explosionsorexposuretogas.TheequipmentcomplieswithIEC61010-1/EN61010-1
standardsregardingproductsafety.
Networksecurity
IfaMBR144OEMsystemisconnectedtoalocalareanetwork,datasecurityis
important.
EquipmentmanufacturedbyKongsbergSeatexisfrequentlyconnectedtothevessel's
localareanetwork(LAN).Whenyouconnectacomputertoalocalareanetworkyou
willalwaysexposethedataonthatcomputer.Allothercomputersconnectedtothesame
networkmaybeabletoaccessyourdata.Severalthreatsmayimmediatelyoccur:
•Remotecomputerscanreadthedata.
•Remotecomputerscanchangethedata.
•Remotecomputerscanchangethebehaviourofthecomputer,forexampleby
installingunwantedsoftware.
Usually,twoparametersareusedtodenethethreatlevel:

KongsbergSeatexhasnoinformationregardingthecompletesysteminstallationon
anyvessel.SystemsprovidedbyKongsbergSeatexareregardedasstand-aloneofine
systems.Theyarestand-aloneeventhoughtheymaybeconnectedtoanetworkfor
sensorinterfacesand/ordatadistribution.
Note
NonetworksafetyapplicationsareinstalledonKongsbergSeatexcomputers.The
computersarethereforenotprotectedagainstviruses,malwareorunintentionalaccess
byexternalusers.
SecuringtheMBR144OEMsystemitselfhasnomeaningunlessthereisapolicyin
placethatsecuresallcomputersinthenetwork.Thispolicymustincludephysicalaccess
bytrainedandtrustedusers.Thecustomer/enduseroftheMBR144OEMsystem
willalwaysbeinchargeofdeningandimplementingasecuritypolicy,andproviding
therelevantnetworksecurityapplications.

anIPconnection.
