Rectangular fire damper SFR / SFK
Description
KOOLAIR SFR2K1, SFR2K1GT, SFR3K1GT and SFR-2GT rec-
tangular fire dampers are approved under the New Spanish Buil-
ding Code as per UNE EN 1366-2 and used to close off fire sectors
in HVAC systems. The housing is composed of a single body of
steel sheet construction with an inner cutout reinforced by a slotted
sheet frame (SFR2K1, SFR2K1GT and SFR3K1GT), or two bodies
separated by a silicate fiber frame (SFR2GT) that completely eli-
minate the thermal bridge. The closure slat is manufactured of sili-
cate fiber of different thicknesses according to the model selected
and intumescent seals around the perimeter. The dampers feature
a symmetric construction and are designed for flush-mounted wall
installation regardless of air flow direction. The dampers are clo-
sed when the thermal fuse blows or trips at temperatures above
70ºC and are manually reset in all versions, except for the servo
drive version (thermoelectric fuse set to 72ºC). Dampers with the in-
itial (-S) fulfill the conditions required by the standard for cold smoke
leakage. This tightness is achieved by a seal between the perime-
ter and the flap.
Operation
The operating mechanism components are manufactured of zinc-
coated steel and built into a plastic casing. The mechanism opera-
tes the flap by an articulated mechanism rather than directly
operating the slat shaft, which only supports the pivoting effect. This
adds solidity and reliability to the operating mechanism of the flap.
The mechanism assembly is offset from the pivot shaft of the slat,
which allows access to the unit for maintenance and inspection.
The mechanism housing is upgradable, i.e. all operating mecha-
nism options are interchangeable, with no need for factory installa-
tion. All dampers built with a TH-70 fuse and/or a shunt release or
trip coil, once these actuated, require on-site manual reset for sub-
sequent reuse. Only dampers equipped with an electric motor allow
remote reset.

Description
KOOLAIR SFC2K1-S, SFC2K-S and SFC-4 round fire dampers are
approved under the New Spanish Building Code as per UNE EN
1366-2 and used to close off fire sectors in HVAC installations. The
housing is composed of a single body of steel sheet construction
with a slot in the fin area (SFC2K1-S), a single body of sheet cons-
truction with a ring slot in the fin area (SFC2K-S), or two bodies of
galvanized steel construction separated from each other by a sili-
cate fiber frame (SFC-4) that completely eliminate the thermal
bridge. The closure slat is manufactured of silicate fiber of different
thicknesses according to the model selected and intumescent seals
around the perimeter. The dampers feature a symmetric construc-
tion and are designed for wall-flushed mounting regardless of air
flow direction.
The closure is operated when a thermal fuse blows or trips at tem-
peratures above 70ºC, which requires manual reset in all versions,
except for the servo drive version (thermoelectric fuse set at 72ºC).

The standard dimensions (duct dimensions) of the
SFR2K1GT and SFR2K1GT-S fire dampers are manu-
factured in widths of 200 to 800 mm, in 50-mm increments
(dimension L). The dimensions range from 850 to 1500
mm, in 50-mm increments (dimension H).
Special care must be given to dimensions S1 and S2,
which indicate how much the flap protrudes from the hou-
sing when it is open.

Accesories (SFR / SFK / SFC)
Fusible link
Alloy-type thermal fuse, which blows when the air flow rate temperature is above 70ºC
(1). The fuse is included, as standard finish, in the internal trip mechanism assembly (2).
By special order upon request, the fuses can be supplied with an operating temperature
other than the one listed.

Servomotor
The servomotor allows remote reset and trip. It
includes the “T” (slow-blowing) trip thermoelec-
tric fuse, as well as dedicated signalling contacts
(start and end limit switches). The servo drives
are powered by 24 VDC or 24 VAC. By special
order, the unit can be supplied to run at 230 VAC.
KOOLAIR mounts motors from different manu-
facturers (Belimo, Siemens, etc.).
Electromagnetic coil
There are two types: shunt release or trip coil. The shunt releases, normally de-energized,
operate by an electrical pulse supplied by energizing the circuit. Available for 24 VAC, 24
VDC, or 220 VAC. The trip coils, normally energized, operate by a power failure or shutdown
of power supply. Available in 24 VAC or 24 VDC.
SLS and ELS Stroke switch
Electrical devices that indicate the damper open-close status through a connection to the control
system, fire alarm stations, etc.

2- Remove the casing (figure 2).
3- Unscrew the fixing screws (figure 3).
4- Remove the whole element (figure 4).
5- Place the new fuse in the location of figure 5.
6- The whole element is entered again, set all the screws removed before.
The mechanism box is completed by placing the casing.

Special constructions
On demand and as non- standard construction, it is possible to supply SFR/SFK dampers with adaptation necks rather than
flange connection.
These coupling may require thar the length of the envelope is greater than the standard to avoid interfering with the blade.
