BEFORE USING YOUR NEW HEATER

To prevent injury to the user or other people and property damage,
the following instructions must be followed.
•Use this appliance only as described in this Use & Care Guide. As with any
electrical appliance, the instructions aim to cover as many eventualities as
possible. Caution and common sense should be used when operating this
heater.
•This heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let bare skin touch
hot surfaces. Keep combustible materials, such as furniture, pillows,
bedding, papers, clothes and curtains at least 3 ft.(0.9 m) from the front
and top of the heater and keepthem away from the sides and rear. Keep
the rear grille away from walls or drapes so as not to block the air intake.
•Extreme caution and reasonable supervision is necessary when any heater
is used by or near children, invalids or pets and whenever the heater is left
operating and unattended.
•Always unplug heater when not in use. To disconnect, grip plug and pull
from wall outlet. Never yank on cord.
•Do not operate any heater with a damaged cord or plug or after the
heater malfunctions or has been dropped or damaged in any manner.
Return heater to an authorized service facility for examination, electrical or
mechanical adjustment or repair.
•Do not use outdoors. This product is intended for normal household use
only.
•This heater is not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry areas and similar
indoor locations. Never locate heater where it may fall into a bathtub or
other water container.
•Do not run cord under carpeting. Do not cover cord with throw rugs,
runners or the like. Arrange cord away from traffic area where it will not
be tripped over. Route the cord so that it will not be walked on, or
pinched by furniture.
•To disconnect the heater, turn controls to “OFF”, then remove the plug
from outlet.
•Connect to properly polarized outlets only.
•Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust
opening as this may cause an electric shock, fire or damage tothe heater.
•To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any
manner. Do not use on soft surfaces, like a bed, where openings may
become blocked.
•A heater has hot or arcing or sparking pads inside. Do not use it in areas
where gasoline, paint or flammable liquids are used or stored.

•Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any other use not
recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, injury to
persons or other damage to property.
•To prevent overload and blown fuses, be sure that no other appliance is
plugged intothe same outlet (receptacle) or into another outlet (receptacle)
wired intothe same circuit.
•This appliance is equipped with a polarized plug: one blade is wider than
the other. The plug will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug
does not at first fit in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit,
contact a qualified electrician to install a polarized outlet. Do not change
the plug in any way.
WARNING: TO PREVENT ELECTRICAL SHOCK, MATCH WIDE BLADE OF
PLUG TO WIDE SLOT OF OUTLET, AND FULLY INSERT.
•It is normal for the heater’s plug and cord to feel warm tothe touch. A plug
or cord which becomes hot tothe touch or becomes distorted in shape may
be a result of a worn electrical outlet. Worn outlets or receptacles should
be replaced prior to further use of the heater. Plugging heater into a worn
outlet/ receptacle may result in overheating of the power cord or fire.
•Ensure the heater is on a stable, secure surface to eliminate the potential of
tipping it over.
•We do not recommend use of an extension cord as it may overheat and
cause a risk of fire. However, if you have to use an extension cord, the
cord should be No.14 AWG minimum size and rated not less than 1875
watts, and has to be used only for supplying power tothis heater. The cord
should be as short as possible (long cords coiled up can overheat, as well
as cause tripping accidents) and not used to supply power with more than
one appliance at atime.
•Be sure that the plug is fully inserted into appropriate receptacle. Please
remember that receptacles also deteriorate due to aging and continuous
use: check periodically for signs of overheating or deformations evidenced
by the plug. Should this occur, do not use the receptacle and CALL your
electrician.
•Check that neither the appliance nor the power cable has been damaged
in any way during transportation.
•Make sure that no pieces of polystyrene or other packaging material have
been left between one element of the appliance and another. It may be
necessary to pass over the appliance with a vacuum cleaner.
•When switching on the appliance for the first time, you may notice a slight
odor which is normal with new electrical appliances. Allow odor to
dissipate by running appliance at full power for about ten minutes. Make
sure that the room in which the appliance is located is well ventilated
during this operation.

•This heater draws 10.0 amps during operation. To prevent overloading a
circuit, do not plug the heater into a circuit that already has other
appliances working.
•Do not run in locations when the heater will be left unattended for long
periods of time. (For example - in an unoccupied summer cottage).
•Do not use attachments. They are not recommended.

