1.ESSENTIALSAFETYINSTRUCTIONS

Theoperatormustbefamiliarizedwiththeuseofthistool,mustbeconsequentwiththeinherentriskoftheuseofthehydraulictools.
Usetheappropriateprotectiondevicessuchasboots,glovesandgoggles:


Ifanymalfunctionintheequipmentisdetected,neveruseituntilberepairedbyspecialistpersonnel.
Storeitfaroftheoperators,inasafeplace.Neverusehydraulicequipmentthatisdamagedorsuspectedtobeinpoorcondition.

Watchtheextremeenvironmentalconditionsandkeepgreasedtheequipment.
This wedge spreader has been designed for pipe and flange and maintenance. Can be used also for seal replacement, removing elbows or heavy equipment
maintenance.
Theomissionofthisinstructionmanualcouldproducepersonalinjuriesandmaterialdamages,thatLARZEP,S.A.willnotberesponsible.
Theoperatorshouldbefullyawareoftherisksinherentintheuseofhigh‐pressurehydraulictools,andshouldactresponsibilityinaccordancewiththatdescribedin
thismanual,ensuringbothhis/herownsafetyaswellasthesafetyofotherslocatedinthevicinityoftheworkingzone.
Theworkinginstructionsshouldbeavailableforconsultationbytheoperatoratalltimes.
Inadditiontoreadingandunderstandingtheinstructions manual,theoperatorshouldbetrainedintheuseofthemachineandinthestandardsand regulations
governing operations of this kind, such as those pertaining to accident prevention and environmental protection, for example. All exposed personnel should use
appropriatepersonalprotectionequipment:boots,helmet,goggles,glovesandprotectiveclothing.



LARZEP,S.A.guaranteesitsproductsagainstalldesignandmanufacturingdefectsforthedurationsoftwoyearsfromthedateofpurchase.Thisguaranteedoesnot
includetheordinarywearofbothmetalandnon‐metalparts,abuse,usingtheequipmentbeyonditsratedcapacityandanywearordamageincurredasaresultof
usingahydraulicfluidwhichisnotrecommendedbyLARZEP,S.A.
PleasenotethatiftheequipmentisdisassembledorservicedbyanyoneotherthananauthorizedservicedealerorbyLARZEP,S.A.,thisguaranteeisrenderednull
andvoid.
Intheeventofawarrantyclaim,returntheequipment,toLARZEP,S.A.ortheauthorizeddealerwhichsoldyouthehydraulicequipment,LARZEP,S.A.willrepairor
replacethefaultyequipment,whicheverisdeemedmostappropriate.LARZEP,S.A.shallnotbeheldliableforanyconsequentialdamagesorlosses,whichmayoccur
asaresultoffaultyequipment.

4.STARTUP

1. Connectthehoseendtothepumpandscrewthemalecouplertotheotherhoseendandconnectittothewedge.Ensuretheconnectionsareperfectlyengaged
toensurethecorrectfunctionofthesystem.
2. Ensurethetoolisfullyretractedbeforeinsertingitbetweentheflangefaces.
3. Removetheboltsfromtheflanges.Insertthewedgespreaderandcheckthecorrectfullengagementofthewedgespreadershoesandthegripbetweenthetool
andtheflangefaces.Minimumaccessgatis5mm.
4. Pumpuntiltheendofstokeofthetool.Maximumworkingpressure:700bar.
5. InsertthesafetyblockCY15Bandgraduallyreducethepressureonthewedgespreader.
6. Insertthetoolagainandrepeatpreviousstepsuntilmaximumflangeopeningpossibleusingthesafetyblock.
7. Toclosetheflange,insertthespreaderatapprox.80%strokeofthetoolinordertotakeovertheloadfromthesafetyblockontothewedgespreader.Removethe
safetyblockonestepbackandreducethepressuretolettheloadbetakenbythenextsmallerstepofthesafetyblock.
8. Repeatpreviousstepuntilflangeclosingandreplaceandtightenflangebolts.

Itisrecommendedtousetwowedgespreadersintandem.Thiswillgiveanevenspreadtothejoint.Thespreadersshouldbesetat180°.

Neverinsertthefingersintothegapwhentheflangesareheldbythespreaderunlessasafetyblockwillbeusing.

Neverhitorforcethetooltocreateanaccessgap.


5.MAINTENANCE

Cleanandgreasethetoolafteritsuse.Forthat:

1. Unscrewthescrews(7,14)andopenthewedge.
2. Cleananddegreaseinsidesurfaceofthesteppedshoes(11),externalsurfaceofthewedge(3)anditsslots.
3. Re‐greasethesamepartswithquality,highpressuregrease.
4. Closethesteppedshoesandtorquethescrewsto34Nm.

