Precautions & Safety
OPERATION.
Use of the SL70VG outside its intended purpose, as de-
scribed in this documentation, could result in damage to the vehicle or sur-
rounding property, or cause serious injury or even death. As the installer
of this security system, it is your responsibility to ensure that the vehicle
owner is properly informed of all the details of your installation which are
pertinent to safety.
SAFETY POINTS TO ABIDE BY
:
1. Never start the vehicle’s engine in enclosed spaces that lack ad-
equate ventilation. Extended exposure to carbon monoxide exhaust
fumes can result in death!
2. Do not disconnect the vehicle’s battery, as it could cause serious
problems with airbag systems, anti-theft radios or vehicle diagnos-
tics. If you absolutely must disconnect the vehicle’s battery, first
disconnect the main power wire of the SL70VG and then disconnect
the vehicle’s battery.
3. Do not proceed with installing this system in vehicles that do not have
a 12-volt electrical system. This system will not function in 24-volt
trucks, and any damage resulting from such installation shall be the
sole responsibility of the installer.
4. Do not install the SL70VG in or near water, or in a location where
water could gather. The SL70VG is not waterproof and an electrical
short could occur if water gets inside.
5. Do not install the SL70VG in an environment of intense condensing
humidity or steam, in an area with an unusually large number of
airborne particles, or any place where oil could build up inside the
control module case. All of these extreme environments could lead
to an electrical short and possible cause a fire.
6. Avoid installing the SL70VG near sources of intense RF transmis-
sions which could possibly interfere with the operation of the sys-
tem. If you find the system is randomly working and not working,
consider relocating the unit.

Steps Toward a Professional Installation:
•Ensure all electrical contacts cannot easily break by tugging on the
wires. We highly recommend the use of optional PosiTap brand con-
nectors for your connections. Do not use solder unless you are expe-
rienced with it, and test your connections, then securely cover with
electrical tape, heat shrink tubing and/or corrugated tubing.
•Use only a DMM (digital multi-meter) to test leads or take voltage
readings. Do not use “test lights” or “logic probes” (“computer-safe
test lights” included) because they draw a large amount of electrical
current that could overload and destroy sensitive circuitry in the ve-
hicle.
•Manually turn off all lights (such as the dome light) that illuminate
when a hatch is opened so you will not run down the battery. If you
cannot manually turn off all the lights, then remove the appropriate
fuses and don’t forget to replace the fuses after your installation is
complete.
•Roll down a window to avoid locking the keys in the car.
•If you need a constant +12 volt power source under the dash, splice
off the wire leading to pin-16 (POWER) at back of the vehicle’s OBD
plug. OBD pin-16 supplies a constant +12V at up to 7A. Alternatively,
run a thick fused wire directly to the vehicle’s battery in the engine
compartment.
•When running extension wire, always use a wire gauge that is as big
or bigger than the wire you are extending.
Car Battery Tips:
•Modern car batteries don’t last long. You can expect 2~3 years of us-
able life. Car batteries deteriorate even when not used. A bad battery
can show sudden voltage drops which can cause product malfunction.
•Always verify your car battery is good when troubleshooting the
SL70VG before returning the product to KIRAMEK.

INCLUDED ITEMS
Doors auto-lock when vehicle speed reaches
20km/h (12.4mph).
Putting the gear back into the “P” Park position auto-
matically unlocks the doors.
Very sudden and hard braking (such as to
avoid an accident) causes doors to unlock
9 seconds later if and only if your vehicle
has completely stopped. Doors will not
unlock if your vehicle is still moving.
If someone unlocks the doors while the vehicle is moving faster than
20km/hr (12.4mph), doors will immediately relock for safety. Your ve-
hicle must have SMART keyless for all doors to relock, otherwise only
the driver’s door will relock. (Your vehicle has SMART if you can
lock/unlock by a mere touch of the outside door handle.) Please consult
the SL70VG Compatibility Chart for more detailed information on how
your car’s doors will relock. This is important because not all doors
relock on some cars.

INITIALIZE
CAN wires are found behind the glove box on
most cars, so it’s best to mount the Control
Module in this area.
1.
2.
3.
Connect the RED & BLK power wires to a constant 12V source, such as power in the OBD
connector. Connect the 2 CAN wires according to the installation information we have for
your specific vehicle, separate from but provided with this manual.

RED = Constant +12V
BLK = (–) Ground (body metal)

After completing Steps 1 & 2 above, turn on the Ignition. The LED in the Control Module
should blink. Eventually you should hear a beep from the Control Module and see the
LED light solid, confirming Initialization is complete.
Press Reset while the Ignition remains ON if you never hear the beep and/or never see
the LED changing from a blinking pattern to solid on. Keep pressing Reset until you see
the Control Module LED start to blink.
Never turn OFF the ignition while the LED is blinking. Doing so will end initialization and
the SL70VG will not function. Press Reset while the Ignition is on to restart initialization.

1. The SL70VG reads the vehicle speed by CAN bus, so the auto lock
speed may differ very slightly from what you see on your speedom-
eter. This is normal and nothing to worry about.
2. In some rare cases, noise may temporarily appear on an in-dash
TV while door lock motors are working. That noise is from the door
lock motors and is not an indication of problems with the SL70VG.
3. You cannot install the SL70VG on vehicles with manual (stick
shift) transmissions.
4. KIRAMEK is not liable for traffic accidents, thefts, or acts of God
even if the SL70VG is installed in your car.
5. The SL70VG can be used with all DIGI-LINK CAN products from
KIRAMEK, like the 1480 car security system. We cannot guaran-
tee properly operation of the SL70VG when used along side other
company’s CAN products, however, because there are OBD and
CAN products that are not designed well and cause signal interfer-
ence with our and other 3rd party products.
6. Product features and specifications subject to change without
notice.

PLEASE NOTE
VERIFY4.
Close all doors and then either turn on the Ignition or start the engine. While stepping
on the Brake, move the gear into the R or D positions and lock the doors by pressing the
door lock switch inside your car. Return the gear to the P position and confirm the doors
automatically unlock. The auto-unlock confirms the SL70VG is functioning properly. If
doors do not unlock, press the Reset switch on the Control Module in accordance with
Step-3 instructions.
