When the
batteres are approachng full depleton, the detector wll start emttng contnuous beeps
at short ntervals ndcatng an mmedate need to change the batteres.

Assemble the detector per nstructons on page 1.
Insert the batteres correctly (+/- polarty).
Rotate the Off/Volume swtch clockwse to turn on the metal detector. Ths swtch also
adjusts the volume. Immedately after turnng detector on, the metal detector wll
emt beep(s) ndcatng the battery lfe status.
Select the Mode.
Adjust the DISC. FILTER, SENSITIVITY and SAT/MASK swtches to ther default
postons (hghlghted numbers) on the control panel.
Auto ground balance: Depress and hold the rotary GROUND BALANCE mult-functon
swtch and repeatedly pump the search col up and down 3cm - 10cm (1 - 4") above
the ground untl detector emts a “beep” sound.
If ALL METAL mode s selected, adjust the THRESHOLD to a level where you can stll
hear the small nugget sgnals. If the metal detector receves a lot of ground nose n
the ALL METAL mode causng a dsrupton n the threshold's stablty, gradually
ncrease SAT value untl metal detector stablzes.
Mask/elmnaton of undesrable targets: When usng dscrmnaton modes (DISC.1 or
DISC.2) you can elmnate (Mask) the metal detector response to undesrable targets
by adjustng the DISC. FILTER value. As an example, f you are searchng a trashy area
flled wth undesrable ferrous objects (nals) and would lke to elmnate (Mask) the
detector response for the undesrable target, smply sweep the detector over the
target notng the response. Whle sweepng the detector over the target, gradually
adjust the DISC.FILTER whle contnung to sweep the detector untl the Au GOLD
FINDER s no longer emttng a response tone when sweepng over the target.
Senstvty: Increasng detector senstvty provdes greater detecton depth but also
ncreases the potental nstablty of the detector due to hgh mneralzaton, electrcal,
rado frequency (RF) or electromagnetc nterference. Reduce senstvty when local
envronment or mneralzaton causes excessve nose, nstablty, overload and/or
nterferes wth the optmal performance of the detector.
Tone Famlarzaton: Testng the detector wth varous metal targets usng DISC.1 and
DISC.2 s useful for learnng the relatonshp between tone and specfc targets.
The Au GOLD FINDER operates on the moton prncple: If the search col s not
movng, the Au GOLD FINDER wll not detect targets even f the col s drectly over a
metal target. Sweep the search col alternately rght and left mantanng level col at
approxmately 5cm (2") dstance above the ground. Sweep speed should be 1.5 - 2
seconds (sde to sde). Sweepng the detector faster or slower than recommended
sweep speed wll notably dmnsh the performance of the detector.

Search Modes
Search Modes: The Au GOLD FINDER has three (3) search modes, each adapted to
dfferng ground condtons and target types. Search modes are ALL METAL, DISC.1 FAST,
and DISC.2 DEEP. You can easly swtch between the modes by usng the MODE selector
swtch. For a more detaled descrpton of these modes, please read the followng
explanatons for each of these mode settngs carefully.
ALL METAL s the deepest detecton mode. Dfferent than the dscrmnaton modes, ths
mode features a threshold tone whch s contnuously heard n the background.
ALL METAL mode detects all targets (metal, mneralzed rocks, etc.) and provdes a sngle
target tone for any target detected. When ALL METAL mode s selected, the detector does
not dscrmnate between dfferng target types. The volume and the tone ncreases n
ptch as the col s moved closer to the target.
The default values for DISC.FILTER, SENSITIVITY and SAT wll provde the best
performance for a varety of ground mneralzaton condtons. Fne tune (adjust) these
settngs to account for varatons ground condtons for each locaton beng detected.
ALL METAL Mode
DISC modes have common performance features. They dscrmnate varyng metal
targets, but perform dfferently based on ground condtons n the area beng detected as
descrbed below:
IMPORTANT: When usng DISC.1 FAST and DISC.2 DEEP, senstvty level must be properly
adjusted so that the detector s slent when no metal s present under movng col. If you
hear cracklng sound n DISC modes, the SENSITIVITY s adjusted too hgh and must be
gradually reduced untl no sound s heard.
No Threshold wll be heard when usng DISC.1 FAST and DISC.2 DEEP. The Au GOLD
FINDER wll provde audble response only when target s detected.
Discrimination Modes (DISC.1 FAST / DISC.2 DEEP)
DISC.1 FAST s a 2-tone dscrmnaton mode desgned for use n gold felds wth hgh
mneralzaton or sgnfcant quanttes of conductve hot rocks. DISC.1 FAST provdes
slghtly less depth performance but sgnfcantly mproved target detecton and recovery
speeds n trashy and/or hghly mneralzed sols when compared to the other modes.
DISC.1 FAST Mode
DISC.2 DEEP s a 2-tone dscrmnaton mode desgned for use n gold felds wth less
mneralzaton and/or mnmal quanttes of conductve hot rocks. DISC.2 DEEP provdes
ncreased depth performance and slower recovery speeds whch are acceptable n
mnmally mneralzed sols when compared to the other modes.
In DISC.1 FAST and DISC.2 DEEP modes, the Au GOLD FINDER wll produce a low tone for
ron and postve hot rocks. For all other metals, detector wll produce a sngle tone whch
ncreases n volume and ptch as the col approaches the target.

NOTE: Nuggets under hot rocks may generate a low tone (ron tone) and ths s totally
normal.
RECOMMENDATION: Famlarze yourself wth the Au GOLD FINDER audo tones by
testng dfferent metal targets and hot rocks pror to use n the feld.
RECOMMENDATION: If you dg a target sgnal and locate and remove a hot rock, rescan
hole to ensure there s no small gold nugget remanng.
Functons as the On/Off and Volume control for the AU Gold Fnder.
ON/OFF / VOLUME Switch
Used to select each of the three search modes.
MODE Toggle Switch
SENSITIVITY drectly affects the detectng performance (depth) of the Au GOLD FINDER.
SENSITIVITY range s '1-10'. Default SENSITIVITY s seven '7' whch s clearly marked on the
Control Panel and should be adjusted accordng to envronmental and ground condtons.
Mnor adjustments to SENSITIVITY may also be effectve n elmnatng or reducng
detector nstablty due to electromagnetc sgnals and hgh ground mneralzaton.
SENSITIVITY
DISC FILTER s used to elmnate undesrable targets when DISC1. FAST and DISC2. DEEP
modes are selected. The default settng for DISC FILTER s ten ‘10’ and s clearly marked on
the Control Panel. Adjust DISC FILTER as needed to elmnate unwanted target responses
(nals, cons, etc.).
NOTE: DISC.FILTER s functonal n the DISC.1 and DISC.2 modes only. DISC FILTER s
non-functonal when ALL METAL mode s selected.
DISC FILTER enables elmnaton of response to undesrable targets. DISC FILTER provdes
User wth the ablty to reject mneralzed rocks (hot rocks) and undesrable targets such as
ron and fol whch often nterfere wth detector response.
DISC FILTER ranges between 0-40. The factory default value (optmal startng pont) s ten
'10' whch s clearly marked on Control Panel.
To use DISC.FILTER, frst GROUND BALANCE the Au GOLD FINDER. Select one of the
Dscrmnaton modes (DISC.1 FAST, DISC.2 DEEP). Next, set the DISC FILTER to '0', then
sweep the col over the undesrable target whle smultaneously and slowly turnng the
DISC FILTER knob clockwse untl no response s heard.

