Thank you for your purchase of the Lionel Trolley! This motorized unit features a powerful

maintenance-free motor. The front and rear bumpers trigger direction changes.

Installing bumpers

You may choose to build a track layout that incorporates track bumpers (available separately;

6-12717, 6-62283, or 6-12715 for tubular track.) If you plan to operate the trolley on FasTrack,

we suggest only using 6-12059 Earthen Bumpers at the ends. Having a bumper at each end of the

track will cause the Trolley to change directions, and the unit will travel back and forth between the

bumpers.

Running your Trolley with a Lionel transformer

Keep in mind that the front and rear bumpers trigger direction changes for your Trolley. Press the

rear bumper, and the car will go forward. Press the front bumper, and the car will go backward.

We recommend that you do not push rolling stock with the Trolley for long periods of time and that

you avoid colliding with other rolling stock and locomotives at high speeds.

Be sure that the trolley pole clears all tunnels, bridges, and scenery around your

layout. For extra clearance, hook the trolley poles in the down position.

1. Place your Trolley on Lionel or Lionel-compatible FasTrack, O or O-27 gauge track.

2. Power up your Trolley with your transformer. Your Trolley is designed to operate best at 8-14 volts

(AC). Virtually all Lionel or Lionel-compatible alternating-current (AC) or direct-current (DC)

transformers are suitable.

3. Move ‘em out! Get your Trolley moving. Adjust track voltage until the unit moves at your desired

speed.

The Trolley will change directions when it strikes a bumper (available separately) at the

end of the track. Striking either end of the car will cause a direction change.

The following Lionel marks are used throughout this Owner’s Manual and are protected under law.

Lubricating the gears

Your Trolley will operate best with regular care and maintenance. We recommend that you

purchase a Lionel Lubrication and Maintenance Kit (available separately, 6-62927) to lubricate

this unit. Two rules to keep in mind: never over-lubricate (a small amount of lubrication will do),

and avoid getting grease or oil on the wheels, pick-up contacts, or the track.

Lubricate your Trolley when the axle bearings appear dry. Referto Figure 1. Remove dirt

and dust before lubricating, and always lubricateyour Trolley when you bring it out of

storage.

Replacing the headlight and interior lamp

Your Trolley is equipped with LEDs that are designed for longer life. Please contact your nearest

Lionel Service Center or Lionel Customer Service if they need replacing.

original defects in materialsorworkmanship when purchased through a Lionel Authorized Retailer*.

and a suitable replacement isnot available, Lionel will offer to replacetheproduct with a comparablemodel (determined by LionelLLC), if available. In the

event a comparablemodel isnot availablethe customer will be refunded theoriginal purchase price (requires proof of purchasefrom theAuthorized Lionel

Retailer*it wasoriginallypurchased). Anyproducts on which warranty service is sought must be sent freight orpostage prepaid (Lionelwill refuse anypackagewhen

postageisdue). Transportation and shipping charges are not coveredas part of this warranty.

NOTE:Products that require service that do not have a receipt from an LIONEL AUTHORIZED RETAILER* will be required to pay for

all parts required to repair the product (labor will not incur a charge) providing the product is notolder than 3 years from date of

manufacture and is within 1 year from date of purchase. A copy of the original

sales receipt is required.

In no event shall Lionel LLC be held liable for incidental or consequential damages.

If you prefer to send yourLionel product directlyto Lionel, for repair you must FIRST call 1-800-4LIONEL (1-800-454-6635)orwriteto Lionel Customer Service, 6301

Performance Drive, Concord, NC 28027. Please have the 6-digit Lionel product number, thedate of original purchase, thedealer where theitem was purchased and

what seemsto bethe problem. You will receive a return authorization (RA)number to ensure yourmerchandise will be properly tracked and handled upon receipt at

Lionel LLC.

Once you haveyourReturn Authorization (RA)number, make sure the item ispacked in itsoriginal Styrofoam innercontainerwhich isplaced inside the original

outer displaybox (thiswill help prevent damage during shipping and handling). This shipment MUST be prepaid and we recommendthat it beinsured with the

carrier of your choice.

Please make sure you have followed all of theabove instructions carefully before returning anymerchandise for service. You may choose to have your product repaired

by oneof Lionel LLC’s Authorized ServiceStationsafter its warrantyhas expired. A reasonable service fee should be expected once the product warranty hasexpired.
