Keysight N6841A Quickstart Guide
Observe all Safety Requirements
Maximum Ambient Temperature: 55 ˚C.
Do not cover or block the cooling fins on the casing.
Antenna inputs are ESD sensitive. Use appropriate safeguards.
Do not mount this unit or its antennas under or near power lines.
The included +15VDC power supply (P/N N6841A-SP1 or
N6841-64501) is safe for indoor use only, and the cable
from either of these supplies must not be run outdoors.
If the RF Sensor is installed outdoors, use a Class 2, outdoor-rated
24VDC supply.
To Install the Keysight RF Sensor:
1) Secure the sensor to mounting bracket using the
four tapped mounting holes on either the front or rear faces.
2) Connect the grounding strap and all antenna grounding
connectors to the M4 grounding connection on the end panel.
Observe all local safety codes.

3) Connect optional lightning surge arresters to the two antenna
inputs. These arresters are for ESD protection as well as
lightning discharge protection.
Keysight recommends L-COM AL6-NMNFBW-9
4) Connect the antenna connectors to their appropriate
connections on the end panel.

8) Connect the power cable to the power connection.
9) Connect the power supply to the power mains
with the country-specific power cord.

Antenna Connections
5) Connect the GPS antenna to the GPS antenna connection.
If unused, leave the GPS protective cap in place on this connector.
6) Connect the LAN cable to the Ethernet connection.
7) Connect the LAN cable to a safety-certified LAN switch.

easier recovery if you make a configuration error.

Keysight N6841A Software Quickstart Guide
To Install the Keysight RF Sensor Software:
1) Either, place the RF Sensor DVD into the appropriate
computer drive that will be used to control the unit, or
download the N6829BS software from the Keysight Web
www.keysight.com/find/N6829BS-SW.
To discover sensors on the subnet, from the SMT window, use
the following steps:
1) Click on the Configuration icon.
To add an available sensor on the list of SMS-available sensors:
1) From the list of available sensors in the Configuration
window, select the sensor you wish to use and click on it
to highlight its entry.
2) Select the Discover Sensors tab on the right side of the
window.

2) If the PC has the autorun option enabled, the software
installation program starts automatically. If the autorun
option is disabled, from the DVD drive, run the
setup.exe.
To run the Keysight RF Sensor Software:
1) Click on the start menu, go to the Keysight RF Sensor
folder and click on the Sensor Management Tool.

2) At the bottom of the Configuration window, click on the
button marked, “Add to SMS.”
3) Expand the All Sensors list
The sensor icon appears, followed by the sensor’s name,
the sensor and SMS are communicating.
Sensor colors indicate: Green (communicating,
functioning properly), Gray (not communicating, or
powered off), Red (problem with sensor). Hover over the
sensor icon for more details.

3) Click the “Find Sensors on Local Subnet” button. (Note
that the button legend becomes “Refresh sensor list.”
4) Locate the serial number of the newly-installed sensor.
