1. Clean bedrails, top of bulkhead, rear truck window and front
window of cap with 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and a clean cloth.
2. Open truck tailgate and rear door of cap.
3. (a) If using a forklift, be cautious of windows and lights while
putting forklift about half-way into the cap to ensure proper
support. Place carefully on the truck.
(b) If using (4) four people, have one person at each corner of
thecap.Beingverycarefulofpinch-pointsandvehiclenish,
place cap on truck.
4.Squarecapontruckbedfromsidetosideandushto
front of truck bed. Cap should overhang the rear of the
truck bed by 7/16”. Align cap door opening with truck tailgate
opening. (Fig A)
5. Close the truck tailgate and cap rear door.
Checktandfunctionofdoor,handle,andseals.(FigB)
Adjust as necessary for proper  t.
Open truck tailgate and rear door of cap, using a forklift or (4) people
place the cap on the truck.

SECURE CAP TO TRUCK
1. Insert the clamp bolt with large washer
through the holes in the cap sill. Slide the
clamp up from the bottom. Thread the nut
and smal washer onto the bolt.
2. Repeat in (4) locations.
3. Tighten clamps with a
Torque Wrench to
150 +/- 10 inch-lbs.
(12.5 +/- 0.8 foot-lbs.)
4. Clamps should be checked
and/or re-torqued periodically,
due to normal use.

Place clamp bolt with washer through J-Bolt pockets in cap.
Align J-Clamp as shown. Insert washer and nut, then tighten bolt.
Repeat at all (4) locations.
Tighten clamps to speci ed torque.

PLEASE FOLLOW THESE STEPS IN PROPER SEQUENCE
Steps 1-6: Fuse Box Harness
1. Remove driver side taillight using an 8mm wrench.
2. Disconnect vehicle harness to taillights on driver side. Set
taillight aside to reinstall later. [Fig. 1]
3. Locate the access hole on the driver side rear of the truck
bed. If needed, remove the grommet. Feed the terminal end
of the fuse box harness down below the truck bed through
the access hole until the harness extends below the truck
fender. [Fig. 2]
4. Install the 2-pin Molex connector & the 1-pin Aptiv
connector on the Fuse Box Harness.
• Red/white wire into Molex connector pin 1. [Fig. 3]
• Black into Molex connector pin 2.
• Make sure all wires are in place and pull back lightly to
ensure that the wires are secure.
• Push in the white Terminal Position Assurance (TPA)
until it clicks. [Fig. 4]
5. Connect 2-pin Molex connector to the CHMSL connection
harness.
6. Connect the 1-pin Aptiv connector to the battery harness.
Steps 7-10: Routing the CHMSL (Center High Mounted
Stop Light) Connection Harness
7. Route the CHMSL connection harness up the driver’s side
of the vehicle to the engine compartment. Avoid any areas
that get hot, that move, or are sharp. Use provided zip ties
to secure where needed.
8. Feed the CHMSL connection harness up into the engine
compartment.
9. Route the CHMSL connection harness along the driver’s
 sideoftheenginecompartmentunderneaththeairlter 
housing where it attaches to the side wall.
10. Pull any excess wire through and set aside.
Do not trim wires at this time.

Steps 11-15: Preparing to Connect the CHMSL
Connection Harness
11. Removetheairlterhousingcover.
12.Removetheboltthatsecurestheairlterhousingtothedriver’s
side of the engine compartment. [Fig. 5]
13. Locate the aftermarket CHMSL circuit wire. [Fig.6]
14. Remove the plastic end from the CHMSL circuit wire to expose
the blunt end of the wire. [Fig. 7]
15. Strip 1/8” – 1/4” of insulation from the CHMSL circuit wire.
[Fig. 8]
Steps 16-24: Connecting the CHMSL Filter Harness
16.SecurethegroundringoftheCHMSLlterharnesstotheground
lug located at the front of the engine compartment. [Fig. 9]
17. Crimp the CHMSL connection harness orange wire to the
aftermarket CHMSL circuit wire using the provided shrinkable
butt splice. [Fig. 10]
18. Locate the wire from step 10.
19. Trim the length of both wires in the CHMSL Connection harness
 totherequiredlengthtoconnecttotheCHMSLlterharness.
20. Strip 1/8” – 1/4” of insulation from the CHMSL connection
harness wires.
21. Crimp the CHMSL connection harness red/white wire to the
 CHMSLlterharnessred/whitewireusingtheshrinkable 
butt splice.
22. Crimp the CHMSL connection harness black wire to the CHMSL
  lterharnessblackwireusingtheshrinkablebuttsplice.
23. Use a heat source to shrink the butt splices. (Heat gun
preferred.)
24. Secure all loose wires to the wire bundle using provided zip ties.
25.Replacecoverofairlterhousingandreinstalltheboltfrom
step 12.
Steps 26-28: Routing the Battery Wire Harness
26. From the rear of the truck, route the battery wire harness from
the driver’s side to the passenger side along the underside of
the bumper. Avoid any areas that get hot, that move, or are
sharp. Use provided zip ties to secure where needed.
27. Route the battery wire harness to the engine compartment
following the main truck wire harness. Secure with zip ties as
you go.
28. Feed the battery wire harness up into the engine compartment
and connect to the positive terminal of the battery. [Fig. 11]
29. Connect 6-pin connector from the Fuse Box Harness from step 3
into the fuse box.
30. Use mini zip tie adhesive mounts and zip ties to secure the Fuse
Box Harness in place.
31. Reinstall driver side taillight.

REMOVING YOUR TRUCK CAP
4 PEOPLE OR FORKLIFT REQUIRED
1. Loosen and remove clamps on both sides. Keep clamps.
2. Disconnect wiring at bottom of fuse box. Leave cap harness in place.
3. Carefully lift and remove the cap from truck bed.
• NOTE: Be careful not to damage the truck cab, bed, or cap. It is recommended to replace the seal
before next installation.
FINAL INSPECTION
1. Assure all mounting clamps are tight.
2. Check rear door operation.
3. Check passenger and driver side window operation.
4. Check lighting including interior cap lights and third brake light.
5. If equipped with Thule EVO Square Bar Rack System, secure in accordance with instructions.
Installation instructions of the optional Thule Racks, see “Thule Rapid Podium Foot
460R/Fit Kit 3101 Instructions” provided separately.

This warranty covers repair or replacement of any defective product at no charge during the applicable

CARING FOR YOUR
TRUCK CAP
TAKE A MOMENT TO REVIEW THE FOLLOWING CARE AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS TO KEEP YOUR
TRUCK CAP PRODUCT LOOKING ITS BEST AND PERFORMING SAFELY
YourFordbrandproducthasbeennishedwithpremium-gradeautomotivepaint.
Propermaintenanceofthisnewnishwillberewardedwithalong-lastingbeautifulappearance.The
following guidelines are provided for you:
• Avoid wiping or waxing your cap for 90 days and avoid commercial or high-pressure car washes for
90 days. This gives the fresh paint nish the maximum time to cure completely.
• Do not wipe your cap with a dry cloth.
• Do not spill chemicals such as anti-freeze or coolant on the nish.
• Do not scrape ice or snow from the nish.
• Do not use polishes not formulated for clear-coat nishes.
• Do not add exterior wraps* or stickers until the cap has been installed for 48 hours.
• After 90 days, wash and wax your cap regularly with a product designed to preserve and protect
painted nish. Ask your Ford Dealer for product recommendations. Make sure to wash your cap in a
shaded area using cool water and a mild detergent.
• Do not subject the windows of your cap to the direct force of high-pressure commercial car
washes or pressure washers. Windows are not warranted against leaks under the pressure of
such equipment.
*Exterior wraps and stickers applied incorrectly may void paint warranty.
MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATIONS
Regular maintenance will keep your truck cap working well. Your Ford Dealer would
be happy to help you for a nominal fee.
1. Keep window tracks free of debris. Lubricate the sliding portions of your windows monthly with an
oil-based lubricant. Lubricate door locks with oil-based lubricant like WD40. Do not use silicone or
petroleum distillate (WD40, etc.) spray lubricant on gas props.
Caution: Do not get oil-based lubricant near any of the cap seals.
2. Check J-Bolt clamp for tightness monthly. Torque clamps to 150 ± 10 inch-lbs. (12.5 ± 0.8 foot-lbs.) .
J-Bolt clamps are suitable for securing caps when properly installed.
Ask your Ford Dealer if you have any questions about the attachment process.
IMPORTANT SAFETY TIPS
• Do not drive with any of the cap doors open.
• Do not use the product for passenger occupancy while the vehicle is in motion or while the
engine is running.
• Contact your auto insurance company to make them aware you have added a truck cap to
your vehicle.

1. Des barrières de lit propres, le dessus de la cloison, la vitre
arrière du camion et la vitre avant du capuchon avec de
l’alcool isopropylique 50/50 et un chiffon propre.
2. Ouvrir le hayon de la camionnette et la porte arrière de la
boîte.
3. (a) Si vous utilisez un chariot élévateur, faites attention aux
fenêtres et à l’éclairage tout en plaçant le chariot élévateur à
mi-chemin dans la boîte pour assurer un soutien adéquat.
Placer avec précaution sur la camionnette.
(b) Si la tâche est effectuée par quatre (4) personnes, placer
chaque personne à chaque coin de la boîte.
En faisant très attention aux points de pincement et à la
nitionduvéhicule,placerlaboîtesurlacamionnette.(Fig.4)
4. Centrer la boîte d’un côté à l’autre et d’avant en arrière. Le
capuchon devrait surplomber l’arrière de la plate-forme du
camion de 7/16 « . Alignez l’ouverture de la porte du capuchon
avec l’ouverture du hayon du camion. (Fig. A)
5. Fermer le hayon de la camionnette et
 laportearrièredelaboîte.Vérier
l’alignement et le jeu de la porte,
des poignées et des joints. (Fig B)
Recti er au besoin pour bien aligner
la boîte sur la camionnette.
Ouvrir le hayon de la camionnette et la porte arrière de la boîte; placer celle-ci
sur la caisse avec un chariot à fourche ou (4) personnes.

