adedicatedplug-and-playcameraforlivestreamingandbatterypacks.
TheMBR144PersonalisanEthernetbasedradiothatrequiresnoextrainfrastructure
tooperate.ItoperatesonOSIlayer2asanetworkbridgetransportingIPpacketsover
theairinterfaceconnectingcomputers,sensorsandsystemstogether.Theradiohas
aTDMAaccessprotocolwithusercongurabletimeslotallocation.TheMBR144

AradionetworkisanetworkofseveralMBRUnitscommunicatingtogether.Theradio
networkoperatesasawirelessradiomobileadhocnetwork(MANET)whichcanbe
usedasastand-alonenetworkorasanextensionofyourexistingradionetwork,orxed
networks.Theradionetworkisdenedbynetworkname,networkidandencryption
key.TheMBR144PersonalcanbeusedtogetherwithallotherMBRUnitsinthe
productfamily.
AradiositeisoneorseveralradiounitsconnectedtogetherbyalocalEthernet
connectionatthesamelocation.Thebenetsofaradiositewithseveralradiounitsisan
increasedcoverageareaorredundancywithradioscoveringthesamearea.Datalinks
toremoteMBRunitswillseamlesslybehandedoverfromoneRadioUnittoanother
RadioUnitonthesameradiosite.
Allantennas,radiotransceiversandsignalprocessingarecontainedintheradiounit.
TheMBR144Personalissetupviaawebinterfacewhichisavailableoneachradio
unit.ItcanalsobesetupfromanAPI(applicationprogramminginterface).Contact

IfaMBR144Personalsystemisconnectedtoalocalareanetwork,datasecurityis
important.
EquipmentmanufacturedbyKongsbergSeatexisfrequentlyconnectedtothevessel's
localareanetwork(LAN).Whenyouconnectacomputertoalocalareanetworkyou
willalwaysexposethedataonthatcomputer.Allothercomputersconnectedtothesame
networkmaybeabletoaccessyourdata.Severalthreatsmayimmediatelyoccur:
•Remotecomputerscanreadthedata.

•Remotecomputerscanchangethebehaviorofthecomputer,forexamplebyinstalling
unwantedsoftware.
Usually,twoparametersareusedtodenethethreatlevel:
1Thelikelihoodthatanyremotecomputerwilldoanyoftheabove.
2Thedamagedoneifaremotecomputersucceedsdoingthis.
KongsbergSeatexhasnoinformationregardingthecompletesysteminstallationon
anyvessel.SystemsprovidedbyKongsbergSeatexareregardedasstand-aloneofine
systems.Theyarestand-aloneeventhoughtheymaybeconnectedtoanetworkfor
sensorinterfacesand/ordatadistribution.
Note
NonetworksafetyapplicationsareinstalledonKongsbergSeatexcomputers.The
computersarethereforenotprotectedagainstviruses,malwareorunintentionalaccess
byexternalusers.
SecuringtheMBR144Personalsystemitselfhasnomeaningunlessthereisapolicyin
placethatsecuresallcomputersinthenetwork.Thispolicymustincludephysicalaccess
bytrainedandtrustedusers.Thecustomer/enduseroftheMBR144Personalsystem
willalwaysbeinchargeofdeningandimplementingasecurity,policyandproviding
therelevantnetworksecurityapplications.
