2 Funktion und Anwendung
Die Klemmeinheit HMPL−...−KP blockiert durch
eine reibschlüssige Verbindung die Klemm
stange 2. Letztere wird mit der Kolbenstange
des Linearmoduls starr verbunden. In der
Klemmeinheit drückt eine Feder zwei Klemm
backen auseinander. Infolge der Spreizung
der Klemmbacken werden diese auf der
Klemmstange verkantet.
Durch das Belüften des Druckluftanschlusses
4werden die Klemmbacken so zur Klemm
stange ausgerichtet, dass sich die Kolben
stange des Linearmoduls frei bewegen lässt.
Durch Drücken der Handbetätigung 5kann
die Klemmung manuell gelöst werden.
Die Klemmeinheit HMPL−...−KP wird bestimmungsgemäß zum Halten der Kolben
stange eines bevorzugt senkrecht eingebauten Festo Linearmoduls vom Typ
HMPL−... verwendet. Das Klemmen der HMPL−...−KP bei bewegter Kolbenstange
(Bremsen) ist nicht zulässig.
Der Einsatz der HMPL−...−KP bei plötzlichem Druckabfall in der gesamten Anlage ist
nur bei anschließender Funktionsprüfung zulässig (siehe Bedienung und Be
trieb").
Die Klemmung darf mit Ausnahme eines plötz
lichen Druckabfalls nur in den Endlagenposi
tionen des Linearmoduls (z.B. eingefahrene
Endlage), im folgenden Parkstellung genannt,
vorgenommen werden.
Die ruhende, geklemmte Kolbenstange in
einer Parkstellung darf ausschließlich auf der
hubseitigen Kammer Khbelüftet werden
(siehe Bild 3).
Dadurch wird vermieden, dass der Kolben
beim Lösen der Klemmung gegen eine unbe
lüftete Kammer fährt.

3 Voraussetzungen für den Produkteinsatz
Hinweis
Durch Abbremsen der Geschwindigkeit
kann die HMPL−...−KP zerstört werden.
SStellen Sie sicher, dass bei zyklischen
Klemmungen folgende Vorgaben einge
halten werden:
 die Klemmung wird nur in der belüfte−
ten Endlagenposition des Linearmo−
duls gelöst.
 die Klemmeinheit wird nur bei
vollständigem Stillstand der Kolben−
stange be− und entlüftet
 es treten keine dynamischen Kräfte
auf.

Fehlfunktionen können durch unsachgemäße Handhabung entstehen.
SBeachten Sie die Hinweise der Bedienungsanleitung Linearmodul HMPL−..."
für den ordnungsgemäßen und sicheren Einsatz des Produkts.

4 Einbau

Deformierte Bauteile können zum Funktionsausfall führen.
SStellen Sie sicher, dass keine Querkräfte auf das Gehäuse 3und die Klemm
stange 2der HMPL−...−KP ausgeübt werden.

Zur Montage der Klemmeinheit
SVollziehen Sie folgende Schritte:
1. Linearmodul HMPL−... entlüften und bei Bedarf ausbauen.
2. Kolbenstange des HMPL−... von Hand in der ausgefahrenen Endlage
positionieren.
3. Flansch 1und Gehäuse 3mit den beilie
genden Zentrierhülsen am HMPL−... plat
zieren.
Zum Verschieben der Klemmstange ist
gleichzeitig die Handbetätigung 5der
Klemmeinheit zu drücken.
4. Befestigungsschraube in Bohrung des
Flansches eindrehen. Die Anziehdrehmo
mente sind in Bild 6 zusammengefasst.

Zum Anfahren des Linearmoduls:
SEntlüften Sie das Linearmodul.
1. Schieben Sie die Kolbenstange von Hand
in die definierte Parkstellung (z. B. ein
gefahrene Endlage).
Dabei ist gleichzeitig die Handbetätigung
der Klemmeinheit zu drücken.
2. Belüften Sie diese Parkstellung des Li
nearmoduls und anschließend die Klem
meinheit.
3. Vollziehen Sie die Inbetriebnahme gemäß der Bedienungsanleitung des Linear
moduls HMPL−... .
6 Bedienung und Betrieb
Beim Eintreten eines plötzlichen Druckabfalls:
SPrüfen Sie die Funktion der HMPL−...−KP−... ohne Nutzlast wie folgt:
 Linearmodul HMPL−... entlüften
 Klemmeinheit entlüften
 Kolbenstange von Hand in eine Parkstellung schieben (gleichzeitig
Handbetätigung drücken)
 Parkstellung am HMPL−... belüften
 Linearmodul in Hubrichtung belüften.
Die Kolbenstange darf sich max. 1...2 mm bewegen.
 Linearmodul entlüften
Zum Anfahren des Linearmoduls aus einer Parkstellung heraus:
SBelüften Sie gleichzeitig den Druckluftanschluss der Parkstellung am Linear
modul und die Klemmeinheit.
Zum Klemmen der Kolbenstange im Bewegungsablauf:
1. Belüften Sie den Druckluftanschluss der Parkstellung am Linearmodul.
2. Entlüften Sie die Klemmeinheit und anschließend Linearmodul.
Bei Änderung der Nutzlastmasse:
SVergleichen Sie die zulässigen Belastungen mit Ihrem Einsatzfall.