NOTE: Decreasng SENSITIVITY wll often resolve col overloadng due to hghly
mneralzed ground.
RECOMMENDATION: Revew Senstvty, Threshold, SAT and MASK sectons on pages
15-16.
THRESHOLD dal s used to adjust the background hum sound commonly referred to as
the threshold sound. THRESHOLD tone s contnuously heard when Au GOLD FINDER s
operatng n the ALL METAL mode.
THRESHOLD Dial
SAT / MASK dal s a multfuncton swtch controllng SAT settngs when ALL METAL
mode s selected, and alternately controllng MASK settngs when DISC.1 FAST or DISC.2
DEEP are selected. Default poston for both SAT and MASK are calbrated at sx '6' and are
clearly marked on the Control Panel. Default settng of sx '6' should be used and only
adjusted as descrbed on pages 15-16 of ths manual.
iSAT / iMASK Dial
The TONE / LED toggle swtch provdes the User the ablty to choose between
audo/vsual (sngle tone/LED) response and audo (mult-tone) response as follows:
-1 TONE LED ON provdes User wth sngle tone target response and smultaneous LED
dsplay of FERROUS (Red LED) or GOLD NON-FERROUS (Green LED) target dentfcaton;
TONE / LED Toggle Switch
Optmal performance usng ALL METAL mode requres a stable THRESHOLD.
Changes n ground mneralzaton and sol structure may cause a rse or fall n the
background hum. A dsrupton of THRESHOLD stablty may result n loss of target
response to certan metals such as small gold nuggets. You should only adjust SAT
to mantan the steadness of the THRESHOLD tone. Adjustment drectly affects the
detector recovery speed and THRESHOLD stablty.
SAT conssts of ten levels. The default level s sx '6' and s clearly marked on the
Control Panel. It s recommended that SAT be ncreased when detector s used n
hgh mneralzaton and decreased n low mneralzaton. For more detals, please
read SENSITIVITY, THRESHOLD, SAT and MASK secton on pages 15-16.
iSAT
MASK s used to elmnate falsng (false sgnals) caused by ground mneralzaton or
hot rocks when searchng n dscrmnaton modes. Default MASK settng s sx '6'. At
level one '1', MASK s turned off.
For more detals, please read SENSITIVITY, THRESHOLD, SAT and MASK secton on
pages 15-16.
iMASK
DISC FILTER s used to elmnate undesrable targets when DISC1. FAST and DISC2. DEEP
modes are selected. The default settng for DISC FILTER s ten ‘10’ and s clearly marked on
the Control Panel. Adjust DISC FILTER as needed to elmnate unwanted target responses
(nals, cons, etc.).

NOTE: Usng the Au GOLD FINDER n 1 TONE wll enable you to hear smaller gold nugget
sgnals more clearly.
-2 TONE LED OFF provdes User wth two tone target response. Low tone for ron (ferrous)
or hot rocks and a hgher tone smlar to ALL METAL target response whch ndcates gold
and non-ferrous metal targets.
NOTE: The dscrmnaton LEDs are nactve n ths poston and wll not lght up wth
target dentfcaton.
BOOST amplfes the weak detecton response for very small or very deep targets
ncreasng the detecton probablty for even the most dffcult targets. BOOST should be
only be used on a temporary or as-needed bass n hghly mneralzed ground because t
wll amplfy threshold hum, ground nose and may contrbute to ncreased detector
falsng.
NOTE: BOOST works n ALL METAL mode only.
BOOST
Use of TRACKING automatcally adjusts GROUND BALANCE to compensate for changes n
ground mneralzaton whle detectng.
RECOMMENDATION: Revew the followng GROUND BALANCE procedures.

