Systemdescription
XPR100isamicrowave-basedsolutiondevelopedforDynamicPositioning(DP)
applicationsinneedoflong-rangerelativepositioning.Itoperatesinthe9.2to9.3GHz
band.Eachlightweightsensorpanelhasanopeningangleof100degrees.
XPR100canbedeployedasanomnidirectionalsystemusingseveralsensorpanels.This
willgivethesystemanextendedoperationalareaofupto360°,andavoidblindangles.
ThesystemcanbeinterfacedtoremotesystemssuchasDynamicPositioning.Either
throughEthernetorseriallines.Congurationandoperationofthesystemisdone
throughtheapplicationsoftware.
XPR100meetstherequirementsspeciedbyIMOforDPClass2vessels.
Thesystemhasautomatictargetselection,aswellasbuilt-insystemtestandverication.

YoucanalsohaveanXPRsystemwithtwoorthreeSensorUnitsforanextended
operationarea.ThenyouneedaJunctionBoxforeachoftheSensorUnits.Oryoucan
useatripleJunctionbox.
Productrestrictions
Restrictionsinguarantee
ChangesormodicationstotheproductnotexplicitlyapprovedbyKongsbergSeatex
ASwillvoidtheguarantee.
TheliabilityofKongsbergSeatexASislimitedtorepairofthissystemonlyunderthe
giventermsandconditionsstatedinthesalesdocuments.Consequentialdamagessuch
ascustomer'slossofprotordamagetoothersystemstraceablebacktothissystem's
malfunctions,areexcluded.Thewarrantydoesnotcovermalfunctionsofthesystem
resultingfromthefollowingconditions:
•TheProcessingUnitortheSensorUnithousinghasbeenopenedbythecustomer.
•Incorrectpowerconnection.
Restrictionsinuse
TheoperationsectorforasingleSensorUnitis100degrees.Ifthevesselexceedsthe
operatingsector,thesystemwilloutputrangeorbearingwithdecreasedprecisionuntil
thesignaliscompletelylost.
Foranincreasedoperatingsector,severalSensorUnitscanbeused.
XPRradiofrequencies
XPRsystemswithoperatingfrequenciesintherange9.2-9.3GHzarecompliantto
relevantpartsinETSIEN302248v2.1.1.
Theuseofthesefrequenciesinterritorialwatersmaybesubjecttothenational
regulationsoftheadministrationconcerned.
Radiofrequencylicense
Thisproductcontainsaradio-transmittingdeviceandanationallicensefortheuseof
frequenciesisrequiredforoperation.Useinnationalwaterswillrequireafrequency
licenseissuedbytherelevantnationalauthorities.Theowneranduseroftheequipment

areresponsibleforobtainingsuchalicensepriortoswitchingtheproductON.Itmaybe
requiredtoswitchtheproductOFFwhentheproductisbroughtclosetoshore(closer
than12NM).
Possibleradiofrequencyinterference
Thisequipmentgenerates,usesandcanradiateradiofrequencyenergy.Iftheequipment
isnotinstalledandusedinaccordancewiththeinstructions,itmaycauseharmful
interferencetoradiocommunication.However,thereisnoguaranteethatinterference
willnotoccurinaparticularinstallation.
Youcandetermineiftheequipmentcausesharmfulinterferencebyturningthe
equipmentoffandon.
Ifthisequipmentcausesharmfulinterferencetoradioortelevisionreception,youcantry
tocorrecttheinterferencebyoneormoreofthesemeasures.
•Repositionorrelocatethereceivingantenna.
•Increasetheseparationbetweentheequipmentandthereceiver.
•Connecttheequipmenttoanoutletonacircuitdifferentfromtheonetowhichthe
receiverisconnected.
•Consultthemanufacturerordealerforhelp.
Networksecurity
EquipmentmanufacturedbyKongsbergSeatexASisfrequentlyconnectedtolocal
areanetworks(LAN).Connectinganycomputertoanetworkwillalwaysexposethe
dataonthatcomputertoallothercomputersconnectedtothesamenetwork.Several
threatsmayimmediatelyoccur:
•Remotecomputerscanreadthedata.
•Remotecomputerscanchangethedata.
•Remotecomputerscanchangethebehaviourofthecomputer,forexampleby
installingunwantedsoftware.
Usually,twoparametersareusedtodenethethreatlevel:
1Thelikelihoodthatanyremoteconnectionwilldoanyoftheabove.
2Thedamagedoneifaremoteconnectionsucceedsdoingthis.
BecauseKongsbergSeatexAShasnoinformationregardingthecompletesystem
installationatalocation,wecannotestimatethethreatlevelandtheneedfornetwork
security.Forthisreason,wecannotacceptresponsibilityfornetworksecurity.Systems
providedbyKongsbergSeatexASareregardedasstand-aloneofinesystems,even
thoughtheymaybeconnectedtoanetworkforsensorinterfacesand/ordatadistribution.

NonetworksafetyapplicationsareinstalledonanyKongsbergSeatexcomputers.The
computersarethusnotprotectedagainstviruses,malwareorunintentionalaccessfrom
externalusers.
Securingthesystemitselfhasnomeaningunlessthereisapolicyinplacethatsecuresall
computersinthenetwork.Thispolicymustincludephysicalaccessbytrainedandtrusted
users.Thecustomer/enduserofthesystemwillalwaysbeinchargeofdeningand
implementingasecuritypolicy,andprovidingtherelevantnetworksecurityapplications.

TurningontheXPRsystem
Onceyouhaveveriedthatallcableshavebeenproperlyinstalledandthatthesupply
poweriscorrect,youcanturnonthesystem.
Context
Afterpower-ontheProcessingUnitwillgothroughaninitializationphase.Thenthe
leftmostLEDisred.Thiswillturngreenwhenthesystemisoperational.
TheSensorUnitstartstooperatewhenitisconnectedtoapowersource.
Procedure
1CheckthattheS1switchontheLocalinterfacerailisON.
2VerifythatQ1isswitchedON,ifQ1isusedtopowerthesystemmonitor.
3TurnontheProcessingUnitbypressingthepowerswitchlocatedbehindthelid
atthefrontoftheunit.
ThesystemwillnowstartupautomaticallyinStandbymode.
TurningofftheXPRsystem
ShutdowntheXPRsystemwhenyoudonotoperatethesystem.
Procedure
1TurntheSensorUnitoffbydisconnectingitfromitspowersource.Nospecial
precautionisneeded.
2TurnofftheProcessingUnitbypressingtheON/OFFbuttonunderthelidatthe
frontoftheunit.

TheLEDislit(greenlight)wheninActivemode(normaloperation).
InStandbymode(LEDisgrey),theSensorUnitwillnotemitanylaser
pulses.ItisrecommendedthatthesystemisswitchedtoStandbymode
whennotinoperation.

use.Ifyouwanttouseaspecicpairandaddresscode,youmustcreateanewtarget
beforeyoucanselectit.
