Basic Use Guide
Below are the sequential steps to scan items on the scanning station.
1. Power up PC
2. Power up scanner
3. Logon to PC
•Novell username = Mqpscan
•Novell password = scanmqp
Kodak Capture Pro software should start automatically. If not please click on the Blue
“Capture Pro” icon on the desktop.
4. Starting a new job
The Scanning software will open to a “batch manager” dialog box (see above). On this screen select
“New” (1). (A new batch can be started at any time after initial login by clicking the “New Batch” (2)
icon)

Next a dialog box will open. On this screen select “Ok” to continue.
5. Scanning Documents
Place documents to be scanned ‘Face-down’ on the scanner.
6. Choosing Color or Black and white
The default option will be whatever was used last. So please check if the document is colour or black
and white and scan in the appropriate format.
•Black and White If you wish to set the scanner to scan in ‘Black and White’ only
please select “Black & White - 300 DPI - Delete Blanks - auto rotate e” from the drop-down
shown below.
•Color If you wish to set the scanner to scan color documents please select
“Auto Colour - 300 DPI - Delete Blanks - auto rotate” from the drop-down shown below.
7. Start the scan
At this point the green “Start” button (see image above) will become available. Click this button to
start scan.

Once the scan begins the software will prompt you to enter a document name(see image above).
Once you have entered the desired name press “Enter’ key complete to complete. if saving to
specific network location it can be left blank)
(Note# This name is only applied if you do batch saving which is in a separate User Guide)
8. Saving the document
1. From the “Batch Explorer”(1)select the document folder to choose to save all pages to PDF.
2. Then select the “PDF” icon(2) to open save as PDF dialog box
3. You will then be prompted to choose if you desire the PDF to be text searchable or not. For
`the most part this will not be required (as this requires increased file size) and the default
option will suffice. Press “Ok” to continue.
4. Next navigate to the appropriate folder for these items to be saved to. Type in desired name
and click “Save”.
9. Shut down
5. When you have finished scanning please turn off the Scanner and the PC an cover scanner
with clear plastic cover provided.

10. FAQ’s:
•What do I do if there is a paper Jam?
Locate the handle marked (1) and gently lift. Remove paper.
Gently replace cover; you will hear a click as it returns to its original position.
