Chapter 1. Information resources
This section contains information about where to go for additional information
about Lenovo products, what to do if you experience aproblem with your
system, and whom to call for service, if required.
ThinkServer Web site (www.lenovo.com/thinkserver)
The ThinkServer Web site provides information and services to help you buy,
upgrade, and maintain your server. You can access up-to-date information for
your server on the ThinkServer Web site. From the www.lenovo.com Web site,
you can also:
vDownload the latest device drivers and software updates for your server
model
vAccess the online manuals
vAccess the Lenovo Statement of Limited Warranty
vAccess troubleshooting and support information for your server model and
other supported products
vFind the service and support phone number for your country or region
vFind aservice provider located near you
Documentation
The ThinkServer Documentation DVD is included with your server and provides
the following publications:
Installation and User Guide
This publication contains safety information, setup instructions,
hardware and software requirements, parts replacement instructions,
and configuration instructions.
Rack Installation Instructions
This publication provides instructions on how to install the server in a
rack cabinet.
Safety Information
This multilingual publication contains safety and Regulatory
Emissions notices.
If you experience aproblem with your server, refer to the troubleshooting and
diagnostics information in the Installation and User Guide that is included on the
ThinkServer Documentation DVD. In addition, you can refer to the Hardware
Maintenance Manual that is available at http://www.lenovo.com/support. The
Hardware Maintenance Manual contains safety information, features and

specifications, software configuration information, parts listings, component
replace and repair procedures, and diagnostic information.
If you suspect asoftware problem, see the documentation, including README
files and online help, that comes with the operating system or application
program.
Lenovo maintains pages on the World Wide Web where you can get the latest
technical information and download device drivers and updates. To access
these pages, go to http://www.lenovo.com/support and follow the
instructions.
Help and service
This section contains information about calling for help and service.
Before you call
Before you call, take the following steps to try to solve the problem yourself:
vCheck all cables to make sure that they are connected.
vCheck the power switches to make sure that the system and any optional
devices are turned on.
vUse the troubleshooting information in your system documentation available
on the ThinkServer Documentation DVD that comes with your system.
vGo to the Lenovo support Web site at http://www.lenovo.com/support to
check for updated information, new device drivers, and hints and tips.
vHave the following information available:
–Machine type and model
–Serial numbers of your hardware products
–Description of the problem
–Exact wording of any error messages
–Hardware and software configuration information
Calling for service
During the warranty period, you can get help and information by telephone
through the Customer Support Center.
These services are available during the warranty period:
Problem determination
Trained personnel are available to assist you with determining a
hardware problem and deciding what action is necessary to fix the
problem.

Hardware repair
If the problem is caused by hardware under warranty, trained service
personnel are available to provide the applicable level of service.
Engineering Change management
Changes might be required after aproduct has been sold. Lenovo will
make selected Engineering Changes (ECs) available that apply to your
hardware.
These items are not covered by the warranty:
vReplacement or use of parts not manufactured for or by Lenovo or
non-warranted Lenovo parts
vIdentification of software problem sources
vConfiguration of BIOS as part of an installation or upgrade
vChanges, modifications, or upgrades to devices drivers
vInstallation and maintenance of network operating systems
vInstallation and maintenance of application programs
