Carbon Monoxide Poisoning: Earlysigns
ofcarbon monoxidepoisoningresemble
the fluwithheadaches,dizziness,or
nausea.Ifyou havethese signs,thefire-
placemaynotbe workingproperly. Get
freshairatonce!Havethe fireplace
serviced. Somepeoplearemoreaffected
bycarbonmonoxidethan others.These
includepregnant women,peoplewithheart
orlung disease,anemia,those underthe
influenceofalcohol, andthose
at high altitudes.
Propane/LP Gas: Propane/LPgas is
odorless. Anodor-making agentisadded
toPropane/LPgas.Theodorhelps you
detectaPropane/LPgasleak. However,
the odoraddedtoPropane/LPgascan
fade. Propane/LPgasmaybepresent even
though no odor exists.
Makecertainyoureadandunderstandall
warnings. Keepthismanualfor reference.

Using theseaddeditemscan cause
sooting.Donotaddlava rockaround
base.Rockanddebriscouldfallintothe
controlareaoffireplace. Afterservicing,
alwaysreplacescreenbeforeoperating
fireplace.
7. Youmust operatethisfireplacewiththe
fireplacescreeninplace.Make surethe
fireplacescreenisinplacebeforerun-
ningthe fireplace.
8.Thisfireplaceisdesigned tobe
smokeless. If logs everappear tosmoke,
shut offthe fireplaceandcall aqualified
serviceperson.
Note: Duringinitialoperation,slight
smoking couldoccurdue tolog curing
andfireplaceburningmanufacturing
residues.
9. Toprevent thecreation ofsoot,followthe
instructionsinCleaningandMainte-
nance onpage13.
10.Beforeusing furniturepolish,wax,car-
petcleaner, orsimilar products, turnfire-
placeoff. If heated, thevaporsfromthese
productsmaycreateawhitepowderresi-
duewithinburnerboxoronadjacent
wallsorfurniture.
11.Thisfireplace needsfresh airventilation
torunproperly.Thisfireplacehas an
OxygenDepletionSensing(ODS) safety
shutoff system. TheODSshutsdownthe
fireplace ifnotenough freshairis