GROUND BALANCE
Automatc GROUND BALANCE may be used n all search modes and s performed as
follows:
1. Perform Automatc GROUND BALANCE procedure n locaton where there s no metal
present;
2.Whle keepng search col parallel to the ground, push and hold GROUND BALANCE dal
and begn pumpng the search col up and down repeatedly from about 15 - 20cm (6''- 8'')
above the ground down to 3 - 6cm (1''-2”) above the ground mantanng smooth, even
movement of col;
3.Contnue pumpng col untl detector emts a beep tone whch ndcates completon of
GROUND BALANCE sequence. Dependng on ground condtons, t typcally takes about
2-4 pumps for the ground balance sequence to complete.
4. In the event GROUND BALANCE sequence descrbed above does not result n
completon beep tone, please move to another nearby locaton and retry GROUND
BALANCE procedure. Incomplete GROUND BALANCE sequence may occur f there s metal
under the search col, the ground s too conductve (mneralzed) or n rare cases f ground
s non-mneralzed.
NOTE: The Au GOLD FINDER wll contnue to ground balance and produce a beep tone
for as long as you keep the dal pressed.
RECOMMENDATION: To ensure proper GROUND BALANCE, t s recommended that the
GROUND BALANCE sequence descrbed above be performed 2-3 tmes pror to use of
detector.
Automatic GROUND BALANCE
Manual GROUND BALANCE should be used when Au GOLD FINDER wll not complete
Automatc GROUND BALANCE sequence.
Condtons whch may nterfere wth, or not sutable for the Automatc GROUND BALANCE
sequence to successfully complete nclude wet beach sands, sols/sands contanng alkal,
salt or brne water, lands wth hgh waste metal content (dump stes), recently plowed
felds, recently fertlzed felds, hghly mneralzed grounds and grounds wth very low
mneralzaton.
NOTE: Manual GROUND BALANCE requres a skll whch develops over tme through
practce and experence. Once mastered, t becomes the preferred method for
professonal detectorsts.
Manual GROUND BALANCE
GROUND BALANCE can be performed three ways n Au GOLD FINDER: 1) Auto, 2) Manual
and 3) Trackng. GROUND BALANCE s a mult-functon dal (rotary and push) used to
perform ether Automatc or Manual GROUND BALANCE. Push and hold for settng Auto
GROUND BALANCE. Rotate to fne tune Manual GROUND BALANCE. The thrd GROUND
BALANCE opton s TRACKING whch s selected usng the TRACKING toggle swtch.

1. Select ALL METAL mode;
2. Perform Manual GROUND BALANCE procedure n locaton where there s no metal
present;

acton notng any changes n sound durng ether the rasng or lowerng of col. If the
sound ncreases as the col s rased away from the ground, the GROUND BALANCE value
s too low and should be gradually ncreased untl the THRESHOLD sound stablzes wth
no notceable dfference n sound as col s rased and lowered. If the sound ncreases as
the col s lowered towards the ground, the GROUND BALANCE value s too hgh and
should be gradually lowered untl the THRESHOLD sound stablzes wth no notceable
dfference n sound.
The GROUND BALANCE dal turns clockwse and counter-clockwse nfntely. We
recommend that you turn the GROUND BALANCE knob slowly to be able to follow mnute
changes n the ground response. Agan, you wll gradually gan skll at Manual GROUND
BALANCE through experence.
NOTE: GROUND BALANCE may not completely elmnate ground nterference n some
areas. In these rare nstances, carefully lsten to the sounds produced when movng the
search col towards and away from the ground to check f the GROUND BALANCE s
correct (.e. slght sound s consstent when movng col towards and away from ground).
If sounds are consstent, GROUND BALANCE s set properly.
RECOMMENDATION: Experenced detectorsts usng the Au GOLD FINDER when
manually adjustng the GROUND BALANCE settng to provde slght postve response
(very weak but audble sound when movng the search col towards the ground). Ths
method may produce favorable results for experenced Users n certan felds where small
gold nuggets are searched for.
Directions for Manual GROUND BALANCE:

