Operation of the Lanta Fireball Par64S Plus™
To select the various different modes of operation, there is a 4 button keypad and a 4
digit LED display on the rear of the product.
To begin, press the button marked “MODE”. Each press will choose one of the working
modes described below. Once the desired mode has been selected, the button marked
“SET UP” will allow the user to select a parameter that they wish to change (such as speed
etc). To choose a value of the parameter, press either the “UP” or “DOWN” buttons until
the desired setting is achieved.
Note: There is no need to have a “store” button, as this is automatically done for you.
Note: The LED display will enter power saving mode after 20 seconds after the last button
press. It will turn on again after pressing any button.
Note: When first powered on, the display will briefly show the firmware version
programmed into the memory of the controller. This is displayed as a “U” followed by the
version number. (e.g. “U2.0”)
1 - Built-in PROGRAM Mode
To use the built-in program mode – a library of exciting and vibrant colour changes, keep
pressing the “MODE” button until the LED display shows “PR” followed by a 2-digit number
(e.g. PR07). The “UP” and “DOWN” buttons allow the selection of a program.
Program 01 is a static colour mode. By pressing “SET UP” the desired colour can be
selected by using the “UP” and “DOWN” buttons. There are seven static colours:-
1 - Red (Red)
2 - Red & Green (yellow)
3 - Green (Green)
4 - Green & Blue (Cyan)
5 - Blue (Blue)
6 - Red & Blue (Magenta)
7 - Red & Green & Blue (White)
Special Effects:
(1) Press SET UP again to set the BRIGHTNESS of your chosen static colour. This is from 000
(off) to 255 (full brightness)
(2) Press SET UP again for FLASH mode. “FS00” is static through to “FS99”, the fastest fl ash
rate of your chosen static colour.
Program “PR02” to “PR10” are pre-programmed patterns that either colour switch or
colour fade. After selecting the desired pattern, the special effects shown in (1) and (2)
can be selected.

2 - AUTO Mode
To use the built-in Auto mode – a library of exciting colour changes, keep pressing the
“MODE” button until the LED display shows “AUTO”. In this mode the unit will run pattern
two for a period of time, then automatically run pattern three and so on until pattern ten
is reached. It will then restart with pattern two. This creates an ever-changing light show
without the need for the operator to intervene.
Note: The special effects shown in (1) and (2) can be selected.
3 - DMX Mode
It is possible to operate the Lanta Fireball Par 64S Plus™ from a remote location by using
either a DMX controller or a PC or laptop with a DMX interface. Lanta products use a 3
pin XLR style connector and usually have an input and output DMX connector. This allows
multiple lighting products to be “daisy-chained” together to build a display controlled by
just one cable back to the DMX controller.
NOTE: In larger installations, there may be limitations regarding the maximum length of
DMX cables and the maximum number of devices that can be used in one daisy-chain
(or node).
NOTE: It is often desirable to terminate the last device on the node to minimize noise
and interference. Interference on a DMX network can make some lighting products to
behave erratically; this is most noticeable with moving head or other motorized products.
This is not a fault with the lighting product.
Please see your DMX controller handbook for further details.
To use the built-in DMX function, it is necessary to set the DMX address. To do so, fi rst
choose the correct mode by pressing the “MODE” button until the LED display shows
“d” followed by a 3-digit number (e.g. d007). The “UP” and “DOWN” buttons allow the
selection of the DMX address and can be selected between 001 and 512.
The Lanta Fireball Par 64S Plus™ uses several adjacent CHANNELs of DMX and the fi rst
will be determined by the DMX address setting - as described above - and the second
CHANNEL will be one CHANNEL higher and so on. E.g. if the DMX address has been
set to 105, then the Lanta Fireball Par 64S Plus™ will be operated by channels 105 and
106 etc. In most applications, it is suffi cient to set the DMX address to 001 as shown in the
table overleaf.
When the Lanta Fireball Par 64S Plus™ is connected to the DMX controller, each CHANNEL
will be controlled by a slider or similar control. When the slider is at the bottom the VALUE
is 0. When the slider is at maximum, the VALUE is 256. The value can be set at any level
at any time.

range of controllers and applications. The Lanta Fireball Par 64S Plus™ can operate in 1
channel, 3,4 and 6 channel modes, each offering a wealth of functionality. In order to set

4 - MASTER/SLAVE Mode
This is a great way of making two or more Lanta Fireball Par 64S Plus™ units do the same
things at the same time, without the need for a DMX controller. The Lanta Fireball Par 64S
Plus™ has a DMX controller of its own, built inside and when a second Lanta Fireball Par
64S Plus™ (set as SLAVE) is connected to a Lanta Fireball Par 64S Plus™ (set as MASTER) the
SLAVE will follow all of the activity of the MASTER. It is possible to connect several SLAVEs to
a MASTER, creating a magnifi cent light show!
To use the built-in MASTER/SLAVE function, keep pressing the “MODE” button until the LED
display shows “SLAu”. Then join this SLAVE unit to another Lanta Fireball Par 64S Plus™ that
is in either Program, Auto or sound mode – this acts as the MASTER.
NOTE: The DMX OUT connector of the MASTER should be connected to the DMX IN of the
slave using a 3 pin DMX cable.
5 - SOUND Mode
This mode will really bring your Lanta Fireball Par 64S Plus™ to life. The built-in microphone is
designed to react to the bass notes – the “beat” of the music. Each time the microphone
detects a bass note, it will advance the pattern in time to the music.
To operate the SOUND mode, press the “MODE” button until the LED display shows
“SU” followed by two digits. The numbers represent the microphone’s sensitivity setting.
This will range from SU00-SU31. The louder the music, the lower the sensitivity required to
operate the sound function – and the lower the number the operator needs to select. If
set too high, the Lanta Fireball Par 64S Plus™ will seem to run continuously and not in time
with the beat.
