Power indicator
Show the system status of your computer.
• Blinking for three ti es: The computer is initia y connected to power.
• On: The computer is on.
• Off: The computer is off or in hibernation mode.
• Blinking rapidly: The computer is entering s eep or hibernation mode.
• Blinking slowly: The computer is in s eep mode.
Headset connector (for IdeaCentre 3 07IMB05 only)
The headset connector is compatib e with:
• Headphones or earphones with a 3.5mm (0.14 inch), TRS (3-po e) p ug.
• Headsets with a 3.5mm (0.14 inch), CTIA-comp iant TRRS (4-po e) p ug.

Chapter 2. Get started with your co puter
Work with Windows
The fo owing tab e contains Windows frequent y used settings. You can earn the basics and start working
with Windows right away.
To configure settings, type the corresponding keywords in the Windows search box and se ect the best
match. Fo ow the on-screen instructions to customize settings.

Connect to Wi-Fi
networks
For mode s with a wire ess LAN modu e, you can connect your computer to
a Wi-Fi® network. C ick the network icon in the Windows notification area,
and then se ect a network for connection.
Note: The wire ess LAN modu e on your computer may support different
standards. For some countries or regions, use of 802.11ax may be disab ed
according to oca regu ations.

For mode s with an Ethernet (RJ-45) connector, you can use an Ethernet
cab e to connect your computer to a wired network.

Airp ane mode Airp ane mode is a convenient setting to turn a wire ess communications of
your computer on and off. You may need to turn it on when boarding an
airp ane.

Night ight mode Night ight is a switch in Windows that you can turn on and off. When it is
turned on, your screen shows warmer co ors and the amount of emitted
b ue ight is reduced. Enab ing night ight reduces the chances of deve oping
eye fatigue or eye strain.

temperature
If night ight mode is turned on, you can adjust the co or temperature of the
screen.
Note: Se ected Lenovo computers are ow b ue ight certified. These
computers are tested with night ight turned on and co or temperature set to
the defau t va ue of 48.

Windows
Updates
Microsoft periodica y re eases feature and security updates to the Windows
operating system. Updates that are app icab e to your Windows version are
down oaded automatica y when your computer is connected to the
Internet. When updates are down oaded, you are prompted to restart the
computer to insta these updates. You can a so manua y check if there are
avai ab e updates for the insta ed version of Windows.
Attention: On y use Windows Update to down oad and insta updates.
Updates down oaded from other sources may inc ude security risks.

• Type Get He p or Tips in the Windows search box and then press Enter. When the app opens, type the
prob em description and se ect the matched resu t.
• Visit Microsoft support Web site: https://support.microsoft.com. Enter what you are ooking for in the
search box and get search resu ts.
Connect an external display
Connect a projector or a monitor to your computer to give presentations or expand your workspace.
Connect a wireless display
Ensure that both your computer and the wire ess disp ay support Miracast®.
Press the Windows and K Keys, and then se ect a wire ess disp ay to connect.
Change display settings
To change disp ay settings, type disp ay settings in the Windows search box and then press Enter.
Lenovo Vantage
The preinsta ed Lenovo Vantage is a customized one-stop so ution to he p you maintain your computer with
automated updates and fixes, configure hardware settings, and get persona ized support.
Access Lenovo Vantage
Type Lenovo Vantage in the search box and then press Enter.
To down oad the atest version of Lenovo Vantage, go to Microsoft Store and search by the app name.
Key features
Lenovo Vantage enab es you to:
• Know the device status easi y and customize device settings.
• Down oad and insta UEFI BIOS, firmware and driver updates to keep your computer up-to-date.
• Monitor your computer hea th, and secure your computer against outside threats.
• Scan your computer hardware and diagnose hardware prob ems.
• Look up warranty status (on ine).
• Access User Guide and he pfu artic es.

• The avai ab e features vary depending on the computer mode .
• Lenovo Vantage makes periodic updates of the features to keep improving your experience with your
computer. The description of features might be different from that on your actua user interface.

Manage power
Use the information in this section to achieve the best ba ance between performance and power efficiency.
Set the power plan
For ENERGY STAR® comp iant computers, the fo owing power p an takes effect when your computers have
been id e for a specified duration:
• turn off the disp ay: After 10 minutes
• put the computer to s eep: After 25 minutes
To awaken the computer from S eep mode, press any key on your keyboard.
To change or customize a power p an:
1. Type power p an in the Windows search box and then press Enter.
2. Customize a power p an of your preference.
Transfer data
Quick y share your fi es using the bui t-in B uetooth techno ogy among devices with the same features. You
a so can insta a disc or media card to transfer data.
Connect to a Bluetooth-enabled device (for selected odels)
You can connect a types of B uetooth-enab ed devices to your computer, such as a keyboard, a mouse, a
smartphone, or speakers. To ensure that the connection is successfu , p ace the devices 10 meters (33 feet),
at most, from the computer.
1. C ick the action center icon in the Windows notification area. Enab e the B uetooth feature.

2. C ick the b uetooth options to add a b uetooth device, and then fo ow the on-screen instructions.
Use the optical drive (for selected odels)
If your computer has an optica drive, read the fo owing information.
Know the type of your optical drive
To view the type of the optica driver, type device manager in the Windows search box and then press Enter.
Install or re ove a disc
1. With the computer on, press the eject button on the optica drive. The tray s ides out of the drive.
2. Insert a disc into the tray or remove a disc from the tray, and then push the tray back into the drive.
Note: If the tray does not s ide out of the drive when you press the eject button, turn off the computer. Then,
insert a straightened paper c ip into the emergency-eject ho e adjacent to the eject button. Use the
emergency eject on y in an emergency.
Record a disc
1. Insert a recordab e disc into the optica drive that supports recording.
2. Do one of the fo owing:
• Open Windows Media P ayer.
• Doub e-c ick the ISO fi e.
3. Fo ow the on-screen instructions.
Use a edia card (for selected odels)
If your computer has a SD-card s ot, read the fo owing information.
Install a edia card
1. Locate the SD-card s ot.
2. Ensure that the meta contacts on the card are facing the ones in the SD-card s ot. Insert the card firm y
into the SD-card s ot unti it is secured in p ace.
Re ove a edia card
Attention: Before removing a media card, eject the card from the Windows operating system first.
Otherwise, data on the card might get corrupted or ost.
To remove a media card, type remove hardware and eject media in the Windows search box and then press
Enter.
Lock the co puter
Note: You are responsib e for eva uating, se ecting, and imp ementing the ocking device and security

Padlock
Locking the computer cover through a pad ock prevents unauthorized access to the inside of your computer.
Kensington-style cable lock
Lock your computer to a desk, tab e, or other fixtures through a Kensington-sty e cab e ock.
