1. Disabling IE ActiveX Warnings
When I try to load the mCam application, Internet Explorer displays an ActiveX warning. How can
I resolve this?
There are 2 ways:
• Turn off the Active Content Warning in Internet Explorer. This will allow ActiveX content to
run from your local My Computer without any warnings being generated.
• Allow Active Content from the Security Bar (one time only). This will allow the ActiveX control
to run for this session, but you will need to do this every time you run the application.
Turn off Internet Explorer's Active Content Warning
The default configuration settings for Internet Explorer will display a warning when it tries to
display a page that contains Active Content.
Lorex mCam uses Active Content to interact with the cameras. To disable this warning message:
1. Open Internet Explorer, and select the ‘Tools’ option from the menu. Click
on the ‘Internet Options’ selection at the bottom of the menu.

2. Click on the ‘Advanced’ tab, and scroll to the ‘Security’
section. Check the box labelled "Allow active content to
run in files on My Computer". Click the ‘Apply’ button,
then click the ‘OK’ button.
3. Close the Internet Explorer window. Restart the mCam
application.
Allow Active Content from the Security Bar (one time only)
This will allow the ActiveX control to run for this session, but you will need to do this every time
you run the application:
1. Click on the Security bar, and select ‘Allow Blocked Content’ from the dropdown menu.
2. Click on the ‘Yes’ button on the security warning.

2. Video and Snapshot Archives
I am trying to locate my previously recorded video/snapshot images - where are the archived
Videos and Snapshots located?
Archive Location
The snapshots taken by Lorex mCam are archived on your PC hard drive (usually your C: drive).
The Microsoft Windows specification states that all application data should be stored in:
C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\DMC
YourUserName is the username you use when you log in to Windows. For example, if your login
name is Joe User, the mCam videos and snapshots will be stored below the following root
directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\joeuser\Application Data\DMC
The previously saved files are saved in two locations:
• All snapshots are stored in the ‘Images’ subdirectory as JPG files
• All videos are stored in the ‘Videos’ subdirectory as WMV files.
• The subdirectories below these follow a pattern of YYYY\MM\DD, with the first directory
specifying the year, then the directory below specifying the month, and the directory below
specifying the day. For example, all videos and snapshots taken by Joe User with Lorex
mCam on Jan. 27, 2007 will be in the following two directories:
zC:\Documents and Settings\joeuser\Application Data\DMC\Videos\2007\01\27\*.WMV
zC:\Documents and Settings\joeuser\Application Data\DMC\Images\2007\01\27\*.JPG
The directory is fixed in version mCam 1.23 and prior, and cannot be changed.

Displaying hidden files and directories
The Windows Default configuration may prevent you from locating the mCam directory using ‘My
Computer’ or Windows Explorer. To display Hidden Files and Directories:.
1. Double click the ‘My Computer’ icon on your desktop. If you
do not have this icon, click on the Windows Start button, and
select the ‘My Computer’ option.
2. Click on the ‘Tools’ option on the menu bar of the ‘My Computer’
window.
• Select the ‘Folder Options’ menu choice
• Click on the ‘View’ tab
• Navigate within the subsection titled ‘Advanced Settings’, and
check the radio button with the text "Show hidden files and
folders".
3. Click on the ‘Apply’ button, and the ‘OK’ button. Close the ‘My
Computer’ window.

3. Scheduled Event Start Time
Why doesn't my Scheduled Event start at the first second of the minute specified?
The reason for this is that Windows does not allow for a second to be specified when scheduling
an event, but only a minute. Therefore the mCam Scheduled Event will start within the minute
specified, but not necessarily at the first second in that minute.
4. mCam and Windows 2000 Compatibility
Can I install the mCam on a Windows 2000 machine?
The Lorex mCam application is designed for Windows Media Center and Windows XP. It will
neither install nor run on Windows 2000.
Many of the camera drivers, however, are certified for Windows 2000, and the camera can be
used with other applications on Windows 2000 (i.e. Instant Messaging, etc.).

How do I launch the mCam Application?
Launch the mCam application from the Windows Start menu
NOTE: The installation does not create a shortcut on the desktop – it is helpful to create one for
quick launch of the mCam Application
