unlock doors due to shock, impact, airbag inflation or car accidents.
•
This product must only be used in compatible cars that have an Automatic Transmission. Installing into

•NEVER modify this product in any way. Such modifications could result in malfunction or situations
where bodily harm, vehicle damage, and/or product damage could occur.
•ALWAYS install in accordance with this document. Non-standard installations can result in situations

OPERATIONAL NOTES
NOTE Product or vehicle failure could result from ignoring the following:
•This product is primarily intended for use on Japanese vehicles within Japan.
•NEVER store or mount this product where water, oil, dirt, or moisture collects, or where there is
intense heat or steam present. Such may cause product failure.
•This product is primarily intended for sale at domestic Japanese car dealerships.
•
Our company shall not be held liable for traffic accidents that occur with the SL20 installed.
•Specifications of this product are subject to change without notice.
•This product Locks the doors when the vehicle speed exceeds 20km/h and Unlocks doors when the
gear is shifted back to the “P” (Park) position.
•This product auto Relocks doors when doors are Unlocked at a vehicle speed of 20km/h or faster.
•This product has an Emergency Unlock feature that auto Unlocks doors 9 sec. after rapid deceleration
is detected. (This product has nothing to do with vehicle air bag deployment, nor will this product function
based on “shock” or “impact” to the vehicle.) However, when doors are Unlocked 9 sec. later, if the
vehicle speed is above 20km/h, doors will be auto Relocked.
•
This product has an ESS safety feature that flashes your Hazard Lamps when rapid deceleration of 9m/s2
(e.g., hard braking) is detected while you are driving 55km/h (+/- 3km/h) or faster. Hazard lights will flash at
3Hz and will continue to flash until deceleration drops to 3m/s2 or less (i.e., when you ease off the brake).
•Your Speedometer may show a speed slightly higher than 20km/h when the SL20 automatically Locks.
Toyota cars are designed to show a slightly higher speed on the speedometer.
•Doors Unlock whenever a third-party Remote Starter or Turbo Timer is activated.
•The SL20 is not intended for use on Manual Transmission (MT) cars, even if you find it works.
•Our company is not liable for traffic accidents or theft or vandalism.
• Noise may appear on your car’s TV due to door lock movement, not the SL20.
•This product is compatible with DIGI-LINK® products but not with 3rd party CAN-BUS products.
• Actual function of RELOCK varies by vehicle and which lock/unlock switch was used to Lock. See the
compatibility table on our SL20T web page for details.
ESS is a safety feature that flashes your vehicle's Hazard Lamps when rapid deceleration of 9m/s2(e.g., hard
braking) is detected while you are driving 55km/h* (+/- 3km/h) or faster. When ESS triggers, the Hazard lights
will flash at 3Hz (180 times per minute). Hazards will continue to flash until vehicle deceleration drops to
3m/s2* or less (i.e., when you ease off the brake). *Varies slightly by vehicle weight.
Rapid deceleration (usually caused by braking hard) will result in the doors being auto Unlocked 9 seconds
later. However, doors will be Relocked when the vehicle speed is 20km/h or faster. (This feature has nothing to
do with your air bag or shock/impact to the vehicle.)
• Doors LOCK when vehicle speed exceeds 20km/h.
• Returning the gear to the “P” (Park) position will auto UNLOCK doors.
• Rapid deceleration will cause doors to UNLOCK 9 seconds later.
• Doors RELOCK if they are unlocked when you are driving 20km/h or faster.
• Rapid deceleration at 55km/h or faster will cause ESS to flash the Hazards.
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Metal Handle
Makes it easier when you want
to remove the SL20 from your
vehicle’s OBD connector.
OBD Connector
This white part connects directly into your
vehicle’s factory OBD connector.
RESET Button
Used only when moving the SL20
to another vehicle, or if the vehicle
is not recognized for some reason.
Internal LED (red)
Lights when the product
is operating.
STEP-1: Start your car’s engine.
STEP-2:Connect the SL20 to your car’s OBD connector, then the SL20’s internal red LED
will start flashing.
STEP-3:Installation is complete when the LED changes from flashing to being lit solid red.
(You can now turn off your engine.)
You must connect the SL20 only AFTER you start your car’s engine! And DO NOT turn off your engine
until the SL20’s internal LED changes from flashing to being lit solid red.
If you connect the SL20 before you start the engine, or if you stop the engine while the SL20’s LED is
flashing, or if you crank the engine with the SL20 connected, the following could occur:
If you experience either of the two problem cases above, while your car’s engine is running, use a paperclip to
press the SL20’s Reset Button UNTIL the internal red LED of the SL20 starts to flash. The SL20’s LED should
then change from Flashing to Lit Solid after you release the Reset Button (which means it’s operating correctly).
You can use something other than a paperclip if you like, so long as it won’t break off in the Rest Button’s hole.
1) If you are installing the SL20 with a CAR DOOR OPENED:
Doors may repeatedly Lock and Unlock.
2) If you are installing the SL20 with CAR DOORS CLOSED:
