2 ) T o r q u e : M I N
1) odel: you can select the screwdriver to be used. Your choice will auto atically change the default
settings. It’s i portant to select the correct odel you’re going to use since any para eters regarding the
otor software are specific to individual odels.
ATTENTION: When using the PLUTO3FR, PLUTO5FR or PLUTO7FR odels so e para eters are not
functional or changeable. For exa ple, the pre-set torque level % doesn’t appear on the display.
Para eters that are not changeable will be displayed: “not available for clutch”.
2) Torque level: you can select the desired torque as a percentage of the torque range of the selected
screwdriver odel. For exa ple, for a Pluto10, a 50% setting on hard joint will result in a torque of
approxi ately 4,5 N . It is i portant to understand that the published torque range of each screwdriver
odel is based on the tools MAX speed. As you lower the operating speed, the torque range will
progressively lower in order to avoid otor stalling. If the torque level % is reached correctly, it will be
shown on the display and you will hear a “beep” sound, too. Torque level % is indicated as “ T: ..% ” on the
ain screen.

3 ) J o i n t : S O F T
4 ) B r a k e t i m e : O F F
5 ) R a m p t i m e : 0 . 2 s
3) Joint: You ust select the type of joint you are working on. This selection changes the RMP algorthu
to be used during the screw tightening process. The Joint type selection will have a direct i pact on the
resulting torque. The type of joint is indicated as “J” on the ain screen.
SOFT: If you select the option SOFT the screwdriver will run the co plete cycle at the selected speed (see
point 6.) A soft joint is typically a self tapping screw on plastic or sheet etal, or a etric ( achine) screw
on a aterial subject to strain (for exa ple: gasket, o ring etc.) A hard joint is typically a fastener joining
etal with etal. .
HARD: When selecting the option HARD the screwdriver will aintain the selected speed for a selected
ti e after the start (see point 4.) and then the speed will be reduced auto atically to apply a pre-torque
before reaching the preset torque.
NOTE: If you set the tool below 1/3 of the MAX speed it is best to just go with the SOFT joint setting.

4) Brake time: This para eter is only active in co bination with the option JOINT: HARD. Break Ti e
indicates how long the selected speed (higher speed) will be on before switching to “pre-torque speed”
(lower speed). The “pre-torque speed” will be auto atically chosen by the unit depending on the preset
torque. You can set the brake ti e fro 0,3 to 10,0 s. To disable the function select OFF by pressing as
any ti es as needed. In this case the screwdriver will auto atically start at pre-torque speed (lower
speed), which cannot be set by the user.
CAUTION: The ai of the brake ti e is only to speed up the approach ti e in case of long screws. Reach -
ing the torque at higher speed will result in inaccurate torque output. To avoid inaccurate torque we suggest
selecting a shorter ti e, and then increase it step by step until finding the opti u ti e.
Torque reached during the Brake Ti e won’t activate the torque signal and the essage “Error brake
time” will be displayed on the ain screen together with 2 “beep” sounds. The red led will turn on, too.
5) Ramp time: You can select the slow start ti e (acceleration) fro 0.2 to 3.00 seconds. This option is
only available for the screwing phase, while during the unscrewing phase the ra p ti e is always 0.2
seconds. We suggest using this option with self tapping screws.
ATTENTION: Reaching final torque during the ra p ti e will likely result in a different (lower) torque
level fro the one that results when the tool is at full speed (due to the otor acceleration). Even so; the
“Screw OK” signal will activate when reaching final torque during the ra p ti e, allowing for tightening
screws that are already tightened, the so called “double hit”. If you wish to disable this function and see a
error signal during the ra p phase, you can change the ini u ti e by setting value which is equal or
greater to the ra p ti e value (see point 7).

6) Speed: You can select any speed value of the screwdriver between the axi u & ini u speed
specified in the catalog (see table with technical data). Note that all the torque specification provided
assu e the tool is set at its axi u speed.
7) inimum Time:
You can set this ti e fro 0,1s to 'Max ti e - 0.1s'. To disable the function select OFF by pressing as
any ti es as needed. (Min ti e = 0). Torque reached below the ini u ti e won’t activate the torque
signal and will result in an error signal. “Below minimum time” will be displayed on the status bar and the
red led will light up. You will hear two beep sounds, too.
8) aximum time:
You can set this ti e fro 'Min ti e + 0,1s' to 20,0s . If torque isn’t reached by the axi u ti e, the
screwdriver will stop. “Over maximum time” will be displayed on the status bar and the red led will light up.
You will hear two beep sounds, too.

9) Reverse: This option will auto atically start a reverse cycle after a torque reached signal. You can set
ti e fro 0.1 to 20.0s.
To disable the function select OFF by pressing as any ti es as needed.
ATTENTION: During the reverse cycle, it is necessary to keep the lever pressed or the start signal high
for as long as you want the screwdriver to run. If this is done correctly the essage “Correct screw” will
be displayed on the status bar and a green led will light up. You will hear one “beep” sound, too. If this is
done incorrectly and the lever is released or the start signal goes low before the end of the reverse cycle,
“unfinished screw” will be displayed and a red led will light up. You will hear two “beep” sounds, too.
10) Rev speed – Reverse speed: You can select any reverse speed value of the screwdriver between the
axi u & ini u speed specified in the catalog (see table with technical data).
11) Rev torque – Unscrewing torque: you can select the desired torque as a percentage of the torque
range of a given screwdriver (see point 2). If the torque is set on MAX, the unscrewing torque is about 20%
higher than the possible axi u torque, so that it is always possible to unscrew the tightened screw (we
suggest leaving this function on in nor al use). If the setting is fro MIN to 99% the unscrewing torque
will be the sa e percentage.
ATTENTION: If you’re using open end “tube nut” wrench blades, the unscrewing torque must be set
to IN value in order to bring the wrench back to the correct position.
12) Language: This option allows to select a ong 4 languages: English, Italian, Ger an and Spanish
(French and Portuguese on request).
The following menu is available in the HP version only
13) ax torque: This is the period of ti e in which the screwdriver works at axi u torque before
down shifting to the torque that has been set by the user. You can set ti e fro 0.1s to 10.0s. To disable the
function select OFF by pressing as any ti es as needed.
This function overlaps other ti e settings (brake ti e, ra p ti e, ini u ti e, axi u ti e) fro the
otor start on.
ATTENTION: This function is useful for applications where the prevailing torque is higher than the final
torque (for exa ple trilobe screws or locknuts).
Please use this function with utmost attention because an incorrect use can damage both the assembly
and the screwdriver.

18) Compens – Compensation: This function allows an increase or decrease of the displayed torque
after calibration (offset). The available range is fro 0 to ±9,99N . For exa ple: after calibration (see
Torque calibration) run a screw down on a torque tester or on your asse bly (with a rotary transducer) and
co pare the value you see on the ain screen display to the value you see on a torque tester. If the torque
displayed in the EDU2AE/HP is +0.2N higher than the value indicated on the tester, change the Co pens
value to -0,2N . If it’s 0.2N lower you need to set +0.2N and so on. The offset you have set in the
Co pens para eter will then be applied to all future torque values displayed on the EDU 2HP.
NOTE: We reco end the Kolver Mini KE Rotary Transducers for checking the actual torque applied to
your part when conducting the adjust ents outlined above.
19) Unit: You can choose between the following units of easure ents: N and lb.in.
20) in torq – inimum torque: The ini u torque option allows the user to set the lowest value of
the torque range and it’s on if calibration is 'ON'. If calibration is 'OFF' the ini u torque value
auto atically sets on 0N . The ini u torque and axi u torque options allow the user to set the
acceptable torque range for each application. When the reached torque is inside this range, “tightening OK”
will be displayed on the status bar and the green led will light up. If the reached torque is outside this range
the essages “error ini u torque” or “error axi u torque” will be displayed. You can set the torque
range fro 0 N to 40 N at intervals of 0.01 N .

21) ax Torq – aximum Torque: The axi u torque option allows the user to set the highest
value of the torque range and it’s on if the calibration is 'ON'. If the calibration is 'OFF' the axi u
torque value auto atically sets on 40N . The ini u torque and axi u torque options allow the
user to set the acceptable torque range for the single application. When the reached torque is inside this
range, “right screwing” will be displayed on the status bar and the green led will light up. The essages
“below ini u torque” or “over axi u torque” will be displayed if the reached torque is outside this
range. You can set the torque range fro 0 N to 40 N at intervals of 0.01 N .
22) Screw number: The EDU2AE/HP can act as screw counter. You can set the nu ber of screws
fro 1 to 99. To disable the function select OFF by pressing as any ti es as needed.
If the nu ber of correct screws is equal to the nu ber of set screws “CYCLE END” will appear on the status
bar and the yellow led will light up. If the OK/ESC function is disabled (see point 23), “CYCLE END” will
auto atically disappear at next screwing or when you enter the enu. Otherwise, press OK at the end of
each cycle.
ATTENTION: Every ti e you enter the enu, the nu ber of screws resets to zero.
23) OK/ESC: If YES, press OK at the end of a cycle or ESC if an error essage is displayed. If NO, every
notification auto atically resets at next screwing cycle.
TORQUE CALIBRATION
It is necessary to have a torque tester to proceed with the torque calibration operation. Please read the
instructions carefully. For the best results we reco end the Kolver Rotary Transducers (on equivalent) to
indicate the torque at your joint.
The torque calibration function allows the user to view the torque value in N or lb.in directly on the
display.
ATTENTION: The displayed torque value is approxi ate and it’s deter ined by athe atical calculations,
based on data fro the screwdriver otor, not fro a transducer. The s aller the calibration interval the
ore precise the value on the screen.
IMPORTANT WARNINGS:
−Calibration values will referred to the para eters of the control unit which are set during
calibration. If you odify the Torque Level %, Speed, or type of joint the unit will need to be
recalibrated.
−If the screwing cycle during calibration isn’t carried out correctly or if you’re not sure of the value
it’s possible to repeat it. A wrong screwing cycle can affect the precision of the calibration cycle.
−Calibration is carried out for two torque levels optionally chosen. The ini u calibration interval
is 2% (exa ple: if you have to work at 30%, you can calibrate at 29% and 31%) but we reco end
a ini u of 10% interval.

−If you allow Torque percentages which are outside the ini u or axi u settings to be
recorded and included in the calibration process the resulting calibration will not be precise.
−During the calibration it’s i possible to go back to the previous screen. Press ESC to stop
calibration and then repeat the cycle.

SERIAL PORT (optional):
Every control unit can be supplied with a serial 9 pin ale connector (on de and). In this way you can print
the results of each screwing. The trans ission characteristics are the following: 9600 (bits per second), 8
(data bits), n (no parity), 1 (bits stop 1).
Connection pin: PIN 2 = TX, PIN 5 = GND
The print string is the following:
RESULT SCREWDRIVER
MODEL
%
TORQUE JOINT SPEED TORQUE SCREW
COUNT NOTICE
In case of error the string is as follows:
