Email and Messaging
Communicate privately and quickly via text message or
email on Optimus L9. Attach images, videos and other files
to your messages.
Set Up Email
1. From the home screen, touch > .
2. Touch an email provider. Steps may vary from this point
depending on the account you choose.
3. Enter the email address, password and other pertinent
information associated with your account and touch Next.
4. Adjust additional settings if prompted. Touch Done.
You’ll be taken to your inbox.
Send a Text Message
1. From the home screen, touch .
2. Touch .
3. Enter a contact name or number, or touch to access
your contact list.
4. Enter your message.
5. To add a picture or other attachment to your message,
touch . Choose from the list of options and follow
any additional instructions.
6. Touch to send your message.

Calling and VoicemailQSlide 2.0™
At home or around the world, stay connected with friends
and family with LG Optimus L9™.
Make a Call
1. From the home screen, touch .
2. Dial the number you want to call, or start spelling
the name of the desired contact.
3. You will see a list of contact options. Touch to
expand the list, and touch a contact to select it.
4. Touch to place the call.
Access Voicemail
1. From the home screen, touch .
2. Press and hold the 1 Key.
3. Follow voice prompts to listen to messages.
4. Enter your passcode, if applicable.
Multitasking is even easier with QSlide 2.0 on Optimus L9.
You can now open two resizable, adjustable transparency
QSlide apps at the same time, along with another app
from your library.
1. From any screen, open the Notifications panel and
touch one of the QSlide apps: Videos, MetroWEB®,
Memo, Calendar or Calculator.
2. The app will appear as a resizable, moveable window
on the screen. Drag the corner to enlarge the window
and drag the top bar to move it.
3. Touch to make the QSlide app full size.
4. Touch to make the app smaller.
5. Use the slider to adjust the transparency of the window.
6. To exit QSlide 2.0, tap .
QuickMemo™ Customize Your Phone
Use QuickMemo to write personal notes, draw quick
sketches or jot down ideas. Share your memos with
friends and family, or just save them on your Optimus L9.
1. On any screen, press both volume keys
simultaneously. Or, open the Notifications panel
and touch QuickMemo.
2. Touch to change your pen type or color.
3. Write or draw anywhere on the screen with
your fingertip.
4. To change your memo, touch to erase with
your fingertip. You can also touch to undo
previous actions.
5. Touch to enable the overlay feature, which keeps
your memo on screen while you perform other
tasks, such as dialing a phone number. To return
to QuickMemo, touch .
6. To share your memo, touch and select from the list
of options. To save it to your photo gallery, touch .
Add shortcuts, apps and widgets to any of Optimus L9’s
home screens and create folders to manage your favorites.
Customize a Home Screen
1. On any home screen, press and hold an empty space
on the screen.
2. Touch Apps, Downloads, Widgets or Wallpapers to
see available items in that category, and then touch
an icon to add it to the home screen.
3. Press and hold the icon to adjust its position on the
panel. To remove it, drag it to Remove.
Create a Folder
1. On any home screen, drag one app icon onto another.
2. To change the name or the color of the folder, touch it,
and then touch the tab of the folder icon.
3. Enter a name for your folder, choose a color and
touch OK.
Email and Messaging

2. Touch to toggle the Voice Shutter setting on or off.
3. With the Voice Shutter on, say “cheese” to take a picture.
You can also say “smile,” “whiskey,” “kimchi” or “LG” to
take a picture.
Customize Quick Menu
1. In camera mode, touch > Edit quick menu.
2. Touch the icon you wish to replace, and then touch a
replacement icon.
3. When you’re done, touch .
With MetroWEB you can surf, save bookmarks, open
multiple tabs, find text on the page and much more!
Use Web Browsing
1. From the home screen, touch .
2. To enter a URL, touch the web address bar.
3. Enter an address and touch Go.
4. Scroll to navigate and touch links to open them. Use a
pinching gesture to zoom out. Spread your fingers apart
to zoom in. Press to access additional settings.
5. To open a new browser tab, touch > .
FileShare
Send and receive images, videos and other media with
compatible devices using FileShare on Optimus L9.
1. From the home screen and with Wi-Fi® off, touch
> .
2. Touch a file category.
3. Touch , select the files you’d like to send, and
touch Send.
4. Optimus L9 will automatically scan for compatible
devices. Touch a device name to select it and touch
Send. The transfer will complete once the second
device has accepted the transfer request.
Camcorder
Record videos in 1080p with the camcorder and take
still shots while recording with Live Shot.
Change Record Setting
1. From the home screen, touch > .
2. Touch > Full HD to switch to 1080p recording.
Use Live Shot
1. In camcorder mode, touch to start recording.
2. To take a still photo while recording, touch .
3. Touch to stop recording.
FileShare
Send and receive images, videos and other media with
compatible devices using FileShare on Optimus L9.
1. From the home screen and with Wi-Fi® off, touch
> .
2. Touch a file category.
3. Touch , select the files you’d like to send, and
touch Send.
4. Optimus L9 will automatically scan for compatible
devices. Touch a device name to select it and touch
Send. The transfer will complete once the second
device has accepted the transfer request.
Camcorder
Record videos in 1080p with the camcorder and take
still shots while recording with Live Shot.
Change Record Setting
1. From the home screen, touch > .
2. Touch > Full HD to switch to 1080p recording.
Use Live Shot
1. In camcorder mode, touch to start recording.
2. To take a still photo while recording, touch .
3. Touch to stop recording.
CameraWeb Browsing
