3 Overview
The high performance 104LN is a distribution amplifier and a line driver for
composite and SDI video signals.
In particular, the 104LN 1:4 Differential Video Line Amplifier:
Accepts a composite video input and provides 4 identical buffered outputs
Includes recessed Gain and EQ. (equalization) trimmer controls, which
compensate for signal losses inherent in long cable runs
Has a differential input, which helps to eliminate common mode noise
picked up by the input cable, and supports the use of long cables (letting
you locate it anywhere in the distribution chain)
Has a bandwidth in excess of 400MHz, ensuring that it remains
transparent even in the most critical applications
Is fully DC coupled, ensuring the best linearity and signal flatness
To achieve the best performance:
Connect only good quality connection cables, thus avoiding interference,
deterioration in signal quality due to poor matching, and elevated noise-
levels (often associated with low quality cables)
Avoid interference from neighboring electrical appliances and position
your Kramer 104LN away from moisture, excessive sunlight and dust
Caution – No operator-serviceable parts inside unit.
Warning – Use only the Kramer Electronics input power
wall adapter that is provided with this unit
1
.
Warning – Disconnect power and unplug unit from wall
before installing or removing device or servicing unit.

5 Connecting the 104LN 1:4 Differential Video Line Amplifier
To connect the 104LN 1:4 Differential Video Line Amplifier, as the example
in Figure 5 illustrates, connect the following
1
:
1. Connect a composite video source (for example, a satellite decoder and
receiver) to the INPUT BNC connector.
2. Connect the four OUT BNC connectors to up to four composite video
acceptors, as follows:
Connect the OUT 1 connector to video acceptor 1 (for example, a
video recorder)
Connect the OUT 2 connector to video acceptor 2 (for example, a
video display)
Connect the OUT 3 connector to video acceptor 3 (for example, a
video display)
Connect the OUT 4 connector to video acceptor 4 (for example, a
video display)
3. Adjust the output signal level and/or cable compensation equalization level, if
required.
4. If the image appears noisy, set the INPUT GROUND to either ON or FLOAT
to lower the noise level.
1 Switch OFF the power on each device before connecting it to your 104LN. After connecting your 104LN, switch on its
power and then switch on the power on each device