To operate, connect to a properly polarized outlet only. Match wide blade of
plug to wide slot and fully insert. Be sure to plug into a 120V AC, 60Hz outlet.
NOTE: THEHEATER WILL NOT OPERATE UNTIL THE POWER CORD OF THE
UNIT IS PROPERLY PLUGGED INTO A POLARIZED OUTLET AND POWERED
ON (SEE SECTION ON POLARIZED PLUGS UNDER IMPORTANT
SAFEGUARDS).

THERMOSTAT
This heater is equipped with a thermostat to control the room temperature. To
increase room temperature, turn the dial clockwise.
POWER INDICATOR LIGHT
When the power cord is plugged intothe power outlet, the power indicator
light will be illuminated.
BLUE LED LIGHT
When the power indicator is on but the temperature setting is lower than
ambient temperature, the Blue LED light will be illuminated.
RED LED LIGHT
When the power indicator is on but the temperature setting is higher than
ambient temperature, the Red LED light will be illuminated.
HEAT SETTING
Turn the dial towards symbol to set higher room temperature, turn the
dial completely tothe right to get maximum heat setting. Use this heat setting
for faster warm-up of a room or during colder weather. Once the room is
comfortable, slowly rotate the thermostat dial counterclockwise until you hear a
click and the red LED light is switched to blue LED light. The thermostat will now
maintain the temperature by cycling the heater ON or OFF.
Turn the dial counterclockwise and completely tothe symbol
to power heater OFF.

HEATER SAFETY FEATURES
Safety Grille The heater is equipped with a safety grille at the front to protect
the heating element. This part of the heater can get extremely hot. Do not
block this grille as it could cause fire.
Tip-Over Switch The heater will be automatically shut offby an internal switch
when it is tipped over. If this occurs, turn the heater OFF, unplug it, put the
heater back to upright position and plug it back in.

Before any cleaning, make sure that:
1. The heater is turned OFF.
2. Disconnect power supply at source by removing plug from power outlet.
3. Wait 30 minutes to let the heater cool down.
4. Once cooled down, your heater is now ready for cleaning.
Regular Cleaning:
1. Do not use cleaning liquid or chemical sprays on the unit.
2. To clean the exterior, use a clean, soft and lightly damp cloth to gently
wipe offthe dirt from the surface of the unit. Be sure not to wet the
heating element and the switches. Allow the unit to dry completely before
using it.
3. The most common cause of overheating is deposits of dust or fluffentering
the heater. Interior dust can often be removed by using a vacuum cleaner
with a crevice tool attachment.
4. Open the filter cover by pressing and pulling back the lock tab, take the
filter out and wash it thoroughly in water. MAKE SURE THE FILTER IS
COMPLETELY DRY BEFORE PUTTING IT BACK.

WARNING: DO NOT ALLOW WATER TO RUN INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE
HEATER AS THIS COULD CREATE A FIRE OR ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD, OR
DAMAGE THE UNIT.
1. Perform the cleaning procedures described in “CLEANING AND
MAINTENANCE”
2. Wipe all parts dry.
3. Pack the heater in a plastic bag and store it in a cool, dry place.
If your heater fails to operate, follow these procedures before contacting
customer service:

A fin de evitar lesiones al usuario o a otras personas y daños materiales,
es necesario seguir las siguientes instrucciones.
•Utilice este artefacto sólo como se describe en este Manual de Uso y Cuidado.
Como ocurre con cualquier otro artefacto eléctrico, las instrucciones tratan de
cubrir tantas eventualidades como sea posible. Se debe tener cuidado y usar
sentido común al hacer funcionar este calentador.
•Este calentador se calienta cuando está en funcionamiento. Para evitar
quemaduras, no deje que la piel toque las superficies calientes. Guarde los
materiales combustibles, tal como muebles, cojines, ropa de cama, papeles,
ropa y cortinas, por lo menos a 3 pies (0,9 m) de distancia de la parte
delantera y superior del calentador y alejados de los lados y de la parte
trasera. Mantenga la rejilla trasera lejos de la pared y cortinas a fin de no
bloquear la entrada de aire.
•Se necesita tomar precauciones extremas y una supervisión razonable
cuando se utiliza un calentador cerca de niños, personas inválidas o
animales domésticos y siempre que el calentador se deje funcionando y sin
vigilancia.
•Siempre desenchufe el calentador cuando no lo utilice. Para desenchufarlo,
tome el enchufe y desconéctelo del tomacorriente mural. Nunca tire del
cable.
•No haga funcionar un calentador cuyo cable o enchufe esté dañado o
después de que no ha funcionado correctamente, o que se haya volcado o
dañado de alguna manera. Devuelva el calentador a un servicio técnico
autorizado para que lo examine, haga ajustes mecánicos o eléctricos o sea
reparado.
•No lo utilice al aire libre. Este producto ha sido diseñado para ser utilizado
dentro del hogar solamente.
•Este calentador no debe ser utilizado en cuartos de baño, áreas de
lavandería y otras áreas interiores similares. Nunca coloque el calentador
dónde pueda caer dentro de una bañera u otro contenedor de agua.
•No haga pasar el cable bajo una alfombra. No cubra el cable con
alfombras, tapetes, alfombras de pasillo o similares. Coloque el cable lejos
de las zonas de mayor circulación donde no se pueda tropezar en él.
Disponga el cable de manera que no pueda ser pisado, ni aplastado por
muebles.
•Para desenchufar el calentador, ponga los controles en “OFF”, luego retire
el enchufe del tomacorriente.
•Enchufe el calentador solamente en tomacorrientes convenientemente
polarizados.

•No inserte ni permita que penetren cuerpos extraños en las aberturas de
ventilación o escape pues pueden provocar un choque eléctrico, incendio o
dañar el calentador.
•Para impedir un posible incendio, no obstruya de ninguna manera las
entradas o escapes de aire. No lo utilice sobre superficies blandas, tal
como una cama, donde pueden obstruirse las aberturas.
•Un calentador tiene en su interior atenuadores calientes, de formación de
arcos o chispas. No lo utilice en áreas donde se use o almacene gasolina,
pintura o líquidos inflamables.
•Utilice este calentador solamente como se describe en este manual.
Cualquier uso distinto al recomendado por el fabricante puede causar
incendio, choque eléctrico, lesiones personales u otros daños materiales.
•Para impedir sobrecarga o fusibles fundidos, asegúrese de que no haya
otro artefacto enchufado en el mismo tomacorriente (receptáculo) o en otro
tomacorriente (receptáculo) conectado al mismo circuito.
•Este artefacto está equipado con un enchufe polarizado: una clavija es más
ancha que la otra. El enchufe sólo calzará en un tomacorriente polarizado.
Si no calza en el primer intento, inviértalo. Si todavía no calza, solicite a un
electricista calificado que le instale un tomacorriente polarizado. No
modifique el enchufe de ningunamanera.

•Es normal que el enchufe y el cable del calentador se sientan calientes al
tocarlos. Un enchufe o cable que está caliente al tacto o que pierda su
forma puede ser consecuencia de un tomacorriente deteriorado. Los
tomacorrientes o receptáculos dañados deben ser reemplazados antes de
continuar usando el calentador. Si se enchufa el calentador en un
tomacorriente/receptáculo deteriorado puede causar sobrecalentamiento
del cable o un incendio.
•Asegúrese de que el calentador esté sobre una superficie segura y estable,
a fin de eliminar la posibilidad de volcamiento.
•No recomendamos utilizar un cable de extensión ya que puede
sobrecalentarse y causar un riesgo de incendio. No obstante, si debe usar
un cable de extensión, se recomienda el cable de tamaño mínimo No.14
AWG y de una potencia de no menos de 1875 vatios, y debe utilizarse
solamente para suministrar corriente a este calentador. El cable debe ser lo
más corto posible (los cables largos al estar enrollados pueden
sobrecalentarse, y también causar tropiezos) y no debe utilizarse para
suministrar corriente a más de un artefacto a la vez.

