BEFORE YOU BEGIN
HOW TO USE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Please read these instructions carefully to familiarize yourself with
therequiredtools,materials,and installationsequences.Followthe
sections that pertain to your particular installation. This will help you
avoid costly mistakes. In addition to proper installation, read all
operating and safety instructions.
All information in these instructions is based on the latest product
information available at the time of publication. Kohler Co. reserves
the right to make changes in product characteristics, packaging, or
availability at any time without notice.
These instructions contain important care, cleaning, and warranty
information – please leave for the consumer.
NOTES
This instruction provides installation details for both
self-rimming and undercounter sink installations. Follow only
the steps that apply to your installation.
Due to the nature of undercounter installations, Kohler Co.
recommends that undercounter sink installations be
performed by trained and experienced installers.
To ensure a safe and damage-free installation, two people
should install the heavier sink models. Refer to the
approximate sink weights listed in the Specifications Section
on Page 2.
Observe all local plumbing and building codes.
Shut off the hot and cold water supplies.
Inspect the waste and supply tubing; replace as needed.
Prior to installation, unpack the new sink and carefully
inspect it for damage. Return the sink to its protective carton
until you are ready to install it.
For multiple-bowl installations, additional support will be
required between bowls installed in countertops that are less
than 1” (2.5cm) thick.
For multiple-bowl, undercounter installations, a
minimum distance of 3-3/8” (8.6cm) is required between
bowls.
A minimum countertop thickness of 1” (2.5cm) is required if
using the anchors provided.
Do not use adhesives or adhesive sealants with this
product.

INSTALLATION
FOR ALL INSTALLATIONS
Choose between “Undercounter Cutout” or “Self-Rimming Cutout”
template cut lines. Cut along the inside of the template on the
correct line for your installation.
Position the template on the countertop. The centerlines are
provided on the template to help with alignment. Check for
adequate clearance between the fixture, faucet, and backsplash
(finished wall), and make sure the fixture will not interfere with the
cabinet during installation.
For multiple-bowl installations, additional support will be
required between bowls installed in countertops that are less than
1” (2.5cm) thick.
For multiple-bowl, undercounter installations, a minimum
distance of 3-3/8” (8.6cm) is required between bowls. Fig. #3
Trace the cutout opening on the countertop with a soft lead pencil.
This is the CUTTING LINE.
Locate the faucet hole centerlines on the countertop. Re-check for
adequate clearance between the backsplash, faucet, fixture, and
cabinet.
For most undercounter installations, a minimum distance of 2-7/8”
(7.3cm) is required between the faucet centerline and the edge of
the template. For self-rimming installations, a minimum distance of
1-7/8” (4.8cm) is required between the faucet centerline and the
edge of the template. Adjust the template as needed. Remove the
template, and save it for consumer reference.

Cut out all required openings in the countertop by cutting inside the
pencilline tracedfrom thetemplate. Forlaminate-type countertops,
make sure all exposed non-laminated surfaces near the cutout
area are finished and sealed to prevent water absorption damage.
CAUTION: Riskof product damage. Do notcut,drill, or
sand the countertop while it is positioned over the fixture.
Proceed to Page 4 for Undercounter installations.
Proceed to Page 6 for Self-Rimming installations.

FOR UNDERCOUNTER INSTALLATIONS
Drill the required faucet holes, and install the faucet to the
countertop according to the faucet manufacturer’s instructions.

Equally space the required number of clamps, and locate the
clamp-mounting holes on the underside of the countertop (the
required number of clamps is listed in the chart on Page 2).
Forinstallationto solid, non-woodencountertops, drill 3/8”diameter
holes 5/8” (1.6cm) deep to accommodate the anchors provided.
Install the anchors flush with the countertop bottom surface. Install
the clamps.
Turn the clamps parallel to the opening to allow for easy installation
of the sink.

Clean the top of the sink rim with a non-abrasive cleaner (see
Important Consumer Information on Page 8).
Clean the underside of the countertop around the cutout area,
making sure the surface is smooth, clean, and free of defects.
Apply a generous bead of sealant to the top surface of the sink rim.

Position and align the sink with the countertop cutout.
Rotatethe clamps over thesink rim, and carefully tighten themuntil
they are just snug.

Check the alignment of the sink with the cutout. Then securely
tighten the clamps.
Wipe away any excess sealant with a clean, dry cloth.
Proceed to Page 7 to complete this installation.

FOR SELF-RIMMING INSTALLATIONS
Temporarily set the sink into the countertop cutout. Follow either of
the following two methods of preparing for sealant application:
Trace a pencil line on the countertop around the entire
outside edge of the sink; or
Apply masking tape to the countertop around the entire
outside edge of the sink to aid clean-up of sealant. The
masking tape should be applied approximately 1/8” (3mm)
from the sink edge. Be sure the tape is applied smoothly
around the entire sink, including the corners.
Remove the sink from the cutout.
Drill the faucet holes, and install the faucet to the countertop
according to the faucet manufacturer’s instructions.

Apply two beads of sealant to the countertop between the cutout
and pencil line or masking tape. Evenly spread out the sealant with
a clean putty knife.

Carefully set the sink into the cutout so the sink edges line up with
the pencil line or masking tape. Press down on the sink firmly and
evenly.
Immediately wipe away any excess sealant with a dry, clean towel.
Fill any voids in the sealant joint, as needed.
If you applied masking tape around the sink edges, carefully
remove it at this time.
Proceed to Page 7 to complete this installation.

FOR ALL INSTALLATIONS
Allow the sealant to set for 30 minutes or more. Follow all
instructions listed on the sealant label.
Connect the drain fittings and the faucet supply fittings.
Turn on the water supplies, and check for leaks at all connections.
Tighten or repair any connections that leak.

CONSUMER RESPONSIBILITIES
Keep your cast iron sink looking new by rinsing it out thoroughly
after each use. Do not regularly use abrasives on enameled cast
iron, as this will eventually scratch and ruin the surface. For
stubborn stains such as metal marks, abrasives may be used
sparingly. Avoid soaking dishes for very long periods of time, and
refrain from leaving coffee grounds and tea bags in the sink.