Placez le boulon de serrage avec rondelle à travers les poches
J-Bolt dans le capuchon. Alignez J-Clamp comme indiqué. Insérez
la rondelle et l’écrou, puis serrez le boulon. Répétez à tous les (4)
emplacements.
Serrez les pinces au couple spéci é.
Recti er au besoin pour bien aligner la boîte sur la camionnette.
1. Insérez le boulon de serrage avec une
grande rondelle à travers les trous du seuil
du capuchon. Faites glisser la pince vers le
hautàpartirdubas.Enlezl’écrouetlapetite
rondelle sur le boulon.
2. Répétez l’opération dans
(4) emplacements.
3. Serrer les étriers avec une clé
dynamométrique à un couple de
150 +/- 10 inch-lbs.
(12.5 +/- 0.8 foot-lbs.)

SUIVRE CES ÉTAPES DANS L’ORDRE
Étapes 1 à 6 : Faisceau du boîtier à fusibles
1. Retirer le feu arrière côté conducteur à l’aide d’une clé de 8 mm.
2. Débrancher le faisceau véhicule des feux arrière côté conducteur. Mettre le feu arrière de
côté pour leréinstaller plus tard. [Fig. 1]
3.Repérerl’ori ced’accèscôtéduconducteur,àl’arrièredelacamionnette.Sinécessaire,
retirer le passe-câble. Faire passer l’extrémité de la borne du faisceau de la boîte à
 fusiblessouslaboîtedecasseparl’ori ced’accèsjusqu’àcequelefaisceausedéploiesous
le garde-boue de la camionnette. [Fig. 2]
4. Brancher le connecteur Molex 2 broches et le connecteur Aptiv 1 broche sur le faisceau du
boîtier à fusibles.
• Fil rouge/blanc dans la broche 1 du connecteur Molex. [Fig. 3]
• Fil noir dans la broche 2 du connecteur Molex.
  •Véri erquetousleslssontbienxésenplaceetlestirerlégèrementpours’enassurer.
• Enclencher le TPA blanc (dispositif d’assurance de connexion) jusqu’à ce qu’un clic se
fasse entendre. [Fig. 4]
5. Brancher le connecteur Molex à 2 broches au faisceau de connexion CHMSL.
6. Brancher le connecteur Aptiv à 1 broche au faisceau de la batterie.
Étapes 7 à 10 : Acheminement du faisceau de connexion CHMSL (Center High Mounted
Stop Light)
7. Acheminer le faisceau de connexion CHMSL vers le côté conducteur du véhicule dans le
 compartimentmoteur.Contournerleszonesquideviennentchaudes,quinesontpasxes
ou qui ont des arêtes vives. Fixer selon le besoin avec les attaches fournies.
8. Acheminer le faisceau de connexion CHMSL dans le compartiment moteur.
9. Acheminer le faisceau de connexion CHMSL le long du côté conducteur du compartiment
 moteursousleboîtierde ltreàairàsonpointdexationsurlaparoilatérale.
10.Tirerl’excédentdelàtraversetlemettredecôté.Nepascouperles lsàcemoment-là.

Étapes 16 à 25 : Raccordement du faisceau du  ltre CHMSL
16.FixerlacouronnedemassedufaisceaudeltreCHMSLàla
cosse de mise à la terre située à l’avant du
compartiment moteur. [Fig. 9]

sous le pare-chocs. Contourner les zones qui deviennent
 chaudes,quinesontpasxesouquiontdesarêtesvives.
Fixer selon le besoin avec les attaches fournies.
27.Acheminerlefaisceaude lsdebatterieverslecompartiment
 moteurensuivantlefaisceaude lsprincipaldelacamionnette.
Fixer à l’aide des attaches rapides au fur et à mesure.
28.Fairepasserlefaisceaudelsdelabatteriedansle 
compartiment moteur et le connecter à la borne positive de la
batterie.
29. Brancher le connecteur à 6 broches du faisceau du boîtier à
fusibles, à l’étape 3, sur le boîtier à fusibles.
30. Fixer le faisceau du boîtier à fusibles avec les mini supports
adhésifs pour attaches de câble.
31. Réinstaller le feu arrière côté conducteur.

1. Dévisser et retirer les étriers des deux côtés. Conserver les étriers.
2. Débrancher le câblage en bas de la boîte à fusibles. Laisser le harnais de la boîte en place.
3. Soulever délicatement la boîte hors de la caisse.
*REMARQUE: Prendre garde de ne pas endommager la cabine, la caisse ou la boîte de la camionnette.
CONTRÔLE FINAL
1.Vérierleserragedetouslesétriers.
2.Vérierlejeudelaportearrière.
3.Vérierlejeudesfenêtrescôtépassageretconducteur.
4.Vérierl’éclairage,notammentleslumièresintérieuresdelaboîteetlefeudefreinagesurélevé.