•Asegúrese de que el enchufe esté completamente insertado en el
receptáculo adecuado. Recuerde que los receptáculos también puede
deteriorarse con el tiempo y el uso continuo: examínelo periódicamente
para verificar señas de sobrecalentamiento o deformaciones del enchufe. Si
esto ocurre, no utilice el receptáculo y LLAME a su electricista.
•Verifique si el artefacto o el cable de suministro eléctrico han sufrido daño
durante el transporte.
•Asegúrese de que no haya quedado ningún pedazo de poliestireno u otro
material de embalaje entre los elementos del artefacto. Puede ser
necesario limpiar el artefacto con una aspiradora.
•Cuando encienda el artefacto por primera vez, tal vez note un ligero olor
que es normal en todos los artefactos eléctricos nuevos. Deje que el olor se
disipe haciendo funcionar el artefacto a toda potencia durante unos diez
minutos. Asegúrese de que la habitación en la cual se encuentra el
calentador esté bien ventilada durante este procedimiento.
•Este calentador consume 10 amperios durante el funcionamiento. Para
evitar sobrecargar un circuito, no enchufe el calentador en un circuito en el
que ya estén funcionando otros artefactos.
•No lo utilice en lugares en los cuales el calentador quedará desatendido
durante largos períodos de tiempo. (Por ejemplo – en una casa de verano
deshabitada).
•No utilice accesorios. No se recomiendan.

Para su funcionamiento, enchúfelo solamente en un tomacorriente debidamente
polarizado. Haga coincidir la clavija ancha del enchufe con la ranura ancha e
inserte completamente. Asegúrese de enchufarlo en un tomacorriente de 120V
CA, 60Hz.
NOTA: EL CALENTADOR FUNCIONARÁ SOLAMENTE CUANDO EL CABLE DEL

TERMOSTATO
Este calentador está equipado con un termostato para controlar la temperatura
de la habitación. Para aumentar la temperatura de la habitación, gire la esfera
a la derecha.
LUZ INDICADORA DE ENCENDIDO
Cuando el cable del calentador es enchufado en el tomacorriente, se encenderá
la luz indicadora de encendido.
LUZ LED AZUL
Cuando la luz indicadora de encendido está iluminada pero el ajuste de
temperatura es inferior a la temperatura ambiente, se encenderá la luz LED
azul.
LUZ LED ROJA
Cuando la luz indicadora de encendido está iluminada pero el ajuste de
temperatura es superior a la temperatura ambiente, se encenderá la luz LED
roja.
AJUSTES DE CALOR
Gire la esfera hacia el símbolo para aumentar la temperatura de la
habitación, gire la esfera totalmente a la derecha para obtener el ajuste de
calor máximo. Utilice este ajuste para calentar rápidamente una habitación o
durante un tiempo más frío.Una vez que la temperatura de la habitación sea
confortable, gire lentamente la esfera del termostato hacia la izquierda hasta
que escuche un clic y la luz LED roja cambiará a azul. El termostato entonces
mantendrá la temperatura sometiendo el calentador a ciclos de ENCENDIDO o
APAGADO (ON – OFF).
Gire la esfera a la izquierda y completamente hacia el símbolo
para apagar el calentador.

CARACTERÍSTICAS DE SEGURIDAD DEL CALENTADOR
Rejilla de seguridad El calentador está equipado con una rejilla de seguridad
en la parte delantera para proteger el elemento calefactor. Esta pieza del
calentador se calienta extremadamente. No obstruya esta rejilla ya que podría
causar un incendio.
Interruptor de seguridad Cuando se vuelca el artefacto, el calentador se
apagará automáticamente gracias a un interruptor interno. Si eso ocurre,
APAGUE el calentador, desenchúfelo, póngalo de nuevo en posición vertical y
vuelva a enchufarlo.