7 Ausbau und Reparatur
Zum Ausbau:
Hinweis
Aktorik bewegt sich ungewollt.

Bei Bedarf:

2 Method of operation and use
The clamping unit type HMPL−...−KP blocks
the clamping rod 2 by means of a frictional
connection. The clamping rod is connected
rigidly to the piston rod of the linear module.
A spring in the clamping unit presses two
clamping jaws apart. When the claming jaws
open, they are tilted against the clamping rod.
When the compressed air connection 4is
pressurized, the clamping jaws are positioned
in relation to the clamping rod so that the
piston rod of the linear module can move
freely. The clamp can be loosened by manual
operation 5.
The clamping unit type HMPL−...−KP is designed for holding the piston rod of a
Festo linear module type HMPL−... , which should preferably be placed in a vertical
position. Clamping the HMPL−...−KP when the piston rod is moving (braking) is not
permitted.
Use of the HMPL−...−KP when there is a sudden drop in pressure in the complete
system is only permitted if the functioning is checked afterwards (see Oper
ation").
With the exception of a sudden drop in pres
sure, clamping may only be carried out in the
end positions of the linear module (e.g. when
the end position has been reached). This is
referred to in the following as the park posi
tion.
The clamped piston rod resting in a park posi
tion may be pressurized only in chamber Kh
on the stroke side (see Fig. 3).
This is to prevent the piston striking against
an unpressurized chamber when clamping is
released.

3 Conditions of use
Please note
The HMPL−...−KP may be damaged if its
speed is braked.
SMake sure that the following specifica
tions are observed in the case of cyclic
clamping:
 Clamping is loosened only in the
end positions of the linear module.
 The clamping unit is pressurized and
exhausted only when the piston rod is
standing completely still.
 There are no dynamic forces.
Please note
Incorrect handling can lead to malfunctioning.
SFollow the operating instructions for the linear module type HMPL−..." for
correct and safe use of the product.
The technical specifications of clamping unit type HMPL−...−KP may limit the
specifications in the operating instructions for linear module type HMPL−... .
4 Fitting
Fitting mechanical components
Please note
Deformed components may cause a functional failure.
SMake sure that there are no transverse forces on the housing 3or on the
clamping rod 2of the HMPL−...−KP.

Fitting the clamping unit
SCarry out the following steps:
1. Exhaust the HMPL−... and if necessary dismantle it.
2. Place the piston rod of the HMPL−... by hand in the extended end position.
3. Place the flange 1and the housing 3
together with the centring sleeves pro
vided on the HMPL−... .
In order to move the clamping rod, you
must press the manual device 5on the
clamping unit.
4. Tighten the fastening screw in the hole of
the flange. The tightening torques are
shown in Fig. 6.

5. Fasten the linear module with the clamp
ing unit using one of the following
methods:
 Fitting to linear module HMPL−... using
the screws provided (M5 x 45)
 Fitting to linear module type
HMP−16/20−... using the screws pro
vided (M5 x 52)
 Fitting to linear module type
HMP−25/32−... using M5 x 55 screws
(not included)
 Fitting to the fastening plate.
The maximum screw−in depth L of the
clamping unit and linear module required
for mounting on a fastening plate is 38 mm.
SFasten with at least two screws in the
holes 3.
Fitting pneumatic components
SConnect the tubing to the screw con
nectors (PK−4) on the clamping unit.
Pneumatic control of the HMPL−...−KP:
SUse a common source of compressed air
for connecting the valves (e.g. connection
as in Fig.11 with CP.. valve terminal).
In this way, the clamping rod will be
clamped in the event of a drop in pres
sure.

Please note
The actuators will be considerably acceler

SMake sure that the linear module is pres
surized only in the park position when
clamping is released. Movement against
a non−pressurized chamber will create an
acceleration which can damage the lin
ear module.
Please note
The actuators may make sudden unexpected movements.
SAvoid exceeding the static retention force (see Technical specifications).
The clamped piston rod may move approx. 1...2 mm due to manufacturing
tolerances.

Positioning the linear module
SExhaust the linear module.
1. Push the piston rod by hand into the de
fined park position (e. g. the end posi
tion).
You must press the manual device on the
clamping unit at the same time.
2. Pressurize this park position of the linear
module and then the clamping unit.
3. Complete commissioning in accordance
with the operating instructions for linear
module type HMPL−... .
6 Operation
In the event of a sudden drop in pressure
SCheck the operation of the HMPL−...−KP−... without work load as follows:
 Exhaust the linear module type HMPL−...
 Exhaust the clamping unit
 Push the piston rod by hand into a park position (press the manual device
at the same time)
 Pressurize the park position on the HMPL−...
 Pressurize the linear module in the direction of the stroke.
The piston rod may move max. 1 ... 2 mm.
 Exhaust the linear module
Moving the linear module out of a park position
SAt the same time pressurize the compressed air connection of the park posi
tion on the linear module and the clamping unit.

1. Pressurize the compressed air connection of the park position on the linear
