When using an electrical furnishing, basic precautions should always be
followed, including:
1. Read all instructions before using this product.

furnishing from the electrical outlet before cleaning.

4. Use this furnishing only for its intended use as described in these
instructions. Do not use attachments not recommended by the
manufacturer.
5. Neveroperatethisfurnishingifithasadamagedcordorplug,ifitisnot
workingproperly,ifithasbeendroppedordamaged,ordroppedinto
water. Return the furnishing to a service center for examination
and repair.
6. Do not install near any heated services.
7. Never operate the furnishing with the air openings blocked. Keep the air
openingsfreeoflint,hair,andthelike.
8. Neverdroporinsertanyobjectintoanyopening.
9. Neveroperatethefurnishingwhenthereisanobjectorpersonthat
could become caught in any moving part.
10. Do not allow children or pets to climb underneath the furnishing.

Assumptions

Step 2: Attach Motor Controller
AttachtheLPConnect’ssmartmotorcontrollertochairframewith(2)self-
tapping bolts. Location is dependent on design of mechanism and chair.
Suggested locations are depicted in Figure 1 below. An optional angle
mountingbracket(3434490001)canbeusedforadditionalinstallation
options(seeFigure2).Becarefulnottoovertightenbolts.

Step 3: Attach LP Sense Ring Terminal
The LP Sense ring terminal supports the LP Sense touch technology that stops the
motorwhenanypartofthemechanismistouched.Ifholesarenotpre-drilled,drill
a¼’’holethenattachtheringterminaltothemechanismwith(1)7x12mmself-
tapping bolt. Use self-tapping bolts only–donotuseaboltthattslooselyin
thehole,anddonotuseathrough-holeboltwithwasherandnut.Thethreadsof
the bolt must engage with the mechanism to ensure good electrical conductivity.
Be careful not to over tighten bolts.Seegure3onthenextpageforsuggested
installation. Location varies depending on style of mechanism. On mechanism with
an isolated base (metal-to-the-oor mechanisms), the ring terminal cannot be
attached to the base. Ensure that the cable does not interfere with the movement
of the mechanism and will not be caught in any moving linkages or cross tubes.

Step 4: Attach LP Connect Bridge
The LP Connect bridge is necessary for one chair per row of seats. Each
chairisconnectedintothepreviouschairforcommunication,andtheLP
Connectbridgeisinstalledattheendoftherow.IfnotinstallingLPConnect
bridgeonthischair,skiptoStep5.
AttachtheLPConnectbridgetothewoodbaseofthechairwith(2)1.5”
wood screws using a Phillips screwdriver. Location is dependent on design
of chair. Suggested locations are depicted in Figure 4 below.

Step 5: Occupancy Detection Pad
IfnotinstallingOccupancyDetectionPad,skiptoStep6.
Usingthelatestincapacitivesensingtechnology,thesystemdetectswhen
an individual enters and exits the chair. The Occupancy Detection Pad
should be installed between the foam cushion layer and the fabric layer.
Onceinstalled,connecttheoccupancysensortothe2pinconnector
labeled “1” on the side of the smart motor controller as shown in Figure 5.

Step 6: Connect Cables

identiedforasinglechairconguration.

Figure7showsthewiringfortwoadjacentchairsinarow.Foraloveseatcongurationortherstset
ofchairsinarow,replacethepowerinjectorcablewithadirectpowercable(7706160001).Connect
additionalchairsbyrepeatingthepatternshowningure7,connectingthepowerinjectorcablefor
each additional set of chairs to the open socket on the button adapter cable from the previous chair.
ConnecttheLPConnectbridgetotheopensocketonthebuttonadaptercable(right)ofthelastchair

OPTION3:Manualcongurationusingend-of-linesoftwarewithasinglechair.Anend-of-linesoftware
packagewillbeprovidedtomanufacturersthatallowsthecongurationparameterstobedownloaded
tothemotorcontroller.ThissoftwarecanalsoassignanID.PleaseseeStep10formoredetails.
Step 10: Conguration of Chair
TheLPConnectpackageallowsyoutoprogrammaticallysetsoftlimits,auto-closeandothersettings.
Instructionsarebelow.
 1.Anend-of-linesoftwarepackagewillberunningonaPC.Thisallowstheconguration 
parameters to be downloaded to the motor controller.
2. A button will be pressed on the PC software that will download the parameters and may also
  runthechairthroughaself-test,generateaserialnumber,etc.
Thefollowingparameterscanbecongured:
• Auto-close timer
 • Currentlimit(limitsthemaximumelectricalcurrentthatthemotorcandeliver,preventing 
  possibledamage)
 • Softlimitposition(limitsthemaximumtravelofthemotorwhenusingthechair’s  
  controlbuttons)
 • Motorspeed(dutycycle)
 • Motorpolarity(reversesthemotor)
 • Buttoncongurations(reversesorre-assignsbuttonstodifferentfunctions)
• Other functions

Auto-Close Based on Exit (if enabled)
ThischairmaybeconguredwiththeLP
Sense Occupancy Detection System. This
allows the chair to auto-close when guest
exits the chair without closing the ottoman
completely.
LP Sense Auto-Stop Based on Touch
Using the latest in capacitive sensing
technology,LPisasafety-enhancement
feature intended to stop the motor when
human skin contact is detected on the
conductive parts of the mechanism.
Diagnostics and Reporting with API – if enabled
This chair may come equipped with the ability to collect diagnostic information and programmable
settingsviaouropenAPI.Thefollowingaresomeoftheincludedfeatures:
• Usage and cycle reporting for predictive maintenance
 • Softlimitsettingsthatallowyoutoadjustmotorstrokelength(howfartheottomanopens)andhow
far back lumbar support will go
 • Onetouchallopen/closecommandsthataregreatforcleaning
• The LP Connect theater seating package can be integrated with most smart home and control
  systems(third-partydriverdevelopmentrequired)