Antes de limpiar, asegúrese de que:
1. El calentador esté APAGADO (posición OFF).
2. Desconecte el suministro de energía eléctrica retirando el enchufe del
tomacorriente.
3. Espere 30 minutos para que el calentador se enfríe.
4. Una vez que se haya enfriado, el calentador estará listo para su limpieza.
Limpieza Regular:
1. No utilice en el artefacto líquidos de limpieza o aerosoles químicos.
2. Para limpiar el exterior, use un paño limpio, suave y ligeramente
humedecido para retirar la suciedad de la superficie del artefacto.
Asegúrese de no mojar el elemento calefactor ni los interruptores. Espere
hasta que el artefacto se haya secado completamente antes de utilizarlo.
3. La causa más común de sobrecalentamiento es la penetración de polvo o
pelusas al calentador. Generalmente se puede extraer el polvo del
interior utilizando una aspiradora que tenga una boquilla rinconera.
4. Abra la tapa del filtro apretando y tirando de la pestaña de seguridad,
retire el filtro y lávelo bien en agua. ASEGÚRESE DE QUE EL FILTRO ESTÉ
COMPLETAMENTE SECO ANTES DE VOLVER A COLOCARLO EN SU
LUGAR.
ADVERTENCIA: NO PERMITA QUE PENETRE AGUA AL INTERIOR DEL
CALENTADOR, YA QUE PODRÍA PROVOCAR UN INCENDIO O UN CHOQUE
ELÉCTRICO, O ESTROPEAR EL ARTEFACTO.
1. Efectúe los procedimientos de limpieza descritos en la sección “LIMPIEZA
Y MANTENIMIENTO”
2. Seque bien todas las piezas.
3. Guarde el calentador en una bolsa de plástico y almacénelo en un lugar
fresco y seco.

Si su calentador no funciona, siga estos procedimientos antes de ponerse en

KENMORE ONE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
When installed, operated and maintained according to all supplied instructions, if this
appliance fails due to a defect in material and workmanship within one year from the
date of purchase, return it with proof of purchase to any Sears store, Parts & Repair
Service Center or other Kenmore outlet in the United States for free repair or
replacement if repair is unavailable.
This warranty covers ONLY defects in material and workmanship, and will NOT pay for:
1. Expendable items that can wear out from normal use, including but not limited to
filters, belts, light bulbs, and bags.
2. A service technician to instruct the user in correct product installation, operation or
maintenance.
3. A service technician to clean or maintain this product.
4. Damage to or failure of this product ifitis not installed, operated or maintained
according to the all instructions supplied with the product.
5. Damage to or failure of this product resulting from accident, abuse, misuse or use
for other than its intended purpose.
6. Damage to or failure of this product caused by the use of detergents, cleaners,
chemicals or utensils other than those recommended in all instructions supplied with
the product.
7. Damage to or failure of parts or systems resulting from unauthorized modifications
made to this product.
This warranty is void if this appliance is ever used for other than private household
purposes.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which
vary from state to state.

Cuando se instale, opera y se mantenga según todas las instrucciones incluidas, si este
aparato falla dado a un defecto en materials o mano de obra dentro de un año desde
la fecha de compra, devuélvalo con su comprobante de compra a cualquier tienda
Sears, Centro de Piezas y Reparació de Sears u otra tienda de Kenmore en los Estados
Unidos para que sea reparado o reemplazado gratuitamente si no se puede reparar.
Esta garantía cubre los defectos en materials y mano de obra ÚNICAMENTE y NO
pagará por:
1. Piezas fungibles que se pueden desgastar con el uso normal, incluyendo pero sin
limitarse a filtros, correas, bombillos y bolsas.
2. Un técnico de servicio que le indique al usuario la instalación correcta del producto,
operación o mantenimiento.
3. Un técnico de servicio que limpie o de mantenimiento a este producto.
4. Daño o fallo de este producto si no se instala, opera o mantiene de acuerdo a
todas las instrucciones incluidas con este producto.
5. Daño o fallo de este producto como resultado de un accidente, abuso, mal uso o
uso diferente a los fines previstos.
6. Daño o fallo de este producto causado por detergentes, limpiadores, químicos u
otrros utensilios que no sean los recomendados en las instrucciones incluidas con
este producto.
7. Daño o fallo de las piezas o sistemas como resultado de modificaciones no
autorizadas que se hagan a este producto.
Esta garantía no será válida si este producto se usa para otro propósito que no sea de
uso doméstico.
Esta garantía le da derechos legales específicos y es posible que tenga otros derechos
los cuales pueden variar de un estado a otro.
