NOTE: Youmayuserechargeable batterieson thisset.However,because
rechargeablebatteriesgenerallyhavelowervoltage(1.2voltsinsteadof
1.5volts).Yourplayingtime will be muchlessthannormalfreshalkaline
batteries.
TIPS ONBATTERYUSE
Reversing polaritieswill damage the batteriesand possiblyyourset. Besure
tofollowpolarity(+and )asindicated.
Donotmixdifferenttypestogether(Alkaline,Carbon-Zinc,Nickel-Cadmium
etc.),orold batterieswithnewones.
When notin useforan extended period oftime,orwhile internal batterieswill
notbe used,removethem topreventpossibleacid leakage orcorrosion
resulting in damage toyourplayer.
Whenthe batterieshavebecome discharged,theymustbe disposedofina
safemannerthatcomplieswithall applicable laws.
Installation ofbatteriesshould onlybe done byan adult(forsafety).

Insert2size “AA”alkalinebatteriesaccording
tothe +and markingson the bottom of the set.
2.AC ADAPTOR (OPTIONAL)
WhiletheCD isplaying,ifthealkalinebatteriesareweakordischarged,thissymbol
“”showsorflashesin the display,then the powerautomaticallyturnsoff. If this
occurs,replacebothalkaline batteries(alsoifthe displaydoesnotshowanything,
thebatteriesaredead).

Usethe volume control ofthissetandyourhome stereo system toadjustthe
volume.Togetmaximum volume from yourhome stereo,pushthe volume +button
till maximum (#32),then adjustyourhomestereo’svolumecontrol.

If you plug the headphonesintothe LINEOUTjack,the musicmaybe low.

Thissetisdesignedwiththelatest60 second ESP PLUSTM (ElectronicSkip
Protection)-whichallowsvirtuallyunlimited gentle skip protection abovethe normal
60secondshockprotection.
When the PLAY/PAUSE button ispressed,the “”(memory
basket)indicatorwillappearinthe display,thedigitaldata
(music)isstoredin the “read-ahead”memorybufferbeforeit
isdecoded and played.It maytakeawhile forthe baskettofill.
The 60 second ESP PLUSTM function preventsthe sound from skipping byusing a
buffermemorythatstoresmusicdata.The new60 second ESP PLUSTM system can
storemoremusicthan normal 60second anti-skip systems.
60 SECOND ESP PLUSTM ANTI-SKIPSYSTEM
Thisnewdesignallowsgentle swaying oftheset(asinwalking)withoutmusic
skipping.Thisfunction (CD ESP PLUSTM)maynotworkduring heavy jogging.
The60second ESP PLUSTM functionwill turnonautomaticallywhen thePLAY/
PAUSE button ispressed.
When the setissubjecttoashock orabump during play,the
datastored in memorycontinuestobe decoded and played.
Thisgivesthe pickup time tostabilizeand continuereading
newmusic.Asthedataisusedfrommemory,theindicator
changesfrom “”to “”.Oncethe pickup returnstoits
original position,newdataisstored in memoryand the display
changesback tothe “”mark.
If the set issubject torepeatedshocks and all the datastored
in memoryisused up,the “”markisdisplayedand the
soundwillskip orstopforabriefperioduntilthe memory
baskethastime tofill up again.
NOTE:
-The musicmaystop ifthe playerreceivescontinuousshocking.
-You mayhearnoiseorskippingifthe CD isdirtyorscratched.

Cleaning thecabinet
Wipe withasoft cloth.If thecabinetis
verydirty,dampen (notdripping wet)the
clothwithaweaksolution ofsoapywater,
and then wipe clean.
Cleaning thelens
Adirtylenswill causesound skipping.If
the lensisverydirty,the playermaynot
work.Wesuggestusingaspecial
cleaning disk (notincluded)available in
mostmusicand Hi-Fistores.However,
ifyou do nothaveone,you mayusea
cotton swab veryslightlydampened with
alcohol toclean the lens.
MAINTENANCE
Toremove theDisc
Openthe CDDOORbysliding the CD
DOOROPEN button,hold the disc bythe
edge while slightlypressing on the center
spindle asillustrated,then lift itfrom the
edgetoreleaseandremove.
Cleaning theDiscs
Fingerprintsshould be carefullywiped
from the surfaceofdisc withasoft
cloth.Unlikeconventional records,
compactdiscshaveno groovesto
collectdustandmicroscopicdirt,so
gentlywiping themwithasoft cloth
should removemostparticles.Wipe
in astraightmotion from the centerto
theedge.
Handling CompactDiscs
Dirty,scratched orwarpeddiscsmay
causeskippingornoise.
Handle the disc onlybythe edges.To
keep clean,donottouchitssurface.
Neverusethinner,benzine,record
cleanerorantistaticsprayona
compactdisc.Suchchemicalscan
damageitsplasticsurface.
Discsshouldbestoredin theircases
afterusetoavoid scratches.
Donotexposediscs todirectsunlight,
highhumidity,hightemperatures,or
dust, etc.Prolonged exposureto
extreme temperaturescan warpthe
disc (suchasleaving the discs in your
carduringsummertime).
Donotstick orwriteanything oneither
side ofdisc.Sharpwriting instruments,
orthe inks used in some felt-tip pens,
maydamageitssurface.
NOTE:
Always press theSTOP/OFF button and
waitforthedisc tostop rotatingbefore
sliding the CDDOOROPENbuttonto
removethe disc.

Listeningatextremelyhighvolumelevelsminimizesthe intrusionofoutside noise/
sounds.Intheinterestof safety,itisstronglyadvisedagainsttheusewhile engaging
inactivitieswherethe exclusionofexternalsounds(whistles,horns,sirens,traffic,
etc.)couldbehazardous.Alsoloudvolumecan hurtyourears.Ifyounoticethatthe

CONDENSATION
Ifcold waterispouredintoaglass,waterdropletsformonthe outsideofthe glass.This
iscalledcondensation.Condensationmayoccuroninternaloperatingpartsofthe lens.
Condensation occurs:
When thesetisbroughtfrom thecold outdoorsintoawarmroom,orifitisin acoldroom
toaroomwhichisheated,orinthesummer,ifthesetismoved fromanair-conditioned
room orcartoahotorhumidlocation.
Shouldcondensation occur,thesetmaynotoperateproperly.Openthe CD DOORand
waitforabout20 minutes(toallowtheinternalpartstoadjusttothesurrounding
temperature)beforeusingthe set.