NOTE: Au GOLD FINDER may produce smlar responses when detectng over
sgnfcantly changng ground mneralzaton, hot rocks or targets. In order to dentfy a
target response, smply sweep the search col over the target locaton. If the response
dsspates, fluctuates or changes, detector s lkely respondng to changng ground
condtons (mneralzaton or hot rocks). If the detected response remans constant, t s
lkely a qualty target and worth nvestgatng (dggng).
IMPORTANT: Ensure that TRACKING s turned off when conductng ar tests. Falure to turn
off TRACKING durng ar testng wll result n detector contnually performng GROUND
BALANCE sequence durng ar test and result n sgnfcant depth loss as you resume
detectng.
Important Details Concerning Ground Balance
GROUND BALANCE
Automatc GROUND BALANCE may fal to sequence n the followng condtons:
- Metal under search col when attemptng Automatc GROUND BALANCE;
- Ground s too conductve;
- Ground mneralzaton s too low.
Should Automatc GROUND BALANCE sequence fal to complete, please do the followng:
- Change GROUND BALANCE locaton, repeat Automatc GROUND BALANCE sequence;
- Change to Manual GROUND BALANCE f changng locaton does not allow Automatc
GROUND BALANCE sequence to successfully complete;
Should Automatc and Manual GROUND BALANCE attempts fal, contnue detectng
wthout GROUND BALANCE as follows:
- Restart Au GOLD FINDER;
- Sweep search col over ground lstenng carefully for changes n tone as you
sweep;
- If you hear a sound as you sweep col over the ground, swtch Au GOLD FINDER
to ether DISC.1 FAST or DISC.2 DEEP;
- Adjust DISC.FILTER gradually whle sweepng col to elmnate any sound;
- Once sound has been elmnated, proceed to use Au GOLD FINDER.

IMPORTANT: SENSITIVITY, THRESHOLD, SAT, MASK are crtcal settngs and must be
adjusted properly to ensure nose-free optmal detector performance. Factory default
postons for each of these settngs are marked on Control Panel and offer the User a
baselne startng pont for detector use n the feld. These settngs should be adjusted
accordng to local ground and envronmental condtons n order to maxmze detecton
performance.
SENSITIVITY, THRESHOLD, iSAT, iMASK
In ALL METAL mode, THRESHOLD (contnuous background hummng sound) should be
adjusted to be ‘mnmally audble’. Improperly adjusted THRESHOLD can mask the sgnal
of smaller and deeper targets (due to ther low audble response) as they are lost n the
THRESHOLD hum.
IMPORTANT: GROUND BALANCE the Au GOLD FINDER pror to detectng n ALL METAL
mode. Falure to properly GROUND BALANCE the detector when usng ALL METAL mode
wll result n falsng and/or dsrupton n THRESHOLD stablty as the detector responds to
ground mneralzaton whch would otherwse be cancelled out wth proper GROUND
BALANCE.
SAT adjusts the speed that the detector recovers ts THRESHOLD hum and negates the
effects of mneralzed sols.
IMPORTANT: SAT adjustments should be carefully appled to attan detector stablty as
any ncrease n SAT results n loss of detecton depth.
RECOMMENDATION: Should hghly mneralzed condtons cause detector falsng and/or
dsrupton n THRESHOLD hum, lower the SENSITIVITY to regan detector stablty. Ths
should be accomplshed pror to ncreasng SAT. Should you be unable to regan stablty
by reducng SENSITIVITY below default seven '7', reset SENSITIVITY to default poston
pror to ncreasng SAT.
In low mneralzaton condtons, decrease SAT and slow col sweep speed to enhance
detector detecton depth.
In ALL METAL mode, SENSITIVITY behaves smlar to THRESHOLD wth one mportant
dfference, havng too much SENSITIVITY can result n falsng and/or poppng sounds.
-Detector s calbrated to be very senstve to small gold targets;
-Ground mneralzaton may cause detector overload;
-Adjust SENSITIVITY to a pont where detector s unstable and reduce slghtly to
optmze SENSITIVITY settng wthout negatvely mpactng detecton

