1. BEFORE YOU BEGIN
HOW TOUSE THESEINSTRUCTIONS
Please read these instructions carefully to familiarize
yourselfwiththerequiredtools,materials,andinstallation
sequences.Followthesectionsthatpertaintoyourpartic-
ularinstallation.Thiswill aid you in avoiding theunneces-
sary expense associated with improper installation. In
additiontoproperinstallation,readalloperatingandsafe-
ty instructions.
All information in these instructions is based onthe latest
product information available at the time of publication.

INSTALLER HAZARD NOTIFICATION
WARNING: Risk of injury or product damage.
Handle vitreous china products very carefully.
Vitreous china can break and chip if you
over-tighten bolts and nuts.
NOTE: Follow all local plumbing and electrical codes.

PRODUCTREQUIREMENTS
The toilet MUST have a 3/8” I.D. water supply that
is10-1/4”above the floorand5-1/8”leftof the clos-
etflangecenterline.25p.s.i.runningpressureisre-
quired at the shut-off valve.
Sincealltoiletsdonothavethesamesupplyrough-
in, you may have tochange the locationof the sup-
ply stop to install this toilet.
Closet flange must be 12” on-center from wall.
Seat post holes are on 5-1/2” centers.

2. SITE PREPARATION
REMOVE EXISTING TOILET
NOTE: Carefully inspect new fixture for any sign of dam-
age before removing existing toilet.
Turn off water supply.
Flushthe toiletandspongeout remainingwaterfrom tank
and bowl.
Disconnect supply valve and remove old tank and bowl.
Remove old gasket from the floor and closet flange with
a putty knife.
Remove old T-bolts (the T-shaped bolts in the closet
flange) and discard.
CAUTION: Risk of hazardous gases.Ifnewtoilet
is not installed immediately, temporarily stuff a rag
in the closet flange.

ROUGH-IN PLUMBING
Turn off water supply.
Install or relocate supplies and outlets as necessary to
conform to roughing-in dimensions. See Fig. #2. For
shut-off valve location, see Fig. #3.

3. INSTALLATION
INSTALL NEW SHUT-OFF VALVE
For supply installation, refer to instructions packed with
supply stop.
Locatesupplyshut-offvalvesoitis”10-1/4abovefloorline
and 5-1/8” to the left of the centerline of the closet flange.

INSTALL TOILET GASKET
Place toilet upside down in padding.
Firmly place gasket on toilet outlet. If using a gasket with
integral plastic sleeve, position gasket with sleeve facing
away from toilet.
If desired, place a 1/4”-thick bead of toilet setting com-
pound around base.
NOTE: If a rag or other plug was placed in closet flange,
remove rag from closet flange before setting toilet.

ALIGN AND SET TOILET
Carefully align and lower toilet over the closet flange and
T-bolts.
CAUTION: Risk of external leakage. Donot lift or
rock toilet after placement. A new gasket must be
reapplied if you break the watertight seal.
Apply full body weight to toilet rim to set seal.

SECURETOILET
Assemble bolt cap bases, washers, and nuts on exposed
T-bolts.
CAUTION: Risk of personal injury or product
damage. Over-tightening may cause breakage or
chipping.
Hand-tightennuts,thentightenan additional1/2-turnwith
wrench. If T-bolts extend more than 1/4” from top of nut,
cut off excess with a hacksaw and file cut edges. Wipe
away any residue. Install bolt caps. Fig. #7

TO INSTALL NEW TANK
Unscrew the pushbutton and remove the tank lid.
Remove bags located in the tank. Assemble tank gasket
into place and lower the tank onto the base, carefully
aligning the holes on tank and base.
Insert rubber washers, washers, and screws inside the
tank.Makesurethetankscrewsextendthroughtheholes
in the toilet base.
Assemble the brass washers and nuts to the screws from
uinder the tank.
CAUTION: Risk of personal injury or product
damage. Overtightening may cause breakage or
chipping.

INSTALL SEAT
Place rubber washers on the seat hinges and position in
holes located on toilet base. Tighten nylon nuts onto seat
hinges extending through bottom of bowl.

TOCONNECT WATER SUPPLY
NOTE: Read carefully before performing this step.
For supply installation, refer to instructions packed with
shut-off valve. Carefully bend tubing to fit.
Cuttubing end1/4”longer thandistancebetween shut-off
valveand supply shank. Remove any burrs frominsideof
tube.
Slip coupling nut, compression nut, and ferrule onto
tubing. Insert tubing into shut-off valve and supply shank,
positioning seal washer (supplied) or compression
washer (not supplied) as shown. Hand-tighten coupling
nut and then tighten compression nut.
CAUTION: Risk of product damage. Do not
overtighten or you may deform connections and
causealeak.Donotusetoolstotightenplasticnuts. Fig. #9

CHECK FOR LEAKS
Turn on shut-off valve and check for leaks. If connections
are squarely assembled, a slight re-tightening of the nuts
will stop any leaks. Check all connections for leaks for
several days. The nuts under the bolt caps may also re-
quire re-tightening.

TO ADJUST WATER LEVEL
To obtain the correct water level in the tank, adjust the
Tank Water Level Screw, by turning counterclockwise to
raisethewaterlevel,orclockwise tolowerthewaterlevel.

5. IMPORTANT CONSUMER INFORMATION
CONSUMERRESPONSIBILITIES
If living in a hard water area, make certain that the holes
in the rim are kept clean for proper bowl flushing. Toilet
bowl cleaners should be used at least once a week. Use
a long-handled brush to clean the rim holes and to clean
asfar intothetrap aspossibleto preventmineraldeposits
from forming.
Most toilet bowl cleaners are not harmful to the vitreous
china surface of the toilet bowl. Some in-the-tank toilet
cleanersmaycontaincalciumhypochloridewhichmaybe
harmful to the brass fittings inside the tank. Please follow
the bowl cleaner manufacturer’s instructions carefully.
Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

FOURTH: Include all pertinent information regarding
yourclaim,includingacompletedescriptionof
the product, model numbers, colors, finishes,
and the date the product was installed.
Include a description of the problem, and a
photocopy of your invoice for the products
involved. Also give us the name of the
contractor and distributor.
LIMITED ONE-YEAR WARRANTY
Kohlerplumbing fixtures andfittingsarewarrantedfreeof
manufacturing defects.
Kohler Co. will, at its election repair, replace, or make
appropriate adjustment where Kohler Co. inspection
discloses any such defects occurring in normal usage
within one year after installation. Kohler Co. is not
responsible for installation costs.
To obtain warranty service, contact Kohler Co. either
through your Dealer or Plumbing Contractor or by writing
Kohler Co., Attn: Consumer Affairs Department, Kohler,
WI 53044 U.S.A.
Implied warranties, including that of merchantability, are
expressly limited in duration to the duration of this
warranty. Kohler Co. disclaims any responsibility for
consequential damages.
Some states do not allow limitations on how long an
implied warranty lasts or the exclusion or limitation of
incidental or consequential damages, so this limitation
and exclusion may not apply to you. This warranty gives
you specific legal rights. You may also have rights which
vary from state to state.