In DISCRIMINATION modes, THRESHOLD s not functonal. SENSITIVITY s used to fne tune
detector stablty for changes n ground mneralzaton and drectly affects detecton
depth and nose free detector operaton.
SENSITIVITY fne tunng (DISCRINATION modes):
- Set SENSITIVITY to default settng ‘7’;
- Set DISC FILTER to default settng ‘10’;
- Complete GROUND BALANCE procedure;
- Sweep search col level above ground wth no metal present at 3 - 6 cm (1''- 2”)
as f detectng;
- Reduce SENSITIVITY gradually to elmnate any falsng and/or poppng whle
sweepng search col.
MASK elmnates the effects (falsng and/or poppng) whch are present when detectng
over hot rocks and/or hghly mneralzed ground whle usng DISCRIMINATION modes.
The calbrated range of MASK s‘1 - 6’('1' MASK Off - '6' MASK Max). There s no change n
MASK settngs '6 - 10'.
Sensitivity in Discrimination Modes
MASK s used to elmnate or mnmze false sgnals resultng from detectng hghly
mneralzed sols or hot rocks when usng DISCRIMATION modes.
MASK has a functonng range between ‘1’ and ‘6’. Selecton of MASK levels above ‘6’ (.e.
‘7’ - ‘10’) are factory calbrated at level ‘6’ and wll not further mprove maskng.
MASK default settng s level ‘6’ as ndcated on Control Panel. Ths provdes maxmum
maskng of ground nterference often experenced n hghly mneralzed sols. Selecton of
level ‘6’ wll provde User wth the ablty to sgnfcantly mnmze or elmnate detector
falsng (false sgnals) whch often occurs when detectng over hghly mneralzed ground.
IMPORTANT: Default MASK settng of ‘6’ wll result n the nablty for the Au GOLD
FINDER to detect and respond to very conductve metals such as copper.
RECOMMENDATION: Au GOLD FINDER s extremely senstve to conductve metals such
as copper, mcro-jewelry and cons. When usng the Au GOLD FINDER to detect for
mneralzed copper, mcro-jewelry, cons and other hghly conductve metals, t s
recommended that you set MASK to ‘1’.

Au GOLD FINDER detector has an extremely fast recovery speed whch s necessary for
detectng n hghly mneralzed grounds, areas wth hot rocks and/or trashy areas.
To maxmze the advantages of the fast recovery speed of the Au GOLD FINDER, you
should make wde, sweepng passes of col over the ground beng searched nstead and
mnmze narrow, quck sde-to-sde sweeps.
Sweep speed of the Au GOLD FINDER s extremely mportant for accurate target
dentfcaton and response. It s recommended that a sngle sweep (left to rght) take
between 1 and 1.5 seconds wth a complete left-rght-left sweep lastng not less than 2
seconds.
Ensure col s mantaned level over the ground throughout entre sweep keep col
approxmately 2”over the ground avodng contact wth rocks and ground.
Sweep Speed and Target Identification
The Au GOLD FINDER s exceptonally senstve to very small, fne gold targets.
IMPORTANT: Large targets and targets near ground surface can result n audble overload.
Ths overload tone resembles a contnuous sren sound. When you hear ths tone, smply
rase the col and contnue sweepng the area. Ths wll allow the Au GOLD FINDER to
recover from overload, process target and provde proper response.
Large or Near-Surface Targets
Falsng s the detector response to undesrable effects such as hgh ground mneralzaton,
hot rocks and electromagnetc nterference ncludng use of detector n close proxmty to
other metal detectors.
Most falsng can be controlled by smply reducng SENSITIVITY and/or THRESHOLD values
untl falsng n mnmzed or elmnated. Please read and become famlar wth nformaton
provded n ths manual for adjustment of GROUND BALANCE, SENSITIVITY, THRESHOLD,
SAT and MASK.
Another type of falsng s the detecton of an apparent desrable target wth no target
located. Ths type of falsng s very common when detectors are used n areas contanng
rustng or corrodng ron, nals, etc. n the sol. The corroson of ferrous metals (oxdaton)
creates a ‘halo’of oxdes around an undesrable target (.e. nal) resultng n false or falsng
response. The object may have totally decomposed nto an oxdzed state and when
attemptng to dg the target, nothng s found. You do not want to elmnate ths type of
falsng as you may be maskng small, fne desrable targets.
Detector Falsing
Hot Rocks: It s mportant to understand that mneralzed stones, rocks, cavtes n the
ground beng searched and/or mneralzaton of the ground tself can sgnfcantly
nfluence Au GOLD FINDER target response.
